Go see Traci at Hair Play!!

by Jennifer T.

Once you go to Traci, you will never want anyone else to do your hair!! She is absolutely wonderful. I have never been more happy with a haircut. She really knows how to work with the shape of your face and make you look your best.

My hair is very wavy, not curly, but wavy. It can be really annoying but if it is done RIGHT it can be very sassy! ;0) She know how to do it right, I you don't need a genius to tell you that happiness is a great haircut! I don't even have to do anything to it. Its awesome!!

I recommended her to my best friend and her hair has never looked better either!! She has very long hair, but is a very small person. I don't know how Traci did it, but her hair FITS her now. It totally changed her overall appearance. She's hot regardless, but now its like, BAM!! Absolutely stunning.

Go to Traci and find out what a difference a haircut can make. She ROCKS!!

Cut and styling tips

by Bethany P. | insider Insider | Rank: 19,068

I booked a last minute hair cut appt today based on the rec of my friend, Angie. Since, Angie's hair looks good, I knew going in that I'd walk out happy with my haircut. But what I was pleasantly surprised by is how helpful my hairdresser was. I am very low maintainance when it comes to my hair--if I manage to blow dry it, it's a special occasion. Laurel cut it so that even if I do nothing, it looks styled. Then she gave me a few quick (i.e. take less than 2 mins) tricks to make it look even better. I was impressed. I wound up buying a product as well as a cut, but it's one that I can actually imagine using on a daily basis. Nice.

PROS: Great service, reasonable price, non-pushy styling tips

an okay place

by Lisa Q. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,914

I went to Hair Play once before because my cousin recommended the place to me. I had an okay experience with the salon. When I wanted to make an appointment, it toook me FOREVER to find a time that was availabe and at a good time for me. When I finally went to get my hair cut, I told the lady exactly what I wanted and she did a oretty good job. Even though she cut my hair a little shorter than I wanted, I did not mind because the layers were exactly how I wanted them. The prices are pretty affordable, but, the parking was somewhat hard to find.

Great Style Great Prince

by Angie S. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 9,132

Hairplay lives up the to expertise and class of an expensive salon but is pretty affortable. A cut and style was only $55 compared to the 70-80 most high-end salons costs. They give great shampoo head massages, and my stylist Laurel listens very well and doesn't try to push expensive products.
I look forward to my visits to Hairplay and encourage anyone to try it.

never looked better!!!!

by mackattack1

i've been going to hairplay since i was in high school. even when i went to santa barbara for college i still made regular trips back every six weeks to see my stylist. a few years ago she moved out of state and i've been floating around from salon to salon aimlessly ever since. after moving back into the neighborhood i decided to give hairplay another try. and i'm so happy i did. i saw ashley and she created the perfect golden blonde highlights that i was looking for. as i was paying for my service i complimented the woman in front of me on her gorgeous long thick hair. she said her stylist was damian sargent and to my surprise she said they we're extensions. i could not believe it, they looked so natural. so being the impulsive shopper that i am, i immediately set up an appointment with damian to get my own set. at the consultation he set my mind at ease and now a week later, i am a brand new person! with gorgeous color and fabulous extensions that look so natural i couldn't be happier. damian even called the next day to check in on me and my new hair. so sweet. i've never gotten so many compliments (by girls and guys) in my life. and since the extensions last for four months the price is totally worth it. thank you hairplay! thank you ashley! thank you damian!

Pros: relaxed atmosphere with talented sylists and great customer service

Cons: parking

Ladies get ready to be in AWE there is a new sheriff in town!!!!!!!

by jennkinsf

I have been going to Hairplay for a few years now and have always liked my hair. Until this past weekend that is.
If any of you have been there before there is a very sweet and way to cute assistant named Damian that has been working there under Fritz Hairplay's owner. Well looks like Damian is making his way on to the floor and lets just say thank god! the boy had talent like you wouldnt believe. I have been getting highlights and haircuts since i was knee high. only one bad experience when i was 17 other than that its always been nice...fine...and works.
For the first time EVER i was in absolute awe, my color looked like i was kissed by the sun, the cut was better than any cut i have ever had, and it even looks good when i get out of bed after a fun night! i think you know how pleasing that can be "wink wink".
all in all it was an amazing experience, he really took the time to find out what i wanted my hair to look like.We had the best conversation about life and when he was doing my hair he asked me questions about my life and was very helpful with advice "love him" i almost hate to write this cause i dont want him to get to popular, but i am already sure its happening to him cause i saw the ladies filing in one after the other to see him. he did promise me that i am now one of his "angels" and he will always make time for me.
i think this is the start of a wonderful friendship.

Pros: great service

Cons: parking

Oh my god! When I called up and tried to make an appointment for hair cut, the girl who answered the phone was sooooo rude- NO customer service whatsoever. She hung up on me! Guess what, I cannot even get an appointment without any rudeness, so what should I expect for my hair cut?!!! BAAAD :(

Stylist Damian Sargent at Hair Play is absolutely fantastic!

by weddingmd

I was VERY hesitant to have extensions. I feared they would not look natural or they would destroy my real hair. However, my own hair was so fine and thin that I had been self-conscious about it for years and it was time I made a change. My hair colorist, whom I have seen for years, recommended Damian after having seen his work on a few other clients. After weeks of nervous hesitation, I called Damian and set up a consultation appointment. Damian was very honest and upfront with me about the effects of extensions, which I appreciated greatly. He assured me that if my hair did not take to sample extension, then we would not go further becuase he wanted to protect my hair. Thanfully, the extension went fine and away we went! He chose a wonderful blend of colors/tones and when he was done, I stared in the mirror in awe. Could this truly be my new look? It was fantastic! And it looked so natural and beautiful! Damian had prepared me for the effect my new hair may have on men, but I must say...it is truly unbelievable! I went to the grocery store a few days later and the cashier (a young guy) seemed like he could not talk. He was blushing and the manager came to assist him to load my 3 items in a bag (although the store was fairly empty except for me). The manager stuttered and asked to help me to my car, also looked blushed and smitten. It was crazy! That is one example of many that I have experienced since my visit with Damian. Whatever the cause, I must say that Damian's magic, long silky hair and a total boost of confidence seems to do the trick every time!

Wow Factor Hair Extensions...better than the movie stars!

by svenderella

If you are even slightly considering hair extensions....stop thinking and go see Damien Sargent at Hair Play. He is amazing! Not only is he the most down to earth and happiest person ever..but he has a god given talent for making you look and feel like a victoria's secret model in 3 hours! Everything he told me is true. From the moment I got my hair extensions...people stopped and commented on my hair EVERYWHERE I went. It was CRAZY. People I didn't even know and even people I knew very well thought my hair looked gorgeous. I am so screwed now, because I promised myself I wouldn't be an addict...and well, I am for sure. I thought that it would be too high maintenance for me but in reality it's so much easier than my own hair. You don't even have to do a thing and they look great. A little product and scrunching and whalllaa...you have fabulous hair. Let's face it, if you're hair looks good...you look and feel good. Love, love, love Damien. Thank you!

Not a 5 star hair salon

by a_l

I have no idea how this place got such high reviews.
It is cheap and affordable though.
I got Lisa which might be able to cut hair but in terms of coming up with ideas of what haircut to go with is not someone I would recommend - she just plain told me that she has no idea what to do. She also did something very weird and horrible in styling my hair, tried to fix it and still failed. I walked out of there rushing home to wash my hair and bring it to a normal shape.
The haircut itself came out was all right although she seemed unexperienced and slow while cutting it - the girl who actually gave the idea what to do was a hairstylist named Donna, she seemed to know what she was doing so I might try her next time if I decide to go back there and it will only be because its cheap and close by.
After seeing what a horrible styling Lisa did on my hair the owner was very unhappy and not because I was unhappy, but because I did not want to buy their styling product (which I are not good in my opinion, its not just Lisa's fault) and tried to convince that I am wrong (and that after trying them with Lisa...) and that they are just great and my opinion is not valid...

Pros: price and location

Cons: dont know what to do with your hair - dont go there!

damian is the best!

by doordie

so i saw damian sargent for extensions last week and can you say "HOT"!! crazy how beautiful my hair was when i left...the consummate professional in matching color and texture, damian gives tips on caring for your own hair as well as the extension hair, as well as being in and out of the salon within 2 hours - AND he's genuinely witty and soooo fun to be around - the only problem now is that i'm spoiled like a rock star, addicted to the extensions, & am now stalking damian to go have coffee cuz he's such a funny guy:)
go see damian for extensions at hairplay and rock the summer!!

Best salon in the city - go see Carla

by fsmdn

Hands down, the best salon in the city and Carla is the best colorist and stylist. I have been to so many salons in the city - including some of the most expensive ones that shall remain unnamed here - paying upwards of $400 to get my hair cut and colored (ridiculous, I know). A few months ago I paid way too much money to get a terrible coloring job and bad cut and decided I had nothing left to lose. Went to Hairplay and saw Carla and she saved my horrific combination of grey-orange hair and turned it into what it was supposed to be - beautiful and NATURAL looking blonde highlights. It maintained so well, it was three months before I had to go back for anything. This time back, the highlights were even better and every last remnant of bad hair color is gone - my hair looks better than I ever thought it could. As well, I was able to trust her enough to go with bangs. We talked about it, she listed to me (and how low maintenance I am with my hair) and then consulted with the owner. Between the two of them, they gave me beautiful bangs that are both soft and edgy and frankly - I keep staring at myself in the mirror my hair has never looked so good. The test of good color and cut: I woke up this morning, threw my hair in a ponytail and it looks like I spent an hour on it. Bonus: if your bangs need to be trimmed, it's free.

Pros: Great hightlights, great cut, really listen to you, great value

Cons: Can't think of any ... parking took a few trips around the block

Worst Hair Cut EVER

by ihaightsf

ok, i swear im not fussy. its pretty hard to give a BAD haircut. i mean, average yes, but this was baaaad. she didnt listen to anything i asked for and i even showed her a picture. then she said she only had 45 minutes for a wash cut and blowdry, so she basically left me unfinished cause she was overbooked. ive never been so angry leaving a hair salon. when you spend this much money, you should feel treated to a lovely experience..NOT HERE! she said she was carla but how could that be so? there are so many good reviews for carla. i dont know, but if you go, make sure you dont get a large woman with dark curly hair. SHE REUINED MY WEEKEND and probably my next two weeks. i have officially been BUTCHERED. never again..

Pros: NOTHING

Cons: EVERYTHING

Apologies to "ihaightsf" from Hair Play

by winechic7

To the woman who wrote about her bad experience at Hair Play, I extend our apologies. I am Carla and I was not your stylist that day. Apparently, there was a bit of a mix up in the scheduling and you ended up with a different stylist. I understand your frustration and disappointment and I'm sorry you weren't happy with your service. At Hair Play, all of our stylists are trained to meet the needs of our diverse clientele but sometimes miscommunication or misjudgments with a service can leave a client unhappy. I realize that it is unlikely you will return, but I just wanted you to know that on behalf of everyone at Hair Play- we apologize.

Finally a place where someone understands my hair! I've tried salons for a while and have given up. I've done my hair on my own until i met Carla at hairplay. She totally made me feel comfortable by being a good listener and setting realistic expectations on my fine curly hair. I came out of the place with an amazing, stylish haircut. Go see Carla! she is awesome.

Ooh La La !!!!!

by aries_grl

I went to Hair Play and met Carla the stylist. I have been looking for a change for my shoulder length and fine hair. Carla suggested a style that she learned at an advanced class that she recently took. It is the new "bob" that I have been seeing in recent fashion magazines. I just love my new style. I love a salon that encourages their stylists to keep up to date with the latest fashion trends. I will definitely recommend Hair Play and Carla to all my friends.

Pros: Educated stylists, friendly staff

Thank you Hair Play.... Carla made my day!

by trend_diva

I love my hair!! I recently moved to San Francisco from the east coast and I've been searching for a hairstylist I could trust my long locks to. A friend of mine referred me to Hair Play and I couldn't have been more pleased. I've dealt with bad-layered haircuts and scary highlights in the past so I became a cynic when it came to getting a fresh haircut with color... until I met Carla. She really took the time to consult with me about what I wanted and without being overbearing, she gave me her own ideas on what would be flattering for me. Together, we were able to achieve exactly what I wanted.... and since I'm in the fashion industry, I have to look my best. From the minute I walked through the door, being welcomed by a pleasant receptionist, to the minute I walked out- with exactly what I wanted... I felt a sense of relief that I finally found a salon I could trust. Not only did I leave with a great hairstyle, I purchased their signature product called SET. Now I'm able to have my hair look exactly the way Carla styled it. See ya later frizz and hello Hair Play!

Curly Hair Experts...Donna is Great.

by hapaningsfaznmami

After Searching over a week on citysearch to find someone who specializes in Curly hair, I finally decided on Hair Play. I was very skeptical at first but I finally decided to call this past saturday the 25th, to see if I could book an appointment for the following day sunday the 26th. Of course I was still very nervous, and when I called I asked if any of the stylists specialized in curly hair. The receptionist suggested Donna. I also decided on Hair Play because it was one of the few salons open on a sunday that was not charging an extremely obscene amount. Upon my arrival to the salon, the receptionist as well as my stylist seemed a little flustered that I was there so early. I was in no way in a hurry, I just wanted to make sure I made it there on time since this was my first time there. After Donna was done with the previous client, I sat down in the chair and showed her a picture of a style I liked. She pretty much did exactly what I asked her to do. I haven't been that happy with a cut in a very long time. I would definitely go back. On the down side they're a little bit pricey...not extremely..., but not cheap either. Also I wasn't offered anything to drink except water, and that wasn't until after I was almost finished. So if that makes a difference when you go to a high-end salon...then this is not the place for you. To me it doesn't mean very much because up until recently I haven't spent more than $20 on a haircut in a very long time, so I guess that I don't neccessarily always expect that kind of customer service even at a high-end salon . On another high note, their signature styling product set is great, it tames any frizz and leaves hair feeling soft. Pick up some if you can...I haven't tried it at home yet but the next day my hair felt just as good. I'm just waiting till I finish using up the stuff I already have, which won't be long.

Pros: Skilled Stylists who specialize in Curly Hair

Cons: Not offered anything to drink

FRIZZ CONTROL - "Set" the product is AMAZING

by tempestmonique

"SET" is a product created and developed by the owner - Fritz.
This product is AMAZING! It does what is says it does -- you know how you pick up a bottle of hair product and read the description ... will make your hair do this or that - and it sounds perfect, but when you use it, it does NOTHING. SET does exactly what I needed it to do - tame my frizz and bring out/enhance my curls. It made my hair shiny, curly and manageable, which it was NOT. My hair looked great with the other products, as long as it was wet, but by the time my hair dried - I had an AFRO! Once I apply SET, my hair looks the same wet & dry, without feeling goopy or greasy.
All of my girls with the curly hair frizz blues -- this is the product!
**Oh and don't get me started about if I want to go straight (flat iron) and how SET works wonders for that too! OR the fact that when I wash my hair SET seems to act as a detangler too! OMG! I hope I can purchase this product for the rest of my life :)

Thank you Fritz!!

Best Salon to get Hair Extensions!

by neecibrown

Damian Sargent is the hair extension God! Not only is he knowledgeable about the latest hair extensions out there, he is actually punctual, always returns calls and all with a smile! Damian takes great pride in his work and my hair shows it! You are guaranteed to walk out of the salon looking beautiful. Damian also does a beautiful job cutting and shaping the hair extensions, which if you know anything about hair extensions is really an extra specialty of service! Why Paris Hilton has not hired Damian yet I will never know, lord knows she needs him. But I am glad I found him!

Fritz is a Hair-God!

by atimalala

I waited for an entire year to have my hair cut when I moved here because my hair-type is a little complicated and it's easy for people to completely destroy it. Fritz cut it, straightened it, finessed the heck out of it and I walked out feeling absolutely BEAUTIFUL! I'm addicted to Fritz and Hairplay! Anyone who goes will love the ambiance and the work they do.

Pros: Ambiance, Decor, Service

Cons: Parking

A true professional - Erin knows her stuff!

by lanitunes

About a week-and-a-half before my visit, I had my hair colored by someone else who did a less than adequate job. Within five minutes of seeing Erin, she knew immediately what was bothering me (without me really having to explain) and got to work right away to alleviate the problem. She took the time to communicate the process, made sure I was comfortable, and essentially made me feel like I was in excellent hands. Two hours later, my hair looked amazing! Not a trace of the prior bad hair color was left - only beautiful, natural looking color and highlights. I just love my hair!

Pros: Relaxed atmosphere, Friendly staff, Superb stylist

Cons: Can't think of one

Really sad and dissapointed

by tamtam75

She was nice and confident , I asked for bangs and trimming , after 20 min,cut look great , but she kept cutting until it ended up too short on the top layers, front and sides ,tho looked acceptable once she styled it. Didn't say anything cuz I thought I 'll able to fix later ..When I came out of the salon, was raining, hair got wet ,as soon as the styling wore off , hair looked like Rod Stewart's (puffy on top and sides ) I shampooed and style it but no help and there was no cutting it more, it'd only get worse. Got it braided (plus $$) in the hopes of hair growing ...after two months took braids off...cut still looks terrible ,top and side layers are still too short and gives me the 80's puffy hair look , I iron and looks uneven on the sides.

Pros: nice people

Cons: bad cut

WOW!!

by despair

I had extensions done by Damian and all I can say is I'm a true fan for life! I've had hair extensions previously done by two others in the Bay Area and I was always left feeling "is this the way they're supposed to look?" And when you pay good money for such a service that's definitely not how you want to feel. Damian worked with me on matching color, texture, and making sure that absolutely no damage would be done to my own hair. Well, my hair looks awesome and I am a true believer in his expertise and skill. Just wished I'd found him sooner but now that I have I'm not going anywhere!!
I highly recommend Damian at Hairplay - his work speaks for itself ~

As a woman with prematurely grey and naturally curly hair, finding Hairplay was a godsend. Erin has been coloring and cutting my hair every 3 weeks for the past 5 years. She is not only incredibly fast, but accurate. Shes pushed me to try new styles and has always succeeded in making me look like a million bucks when I leave the salon. Her highlights are fantastic and it never ceases to fail that I am asked out within a day of seeing her. The salon itself is very hip and mellow. There are no divas and no stylist would ever let you leave the salon with anything unflattering like those mullets that were so recently popular.

Stop playing and just do my hair right.

by mariko7525

I've tried virtually every high-end salon in SanFrancisco. Admittedly, I didn't see the man, but I believe salons are only as good as their staff stylists. For who will you visit when the primary is sick?
Decor is nothing special. No pampering, just a table full of magazines as any Supercuts provides. My appointment was for cut and color. My color was adequate. It didn't make me swoon "I love it!" (don't you love saying that?!)
As for my cut, I brought in pictures, went into detail about how I wanted romantic layers... Instead I got a mod, tapered cut looking nothing like my pictures.
Bottom line, they're adequate. But is adequate enough? Perhaps somewhere else, but in SF where there are so many fabulous salons, Hairplay is not good enough to boast this price list. For the same price, go anywhere on MaidenLane - they'll at least be attentive.

Pros: Flat Iron Pro's, Good Products

Cons: Poor End Result, Not Attentive, Overpriced

Not worth the money

by gabrielahl

I went to Hairplay based on "best value" recommendations but the hairstylist couldn't follow directions. I even gave her the benefit of the doubt and returned (with a photo!) to give her a chance to fix the cut only to have a shorter version of the same cut -- one I did not want. This stylist at least needs a lot more training. There is no savings if you have to turn around and go somewhere else to get your hair re-cut.

Pros: casual atmosphere, not crowded

Cons: poor skills, no parking, no bathrm sink

Second that Matt Works Wonders

Matt is the best hairdresser that I have been to. He took my curly frizzy head and transformed it. He is a modern day wonder. My hair is now stylish, manageable and looks great with minimal care". I am so glad that my friend referred me to him. He is now stuck with me for life! He also taught me style my hair and additionally is a wonderful colorist.

Unlike many hairstylists who are intent on pushing products, Matt is genuinely interested in hair and his clients - a rare find!

Not alot of greasy product to mess with. And she just did highlights, too, and they're fabulous! Go see Erin, you won't be sorry!

i went for the first time and will NOT be going back. i had a haircut with the owner, and after waiting 30 minutes, i asked him to clean up my haircut because it had lost its shape. i left with the most unstylish and boring cut with AWFUL bangs that start halfway back on my head. i will not step foot in there again. the place isn't that expensive, but i guess you get what you pay for.

Pros: easy to park, not that expensive

Cons: bad haircut, long wait

expensive & poorly done

by ffjjzz

I went to one of the 'top' stylists for color & was quite disappointed. I have naturally mahogany dark hair; I had lightened it & just wanted to go back to natural. I was nervous someone would douse it with tar-black & wanted my natural brown so I thought I'd pay more for subtlety. $95 & 3 hours of pretentious fussing later, I had...yes...tarrish looking hair with very little natural light or reflection in it. And this after enduring protein mixes, 'light' sprays & long-winded hair chemistry explanations. Im quite confident I could find a similar black on the shelf at Walgreens. All of the negatives of a fancy place (pretentiousness, heavy product pushing, very $$, long wait) without even decent results. (oh, and sanitation concerns...no bathroom sink???)

Pros: nice staff

Cons: $$$, poorly done

Great cut by Courtney

by stephbilo

I've been trying to get a certain cut that I had in college - a really difficult cut - for a few years now. Only one stylist in Chapel Hill, NC who introduced me to the cut could ever do it correctly. I've been to Boston salons, Chicago salons... Courtney did a masterful job. I love my hair. It's fun and perfectly cut!

Love it! Love it! Love it!

I recently visited Hair Play in Noe Valley and had a most pleasent experience. I was kindly greeted by the receptionist who went out of her way to show me to the magazines as well as offering me something to drink. My stylist was prompted and friendly, not to mentioned very talented. The salons atmosphere was comfortable and inviting. When I was ready to pay, I never felt pressure the purchase products but appreciated the fact that my stylist took the time to show me exactly what he used. The price was just right for my budget. I was also impressed by how genuine the receptionist was when completeing the sale. Overall, I left feeling like a million bucks!

Pros: casual atmosphere, friendly reception, talented stylists

overrated

by kimms3

After reading all the great reviews for this salon, I thought it would live up to all the hype. I came into the salon with very long straight hair hoping to get some nice layers and bangs done. I brought in several photos and described exactly what I wanted. My stylist was rude from the start. I showed him the photos, he took a super quick glance, then dismissed it. He basically did whatever he felt like doing. After he was done, all I could think was, my hair is a shorter version of what is was before;even my bangs look slightly trimmed. I questioned the layers and he said something odd along the lines of, " I won't sacrafice the cut." I guess I just picked the wrong stylist.

weird place

by re_99

there are a few people here who do very well, but there are also stylists that will give u a salon priced cut when my roomate will do a better job for free.

some real management issues ... if you decide to get a cut or color here make sure you have heard good things about the stylist.

Pros: good talent, friendly salon

Cons: BAD talent, Gross at times

takes too long

by xssrt

I've been at this hair salon 6 or 7 times and it's just takes too long. First, you have to wait until your stylist finish with previous client, then the assistant washes your hair. Usually, it took me 5 hours to highlight my har and trim them. However, result is pretty good. Bring a book with you, so you won't get to bored.

Always walk out smiling

by michelle.castillo

I've going to Erin for over two years and I am always walk out psyched. She has taken me from blonde to red and back to blonde, along with fun & funky highlights and from short to long to short again. She is always able to create something fun whatever my color or length. And she's super cool to boot. The salon has a great laid back atmosphere. xoxo Hairplay! Thank you!

Pros: great color, great cuts, laid-back atmosphere

totally satisfied

I can't believe what a great place Hairplay is. It is a very small yet comfortable salon. All the stylist are so warm and welcoming and they all get along so well. Courtney gave me the best haircut and color ever! One thing that impressed me was that although I was running a bit behind, she still greeted me and had an assistant start me with a conditioning treatment right away. I will definatley be back and will recomend it to all my friends!!
Thanks again to Courtney & Hairplay!

Pros: helpful receptionists, comfortable decor, friendly

I just moved recently to SF and I was dreading the whole trial and error of finding the right hairstylist and colorist... After reading about Hairplay and especially Fritz, I decided to give it a try... PERFECT! No need to search for anyone else! Perfect for a haircut, fabulous for highlights! I cannot recommend him enough. The salon is very lively and the staff very helpful. A++++++++ Thank you for making my transition to SF smooth.

A stylist with vision!!!

by fullmoonblessings

Fritz, the owner was able to look at my hair and design a style that complimented my face. I am very pleased with his vision and I don't have to worry about whether my hair is going to look good or not. I am able to relax and I am always pleased with the results. In addition, his staff and assistants are great and make me feel welcomed. I will continue to go the this shop!

Pros: nice atmosphere, creative hairstyling, very nice staff

Great Salon!

by kittykatmax

Having moved to the San Francisco area from Boston, my first attempt at getting my hair done - at a more expensive salon located in Palo Alto - was a disaster for cut and color. I waited miserably for three months before trying again. I read about Hair Play on City Search and Splendora, and decided to make an appointment there with Selida - a stylist and colorist mentioned positively here on City Search. Selida lifted the saturated color from my ends, darkened the band of lighter hair left by the other salon, and colored my very color-resistant gray roots to perfection. She even darkened my eyebrows for free. Also, the cut Selida gave my naturally curly hair is wonderful. I love the texture, and it's easy to work with. I will DEFINITELY be going back .

Pros: Reasonable, Attentive, Talented

Cons: Street Parking
