Had the A/C of my uptown home go out on one of the coolest days of this rainy summer. Just my luck right? Called Morris and was greeted by a very nice rep. Tech was dispatched an an hour. A couple fours later I'm back in and enjoying the AC. Great experience, but hopefully my AC never acts up again.

Quoted: $259.00 per lb for R22 Freon Charge / Called 6 other companies in the market and average quote per lb was $85.00.

Quoted: $197.00 for a new starter capacitor. Cost of the part is $10 and labor required consists of removing 10 screws, unplugging old & plugging in new capacitor. No wiring needed.

Quoted: $297.00 to install a "safety switch" in the overflow pan. Cost of switch is around $30.00. Labor requires cutting one wire and connecting switch to each end. Other companies quotes were significantly less.

Came out for a system check, lied about how old my current system was (they said over 20 years old, and was actually 13 years old...found this out from the other companies who read the serial numbers on my current units, as the MJ did too). Tried to sell me a complete new system for $8,000 when all it needed was a new coil, costing $1,400. I had three companies come out, and the other two filled me in on what I really needed. MJ spent majority of the time telling my how bad all the other companies and products were, trying SCARE tactics. Beware...get a second/third opinion before using them...way over priced and deceptive in my mind.

Just great service. From the initial call by me, was given a 3 hour window, (8-11p.) David arrived about 9:45p, had a feeling he knew what the problem was, in and out in less than... 45 minutes. Thank you!

We are service plan subscribers. No more. If I could give ZERO stars, I would. "Technician" John came to my home tonight, was too lazy to wait for the unit to defrost (even though my service call was for 8-11, and it was 9:30 when he arrived), and told me I'd need to wait until my HUSBAND was home to agree to doing any service, and that it would be no earlier than 9AM the following morning before there would be "cool air in my house tonight". FAIL.

I've used MorrisJenkins for several years. Although all the individuals I talked to were very polite (except for David Smith who was quite condescending), the company had poor follow-up when I had a problem with the installation of my new furnace. Before the installation I asked to have the noise reduced. At the time of installation I said it was still noisy and asked that someone contact me -- no one ever did.
After several months of missed appointments and failure to call back, with me continually having to initiate contact, I finally filed a BBB report. I was tired of being put off and stalled.
In their BBB responses, they continued to ignore their poor interactions with me. If they had said "You're right. We made a mistake. Here's what we'll do." I would have gone ahead and had more corrective work done. As it is, I'll get another company to adjust the ductwork, and never call Morris Jenkins again.

The downstairs air conditioning unit at out home stopped working 4/4/12. We called Morris Jenkins to come take a look, which they did 4/5/12. The technician diagnosed the problem as a bad PXV valve (expansion valve) and quoted the repair for the failed part to be $1,190 on Ticket# 847291.
I told the technician that the house and the AC unit we just barely 3 years old and asked him if the parts carried a warranty. He told me that they didn't but they should since they see a lot of this kind of thing with those particular valves.

I told him not to do anything that I found it hard to believe the Trane didn't cover parts under warranty and that I would have to double check with the company that installed all the HVAC for the whole neighborhood before I paid for such a large repair. He didn't seems very please but collected his $89.95 and left.

I then contacted Energy Efficient and was told that YES Trane does have a 5 year warranty on all parts and the MANUFACTURE DATE on the unit as well as the serial number would have told the Morris Jenkins Tech (or any professional hvac tech) that the part would be covered under warranty. Furthermore if there were any doubt they could have called Trane w/ the serial# to verify that it was under warranty.

So they lied to try and get me to pay $1190 for a part they were going to turn around and get replaced for free from Trane. Highly unethical and I believe illegal behavior....sure they come out quick but I'm now guessing they didn't build that large fleet of vehicles by being honest and fair with consumers.

I was very impressed with the knowledge the young man had about the unit at my house. Typically you see repairmen do hack jobs/duct tape it until it works.

Brett used real diagnostics to pinpoint my issue. He was in and out within 2 hours.

My tech john arrived right when schedule. He was polite and informed me of options and recommendations. He was also very patient of our large puppy when explaining everything. He is welcome back anytime!! He was genuine and seemed to really want us to be comfortable. I haven't been present when other techs from MJ have been here.. but I can't image anyone better!!

I called Morris Jenkins because I used to know the Jenkins family and thought they would be a reputable company to fix my non-working AC. I had a service manager come out to my house and was told my whole system need to be replaced. Apparently my heat exchanger had several cracks, I was leaking refrigerant and that I was missing a drain line for my overflow catch pan in my attic that could result in my ceiling falling in. The service manager felt that I should be aware of the dangers of a cracked heat exchanger since I had little children in my house. At this point my BS flag went up. Between the gloom and doom, the hard sell tactics and the fact that I knew that I had a pan drain line because I had tripped over it before, something seemed fishy.

I immediately called a friend from where I used to live who serviced my AC while I lived there and talked to him about the problems. He asked me how long the guy was in my attic and I told him he was up there for like 30 mins and he spent a good portion of this on the phone with some of his techs. My buddy told me it was highly unlikely that he could have pulled the heat exchanger in that period of time to examine it for cracks. At his direction, I went up in the attic and examined the system and found that all the caulking for the access to the heat exchanger was old and intact further confirming my BS spidey sense. At this point I called another HVAC service tech that a neighbor recommended. This guy came out the next day and looked my system over and informed me that in all likelihood my system was just low on refrigerant. I told him my system froze up the previous fall and I thawed it out and it worked for the remainder of the fall but once it got hot this spring/summer it happened again. After putting his gauges on the system to measure the refrigerant level, he said my refrigerant level/pressure was right on the line of being too low. He asked how long it had been since the system had been serviced and I told him that I had been in the house 2 years and hadn??t had any service and based on the records the previous owner left, it probably had been several years before that since it was last serviced. So His comment was that if it froze up last fall but continued to work until it got too hot the following spring and I was just on the edge of having too little refrigerant that my system was probably fine. I waited a year to write this review to give them the benefit of doubt just in case my system was in its death throes. I only gave this courteously because I knew the Jenkins family. This allowed me to cool off because I was quite outraged when this all went down and there would have been more swearing in this review if I had written it last year.

Maybe I just got a crummy service manager trying to make some quota to get a bonus but be careful if you call them and get a second opinion if they try to sell you a whole new system. I would hate it for someone else to fall for this scam and be bilked out of their hard earned money.

On top of this, they have the nerve to call me every few months to try and sell me a service package even after I have told them I think they are scam artists. I have warned everyone I know about my experience.

I waited a year to write this review to give them the benefit of doubt just in case my system was in its death throes. I only gave this courteously because I knew the Jenkins family. This allowed me to cool off because I was quite outraged when this all went down and there would have been more swearing in this review if I had written it last year.

Maybe I just got a crummy service manager trying to make some quota to get a bonus but be careful if you call them and get a second opinion if they try to sell you a whole new system. I would hate it for someone else to fall for this scam and be bilked out of their hard earned money.

Complete rip off regarding the price of parts. A ridiculous mark up on a relay switch cost us $295 and I find out today the actual part is under $10. Give me a freaking break.

I am amazed at the 4 star rating. Perhaps that is due to 7 day a week service and "nice" service techs at your house? The tech was exactly on time, courteous and quick to fix the problem. It's a shame he feels good about naming price parts that are outrageous.

No wonder the customer service people on the phone said they can't quote prices, that the tech has the price list with him. Is there a tiered pricing structure? The tech quoted me the price outside and then wouldn't make eye contact with my husband when he had to tell him the price...after first looking at me and saying "what did I say it was, $300?"

I will NEVER call them again. Service was fine, price gouging on parts is unacceptable.

Very nice technicians, but I don't know how they sleep at night given the dishonest and sketchy "repairs" they tell you you'll need. I fell for the trap of the maintenance plan after we had them out for necessary repair a few years ago. Stupid jingle works. Was told that we'd need to make $2500 repairs (for an 11 year old unit) due to leaking oil and corrosion. I called one of the smaller companies for a second opinion who showed me what MJ had labelled "corroded" and in need of urgent repair -- it looked squeaky clean. 2nd and 3rd opinion companies stated there was no need for any repairs at all. They are just in it for the sale. Somebody has to pay for that catchy commercial but it will not be me again.

Morris jenkins took great care of keeping tabs on my rental properties. I do not have the time to check/repair these issues myself so its easy to get them on the job.

I called MJ (Morris Jenkins) back in December with no heat. The tech came out, replaced an moonlighter and a valve assembly, cleaned this and that and charged me 500 bucks (with the valued customer discount). I called again last week (less than a month later) with no heat. Now they say its a circuit board issue, another 500 bucks. I find out yesterday that the board burnout could have been caused by the first tech misinstalling the board (intentionally or not). In addition to that, I pay about 20 dollars a month for a maintenance plan that is supposed to put me a the front of the queue. the tech showed up at 7:30 PM to fix my furnace. Advice - dont use MJ, but if you do forget about the maintenance plan.. its a rip off. They mark up their parts by at least 150%. Find someone local that you trust, ask your neighbors.

Every MJ technician to our house has been personable and respectful but not necessarily honest.

We stopped getting A/C to our lower level this past summer. Morris Jenkins' technician said our system was leaking oil (?!) and that he could do a "patch job" that day to keep it running. He recommended that if the blowers downstairs stopped working again, to immediately shut off the system and MJ would replace the blower motor for approximately $750. Winter is here, and when the heat stopped coming through on the lower level, we shut off the furnace and used space heaters. This time we called B&E Air Conditioning and Heat for an estimate. Without telling him about Morris Jenkin's assessment, the B&E technician did his own assessment and stated he "could see nothing wrong" in the furnace itself or with the out-flow measurements and other diagnostics. He did inform me that there was a duct falling loose and needed to be taped, which he did within five minutes for no additional charge. He went on to explain that if there was no heat coming in at the lower level, that it could have been that the duct needed taping, or it could be a blower motor or something else and to leave the system on (with its built-in safety features) so that he can assess which element is affecting the output. He clearly wanted to do the most ethical thing--the right thing--for us and not charge for an unnecessary repair or part. He also stated that they would not charge another service fee if they are called back regarding the same issue. BEAir.com indicates that the company prides itself on "honesty, education . . . and high ethical standards" and their visit today made me a believer. I do not trust Morris Jenkins based on what their technician told us on his most recent visit.

We were impressed from the time Marty Williams arrived at 2:30AM. Through installation of the new HAVC unit. No one wants to spend money to replace an entire unit, but this experience was 100% positive. Superb workmanship - good value, and extremely prompt and courteous. We can't say enough good things about our Morris Jenkins experience.
