They have gone out of business. And they took my computer with them. If anyone else has had this problem, message me at joannemcnab1@gmail.com. I drove by the place every day after their official 'gone out of business' voicemail, and never saw anybody there until the new folks with their clothing store moved in. I'm wanting to file a complaint with the police department.

They may have changed their name to "BOBCAT Electronics", but they are still using the same fraudulent practices....Stole my equipment, did not pay me...

I took a bunch of laptops and other equipment to them to sell. They said they would get through "testing" all the stuff to make sure it worked, and they would call me back. They first told me 3 days at most. After a week I called them, and Haley told me they were not done "processing" the paperwork. After 3 more days I emailed, and did not get a reply. I would call and they would give me the same story and promise to call me in 2 hours. They never called me back at all. They rarely answered or returned my emails. It took me 5 weeks to get a check for $620. When I cached the check it bounced and my bank took the money out of my account. Haley keeps promising to give me the money. Haley at one point blamed the problems on Clint the other owner. I was told Clint left the business one week, and that he was back the next. I was told that they simply forgot about the check or the money order they promised to pay, or that they were out of town. It is now 11.14.2011 and I am still out $620 + $12 return check fee. I have no choice at this point but to contact the Hays county district attorney and try to file criminal charges against them.

i took my computer in for a back up and virus scan. Instead I got all my files destroyed gone forever and a computer that no longer works. THINK ABOUT IT ALL MY FILES GOING BACK FOREVER GONE. they just told me get out of the store when I demanded an explanation

My worst pc repair experience EVER!!!! Run, do not walk, away from these guys. My invoice is dated May 23, 2011 for a memory upgrade to my laptop. No big deal, right?? For Bobcat Laptops it apparently is as today is June 10th and I still don't have the new memory cards that I have already paid for. Their story...oh, it's still on order...ooops,the wrong one came in....we ordered memory for you?? My story...they NEVER call you back to keep you updated, NEVER seem to understand that they've screwed up, and HAVE NO CLUE they turned a happy customer into someone who will never set foot in their store again. New ownership? Maybe, but it's still the same animals running the zoo. Get a clue Bobcat Laptops or your location will soon make way for yet another second hand clothing store in beautiful downtown San Marcos.

Since being under new management, Bobcat Laptops has become incredibly organized and a pleasure to work with. I had several issues with a few computers. Chris was direct and honest about diagnosis and cost. They were able to fix one of my laptops for less than half what I was quoted elsewhere. What's even better, the small business atmosphere makes you feel like they are truly there for you. I recommend this place to all my family, friends, & neighbors. I understand that there are several additional improvements planned for the store. I am looking forward to seeing the updates and additional services.

FYI... I am a tech support rep for a local ISP. My personal recommendation to my customers now for PC issues is, "Anywhere but Bobcat Laptop". I usually do my own work on my PCs, but had never installed a power supply and didn't want to bother trying at this time.
Opinions aside, let me explain why only 1 star:
I took my Dell XPS 420 on 5/6/2011 & explained to Chris (one of the workers) that I believed it had a bad power supply and just wanted it replaced. After explaining the symptoms, Chris agreed saying he was "95%" sure it was a bad power supply also, but would not replace it unless he was able to run a complete system diagnosis ($65) and that charge would be waived if I got the work done there; I agreed. He also said he would need to order pwr supply if that was the culprit ?? none in stock - understandable and acceptable. I called the next day, Saturday morning, and explained that I run a home-based business and also work at home on this PC (my tech support job). Getting it up & running ASAP was critical. I asked if I got a power supply could he have it installed by the end of the day; he stated that would be no problem. I picked up the part from Fry??s after confirming with an employee this would work fine on my model PC. When I got back, he advised me he'd need about an hour to install it, but assured me it should work and be ready by closing time. This was my 1st worry; most who know the slightest thing about the internals of PCs should be able to install a power supply in 15-20 minutes. When I went back to pick up my PC he advised me he found out that this power supply wasn??t compatible. (To his credit, he did call & leave a message; I got it later). I don't know if the power supply I bought at Fry's should work or not, but I've never had an issue with the Fry's employees' knowledge, so I have my doubts. Seems to me a professional working in the industry should have been able to tell me prior to even trying to install the part.
Chris went on to let me know that he could order one for me and have it fixed quickly when the part arrived. After looking on his laptop for a power supply to order, he found one for about $99, but didn't order that one because it was out of stock. He tried a 2nd vendor, where he found one for $69.99. The fastest delivery option from this vendor was 2-3 business day shipping for an extra $15.
At the end of the next Thursday (4 business days later) I decided to call as I'd yet to hear from them. Chris informed me the part had not arrived yet, was just waiting for it. I asked for more specifics, he informed me that it should be here tomorrow, would??ve been Friday, after what I assumed was him checking a tracking #.
No luck on Fri the 13th. I called again Sat 5/14, was told they are just waiting for the part, and once received he'd install it same day and call me. The next Wednesday came (05/18/2011) - still no word. I called back and spoke again with Chris, now a completely different story. The part was on back order, but was shipped yesterday (5/17). Ok - shipped on Tuesday, 3 business days, I'll have it Friday at the latest. I heard nothing the rest of this week.
When I hadn't heard anything the following Monday, I called again. This time I spoke with someone other than Chris who told me he was unable to check on a delivery status. Today (Wednesday 5/25/2011) ?? I headed over at 10:30am but no one was even in the office. I called back about an hour later and explained I just wanted to pick up my PC. He stated the part is scheduled to arrive today and I would have it back by the end of the day, I couldn??t risk trusting that. When I picked up my PC, he had not replaced the old power supply. I now had a PC that wouldn't even turn on even though I left a PC that would work for 4-6 hours before overheating. I was charged $65 for the diagnosis which reads the exact same as originally, "Description - Diagnosis of PC, Dell XPS 420 - Power supply fan maybe out, check power supply, machine randomly turns off, when customer places hand on back of power supply, it's EXTREMELY hot." Wow, did they really just charge me $65 to type what I told him was wrong and waste 2 weeks?
It took me about 20 minutes to find that Discount Electronics in Austin had plenty of Dell manufactured power supplies in stock. They could get it to me next business day or I could pick it up at the warehouse for $49.99. Made a quick trip to Austin, picked up the part (we all laughed at Bobcat Laptop's poor service and tech's lack of knowledge), got back home and had my PC up and running in about 40 minutes. This was the 1st pwr supply I've ever installed, so it took me a while longer than it should have. Why did Bobcat Laptop need an hour? One more screw up ?? they kept my 4 screws that secures the power supply to the chassis.
I hope the facts above will help your decision to take your PC to a more professional and knowledgeable company for your repair needs.

Found this place after visiting Best Buy Geek Squad. I didn't want to wait on sending my computer to there service center. After dropping computer i had a call back that day recommending the hard drive be replaced and that i would be able to pick up that day. I've never had such a good experience with a repair shop of any kind. I'll be going back to have a gaming desktop built for my son who is a "gamer".

Went to Best Buy because thats where i bought my laptop. My son tripped over the cord and it would no longer charge. I was hoping that it was charger but ended up being an internal problem with the motherboard. The guys at geek squad said they didn't do these types of repairs but they could send it off. Well the price was way high and when i told them i wasn't interested they suggested Bobcat Laptops. Well, went there and was able to get repaired for around 130 dollars which to me, for a laptop wasn't bad at all. I'm so pleased as i did pay over a 1000 for this notebook not too long ago. Definitely check these guys out

Well the price was way high and when i told them i wasn't interested they suggested Bobcat Laptops. Recently bought a laptop here and have been extremely pleased. My son told me this is where he goes so i decided to make the drive from lockhart. They answered all my questions without talking over my head. That was fresh experience compared to the usual techno mumbo you get at big box stores. After I bought the laptop I scheduled a service call and had them set my house up for wireless internet which again has been world class. I Will defintely go back if I need anything else.

I needed an ethernet cable for my dorm room. Walked down to this place and they had one for 5 bucks. When i called best buy they were going to charge like close to 20 bucks for a 6 foot cable. Glad i checked here.

Bought 3 laptops here for christmas for my kids. They offered discount off unit cost for buying more than one. My kids can't share without a fuss so finding these laptops this cheap was a blessing. They've all been great so far. I wanted something that would hold up to kids with wifi and and they made it happen. Will definitely be taking our family desktop in here for a tune up soon!

Had a blown ECM out of a diesal truck that i didn't want to replace due to high cost. Was able to call around and find this place actually willing to look at it. They had to order some parts but had it done in a couple days which was way faster than the dealership i took it too. The dealer quoted me 599 for the replacement ecm alone plus labor. they guys down at bobcat fixed it up for fraction of that. A+++

Walked by this place while taking pants to the cleaners next door and decided to check it out. Asked them about repairing a few year old laptop with a cracked lcd. They needed to get part number off lcd and were actually able to repair with used part for very cheap. I'm amazed because best buy had quoted me like 450 and the other shops in town were higher when i checked.

Sent here by BestBuy. They couldn't replace motherboard in my macbook so i checked out these guys. Shop is very small but the lead tech was very knowledgable. They were a little slow getting me a quote but i was so happy with the cost of repair that i went ahead. Still using macbook, and at close to half of what i got quoted at discount electronics in austin.

Found this tiny place on the internet. Laptop was having problems charging and didn't want to replace since the computer is only a little over a year old. Apprently the chargin port was lose, i called around and got quotes from several shops and this one had the lowest price by a good margin. Very pleased with my repair.

Today is the second time I called looking for a part. Both times they took my number and said they would go in the back and look and then call me. Both times I never received a call back. If it's too much trouble why can't they say so? Both times I was friendly and so were they. They just don't seem to give a hoot. I've been around small business all my life and this is no way to treat customers. The computer business must be wonderful because, for the life of me, I cannot see how they are able to stay in business.

I come back to pick it up and they said it held a connection just fine, downloaded a huge file without any problems.

After replacing the wireless card myself, out of my own pocket and with my own hands, I ended up having a bad hard drive. They weren't helpful in the slightest and offered to buy it back from me for $100 after i'd bought and spent over $1,000 on it that week.

Absolute rip off, horrible place, my worst experience with a business ever. DO NOT GO HERE!

This place is TERRIBLE, I took my laptop in to have the lcd screen fixed, they acted like it was no problem. 2 months later they still had it; it is true about them giving you every excuse in the book. I have been hung up on, put on hold for extreme amounts of time, I have notified them I was coming in to get there and see an "out to lunch" sign in the door. There are better places in and around town. Save your money and time ... DO NOT GO HERE.

I took my iMac in to get it repaired and then see if they wanted to buy it. It took over a week to get a diagnosis and then a few more days to get an offer on pricing. The offer was REALLY off base even if based on eBay pricing. The staff was nice but never followed through on promises to return phone calls or update me about the status of my computer. I took my iMac in to get it repaired and then see if they wanted to buy it. It took over a week to get a diagnosis and then a few more days to get an offer on pricing. The offer was REALLY off base even if based on eBay pricing. The staff was nice but never followed through on promises to return phone calls or update me about the status of my computer. CCI is right down the road and offered better service at a lower price.

I heard they ordered the wrong part, they were working on it, all the excuses in the book. Don't believe that sign they have saying 3-5 days. That's to get you to do business with them. And now the computer is having major problems again. Don't use this place EVER! There are other businesses in town!

I have yet to have such a terrible customer service experience until Bobcat Labtop. The salesman was rude, tacky, and insulting. Not only did he refuse to help me with a broken item we had purchase there, he insinuated that I was lying about the warranty with the product purchased (and I had only been there less than a minute). When I asked to speak to an owner, he told me that he was in charge and the owner lived out of town and was uninvolved. He went as far as telling me I had to "fix my attitude" when I asked to speak to a higher up (right after calling me a liar for buying my monitor from them). Not only did we find the warranty information on our own, he never assessed the product to see what the problem was. He told me they just throw away monitors like mine; they don't fix them (it is less than 1 years old and purchase directly from them). He also said that he never even heard of that product; yet, once again I purchased the monitor directly from them. Their sales receipt simply said I purchased a monitor and computer but conveniently had no details of products purchased.

I am appalled at the lack of professionalism and poor customer service. The majority of comments by the salesman were insulting and untruthful. I am all for supporting local, small businesses; however, I am disgusted that a business would allow customers to be treated in such a demeaning manner. Think carefully before you do business with them!

Went there after being quoted over 500 dollars for my macbook cracked screen. My fault, i dropped it. Called around and found this store. I brought in for their "diagnosis" which wasn't charged up front. I left with a repair bill of around 200 dollars. Using that macbook to post this great feedback! 5 stars for me.

Looking over the reviews, and from dealing with them as a student, you have to understand a few things.

First off, the owner is not a tech, nor is he in the customer service. If you, the customer, make him come out to "deal" with you, that usually means you are trying to be a problem. The employees are more than capable in helping, and if they are not comfortable in doing so, they will tell you.

Secondly, when ordering parts, they are at the mercy of who ever they ordered the parts from. To have a part that is working and to have it in their store is hard to do. There are too many parts, and too many people to have everything.

Third, they tell you the store is a repair shop, not a customer service center. If you want to be helped, you will have to be calm and level headed. Don't rush in there expecting they will drop everything and fix your problem, you have to pay for that. Show me a store that isn't in it for some type of money.

Last, when they do the pricing for the computers, they are using Ebay prices. It is a current consumer market, and because of that, prices change and never really make sense. When you come in to sell a computer, they tell you up front it will be more money to you if you sell to an individual or on Ebay.
I've been a customer for 3 years now, and I'll continue to be one for as long as i am in the San Marcos area.

They do try to help everyone, but if you come in angry, you will most defiantly leave angry. Like others here, I took my laptop in Aug. said the fan didn't work. Less than 2 weeks was ready. Happy. Said they just replaced the MB and didn't charge me any extra. Got home, the charger didn't work. Take it back and tell the owner the truth, worked when I brought it in the first time, doesn't work now. Got a major attitude and nasty. I said I would pay for labor if needed, I am not looking to take any small business for a ride. Over a month passes, they give me the run around telling me the same every time. I ask to speak with the tech, he tells me bogus stuff, I ask to speak to the owner, HE TELLS Me HE is the owner, then starts cursing me out, and tells me(as he is screaming) he can't give me a refund and then hangs up on me. Picked up my Laptop Nov 3. Doesn't work, I know he didn't touch it, just sat there, playing games with me because he was ticked off. I don't know what his problem is, I even offered to pick up some of the costs, EVEN THOUGH HE WAS OBNOXIOUS! He doesn't like to be told anything, he is young and in way over his head. I went there to upgrade the RAM in my laptop. The guy was nice and since the instillation was "easy", he did it right in front of me and didn't charge me for it. My experience wasn't great but it wasn't bad. I would use them again for another problem.

All he had to do is tell me to remove the adapter from an old drive, and put it on the new drive. What takes 4 seconds to fix could have been money out of my pocket. I had the drive right in front of his face, asked him nicely--he knew that all I had to do is remove just one little piece by hand--yet he decided to withhold that information, and try and charge me for it!!!!! I am a TX State student, and Bobcat Laptops doesn't deserve to have "Bobcat" in their company name. Nice way to do business guys! Take that into consideration before you get work done from them. If you don't know a lot about computers, they WILL take advantage of you!!!

These guys have been great for me. I've bought several low cost notebooks (never over $300) and have been nothing but pleased. They do get busy with repairs and i have had one take a week or so, but when checking repair rates at best buy compared to Bobcat it was an easy choice. I had to have a screen replaced on my notebook and to my surprise i paid 120 bucks for the part and 50 on labor. I believe my quote at best buy was somewhere around 400 for the same repair, and they were going to send it to a center. These guys have a nice little shop and are the non "Big Box" experience. Worth the drive for me from Wimberley.

I paid for a replacement battery for my laptop and a replacement power cord. The employee give me the power cord but says he has to order the battery. This was on 10-26-08. I have been in 3 times to get the battery and am tired of waiting. I asked for a refund for the battery and they filed a criminal trespass on me. They say the receipt their employee gave me and signed and wrote paid on is in his writing but it is not a valid receipt because it's not from their receipt machine but an invoice. Even though they acknowledge it says paid in his handwriting and his initials are on it. They say they are not responsible for their employees actions because the business has no record of the transaction and he was terminated for stuff just like this. It is not my fault the employee cost this business money. Do they really believe they are not responsible for their employees actions? So if I go to Walmart and the checkout clerk takes my money but gives me a bad receipt and keeps the money and they stop me on the way out. They believe Walmart will make me pay them again? I don't think so!!! How am I supposed to know what their receipt is? I trusted their employee. They need to make good on it. Instead they told me to take them to court. Here we go.

I had read the positive reviews and thought to give them a try. None of the other employees know what the others are doing. I went to pick up the laptop and they said it was good to go. First the DVD drive didn't pop and had to be with a paper clip. Took it back then fixed it. Then the laptop wouldn't stay on when unplugged so a bad battery had to take it back again. Then it wouldn't play any DVD's so back again for third time. I have had it for about 6 weeks. So all that gets fixed but i live 30 min away so make about 3 round trips even though it was supposed to be ready. Then I ordered a screen for the laptop. 4 WEEKS PASS and I call and they don't have it in and say they will call back well of course they don't. I had already paid for the screen with credit too. So a month passes and I get tired of dealing with them and take it in with the receipt and the guy says "hey look what came in today". Bad experience and if I would be able to get the money back I would just go with new equipment it will cost more but save you the hassle. I'm telling you.

I had read the positive reviews and thought to give them a try. None of the other employees know what the others are doing. I went to pick up the laptop and they said it was good to go. First the DVD drive didn't pop and had to be with a paper clip. Took it back then fixed it. Then the laptop wouldn't stay on when unplugged so a bad battery had to take it back again. Then it wouldn't play any DVD's so back again for third time. I have had it for about 6 weeks. Got a great deal on a notebook and my cousin also got a great deal on A personal computer. Located closely to home Bobcats Laptops is located right on lbj where there are other small bussiness you can visit. The store was clean with prices and descriptions of what each computer had. They offer a warranty on their computers and have techs to help you out. The only problem was parking we had to park far away because all parking was taken.

Bobcat Laptops is best place in town to buy, sell, trade, or get your computer fixed. The purchase selection varies from day to day d, but you can get a pretty decent deal. The employees are extremely knowledgeable about computers and are able to answer any questions you may have in relation to problems and specs. A large part of the merchandise sold at Bobcat Laptops is manufactured by Dell, but they also have other brands on hand. If you are looking to purchase a laptop that does not meet all of your specifications, drivers and such are available on hand to be switched out immediately to satisfy the customer. Because they are a small town business, they are willing to work to keep the customer happy and returning. I recommend this place without any reservations because my experience there was beyond my expectations.
