My experience with 699 rent a car was awful. First off if considering renting from the Santa Monica.Venice.Beverly Hills location keep in mind it??s the shortest distant from the airport 7 miles ?but be prepared to pay a $28 cab fare from LAX to 699..and from 699 to LAX?.this company is nothing like enterprise or the other big boys in the business. So after I paid my $28 cab fare to get to 699 ..the lady and the front told me she had to clean the car out for me so the car was not even ready and I was on time ?I was very disappointed. So I would say I waited an hour at the location to get the car. The vehicle I got was A convertible Sebring, which was the most raggedy car I ever driven in let alone seen the car should not even be on the road..The whole interior was destroyed and ruined the car was a BIG PIECE OF sh*t. 699 also told me they needed a copy of my insurance( not a problem right)..well I called my insurance and had them fax over the card so I waited for card which took forever for 699 to receive because the lady at the desk waited 30 min before telling me they cant receive faxes sent from computer they have to be manually faxed ..what company such as insurance company are going to manually fax a document unless u tell them.. you would think that would have been the first thing she would have told me prior to calling my insurance company ?I just feel what may seem the cheapest way is not always the best way..Because due to paying approx $30 cab fare both ways ..u might as well say I paid an additional $60 for the rental. I will continue to rent from enterprise and would not recommend 699 to anyone unless u want a sh*tty experience.

There's nothing like receiving a voicemail threatening to report your rental car stolen! That's what happened to me anyway. My car is in the body shop due to an accident. I knew I would need a car for 1 to 2 weeks. With this economy and such a lengthy time I decided to go cheap when it came to the rental. I have rented with 699 RentACar 3 or 4 times before without incidence, so why not again. I made a reservation online for the advertised economy car at $6.99 with a 2 day advance notice. I went directly to the agency to see what they could do for me immediately. Upon arriving I was greeted by Jason who was very polite and professional (Oscar should take lessons!). He stated that since the $6.99 rentals where in such high demand that it was company policy to make the reservation 2 days in advance, however he could get me in a more expensive rental immediately and then bring it back for the 6.99 rental in 2 days. In order to do this however he needed to delete my reservation. So I got a better car at a higher rate. They took all my information as usual as well as standard policy to put a hold on a major credit card of $300. Anyway fast forward a week later, I receive a phone call stating that a payment needed to be made for my previous weeks rental period. Upon speaking to Oscar I ask how I can make a payment and he states that I needed to come in to the agency to make a payment. Being that I live 20 miles away from the agency and the rental charges $0.19 a mile I decided to stop in the following day on my way to work. Well now it's the following day and I received a fore mentioned phone call stating that I promised to come in the day before to make the payment and if I didn't return the car by 5pm it would be reported stolen. Well I immediately called back stating I didn't promise to come in the day before and to ask why I was being threatened especially when they already had the payment by making the $300 hold on my credit card. Well it didn't even get that far because Oscar immediately got argumentative and did not allow me to speak. I attempted to ask him who was the customer and why he was arguing with me and to this his reply was just bring the car back and hung up. The only reason I gave 2 stars is that my previous experiences here have been without incidence and I might retract this rating depending on how this incident is handled.

Pros: cheap cars at cheap prices

Cons: you better pay or i'll have oscar over here break you legs!

You guys made it possible and affordable for me to carry on with my life when I didn't have a car. I received excellent service, great prices, and a friendly staff. I would highly recommend that anyone needing a rental car or truck and wants reasonable rates call 699!

Pros: best cars and service for the money

Cons: having to wait in line, sometimes the lobby is full of people

I have rented from the place for 3 weeks and have gone through 3 cars!!! They give you the worst cars imaginable! the first car overheated, the second one couldn't go over 60 MPH which is unheard of in LA. And the third one broke down and started to smoke. SAVE YOUR TIME, ENERGY AND HASSLE and rent from Enterprise or something and be sure you have something good. In the long run, it just ain't worth it. Some of the cars reek of cigarette smoke and my last one ate my cd and will not eject it.

So, be smart, shop wisely, do not do the 699.
