Caring doctors and staff  5 Star Rating - World class

We have been taking our dog to Gulf Bay Animal Hospital for six years. She has epilepsy - and is very shy - but she loves Dr. Donovan! They take excellent care of her and have gotten her seizures under control. We are very grateful.

Previous review totally untrue 5 Star Rating - World class

This client came in and I, Dr. Kim Donovan, did x-rays and bl00dwork and this pet did not have renal failure at this time. This was the first time this client ever visited us and never returned if her pet became sick after this date. So her renal disease occured after her visit and the recall on nutro foods was only on wet kitten food at the time of her visit. It is better not to rely on one person's experience when it is based on false information. If I didn't do bl00dwork she would have a case, but I did and her pet's bl00d was perfectly normal. Please come and find out for yourself what a great vet I really am and don't rely on false information. Have a wonderful Day!!!

Pros: Thorough, dedicated, caring, intelligent, veterinarian

Vet Mis-Diagnosed Poisonin' 1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

3/3/07 I came home & noticed my dog not feeling well. She wouldn't eat, had a LOUD grumbling stomach to the point my cat ran from her. Every pet gets an upset tummy; assumed this was her issue & thought she'd be fine in the AM

The next AM I discovered she slept outside all night; been throwing up & now VERY sick. So sick was unable to stand when she drank H2O from her bowl - literally had to sit on the floor to drink, only to throw it up again. Immediately took her to this vet -she had mass cell tumors before BUT had been chk'd by my previous vet 3Xs in the last yr & had clean bill of health. I gave the vet ALL her symptoms, type of food she ate, was just at doggy beach, etc

I noticed @ the time this vet seemed too concerned w/her previous history & questioned her prognosis; my gut told me her tumors hadn't returned. While she did give us antibiotics, etc. she made it very clear it was to treat what she thought was the onset of mass cell tumors again. The day after visit still had explosive (not my word noted in her chart by this vet) dairrhea. NEVER occurred to this vet it could be poisonin' (they ignored shed been @ doggy beach) or if it did - was NEVER relayed to me by anyone @ this facility

This vet's preoccupation w/her history apparently clouded her judgment as to why my dog was sick now. Yesterday Menu Foods recalled the food she was on - it caused kidney failure & ultimately death in 9 animals. I have found several of the recalled bags in our home. While I can't guarantee this is what caused her sickness - she had all the symptoms of kidney failure & this vet overlooked it because of her previous history & mistakenly assumed the tumors had returned instead

While I'm thankful for the x-rays & bl00d work that were done to rule out the tumors had not returned - it's really a miracle she survived as the antibiotics she was given were to treat a completely different problem

If you luv your pet plz think twice about going to this vet
