One of the most amazing Chinese cooking around. Very clean and very subtle in so many ways. I love the fried rice in here, tasty and very satisfying.

I have to admit that I enjoyed eating in here, there are a lot of good stuff to try and they have some of the best vegetable meals out there, perfect for vegans and not.

Stay away!!! Something drastic has happened/changed here. We have gone here probably 30 times over the last few years. Have even brought our kids and grandkids here and have enjoyed the food and service just about every time. Not this

My fiance and I have been to China Star more than once. For the last few years we've ordered out (over the phone) and had our food delivered to us. We usually get General Tso's Chicken with Fried Rice. I usually get my meat spiciness

We waited ten minutes to get a seat when they were dead on a Sunday night. The guy at the counter was on a social call for ten minutes and didn't even acknowledge us. An older lady finally realized we have not been seated and sat us. her English was so bad she repeated everything twice and didn't understand a thing we asked her. Of course the order was wrong but why tell her when she didn't understand to begin with? The food was steamed and not stirfried because the wok was not hot enough when stirfrying. $40.00 for toilet food and horrible service. The lady waited 15 minutes to give us the check when we were obviously done eating. (Plates were stacked and pushed to the edge of the tabloe as a hint)

I ordered "Mu Shu Pork with 4 pancakes" and got some oversalted cabbage and pork chunks with 4 out-of -package flour tortillas!! You would think that a Chinese restaurant would know the difference between Chinese pancakes and Mexican torillas!

Staff was very nice but the food was worse than the stuff that sits in warming trays for 6 hours in shopping center food courts... and, even with a coupon, it was not good value for the money.

I'm eat out for lunch during the week and love trying new places. A co-worker told me about this place and I have to give them a two thumbs up. Their Chinese food buffet was very good and the price was even better. This is definitely a place I would take my family. I would recommend anyone to go there and it's worth you buck.

This is the first time I've ever written A review, and I am doing it cause this place deserves it!!! I haven't had good Chinese food in a long time. Those Chinese food buffets that seem to be popping up everywhere are horrid! But I was really impressed with the food here. Like one reviewer said when you order an entree it comes with many little tid bits that they don't charge you extra for, like eggroll, couple fried shrimp pieces, soup and pork. The food comes out hot and freshly made, not like it's been sitting in a warming tube like you get at other restaurants. Might I suggest the honey sesame seed chicken, it's my favorite, my husband is a vegetarian and he loves their General Tso Tofu.

The out side of the restaurant can be a turn off just because it's on a strip mall but that's not the owners fault. Don't judge a book by it's cover. Once you walk it you forget that your in a little strip mall thanks to the view! The far side of the restaurant wall is nothing but glass windows giving you a perfect few of this long stretch of green grass from the golf course, spotted with a few pine tree. China Star is not a big restaurant, it's small, quiet, never crowded and peaceful. You don't have to strain to hear your boyfriend or girlfriend talk. That is a big plus to me.

I also love the sense of community, if you go into the bar you will see one wall has tons of pictures, pictures of the owners family, friends and regular customers celebrating events in the restaurant. This isn't just a business to them, their regular customers have become more then just customers.

It's really hard to find good food, good service and a peaceful atmosphere all at the same place.

And this review comes from someone that has been there more then once.

I eat at China Star all the time. I have a business next door to them, but even if I lived 15 miles away, I would drive down to enjoy their food. If you get the chance to come by, make sure you try the Mongolian Beef!

I love China Star!! I first went after seeing a newspaper article in 2007 of them winning the City Search award. They were NOT lying! You get the most for your money here. A typical entree comes with soup, egg roll, rice, fried shrimp and bbq pork. And that's easily under $15! You also get unlimited free hot tea and everyone gets the fortune cookie. The atmosphere is beautiful, especially on a summer evening. You can sit by the windows and watch the golfers head in or sit in a spacious booth with a colorful glass pendant lamp hanging over. It's very quiet inside, I hardly ever hear other conversations. Some of the wait staff doesn't speak tremendous good english but they are all very friendly and always have a smile on their face. I go here at least once a week!

My husband and I were looking for a place to break our children in, for Chinese food, as we were going to go to China and wanted the kids to get used to different food. My husband found China Star on the top 10 list for Chinese food. It is very difficult to find GOOD Chinese, and the reviews we read were all great! We went and were THRILLED with our order. We are vegetarian, and they accomodated us very nicely. The ladies that work there are amazing and sweet. We went back several times before our trip. When we returned, we had added a new member to our family. We had adopted a baby from China, and wanted to show her off to the ladies, as they knew were were going. They loved our baby, and spoke to her in Chinese and again, GREAT food! We have taken family, and friends to this restaurant and have made lovers out of all of them. I HIGHLY recommend their egg fu young (vegetable). I am not an egg fan, but just devour theirs. I think this place is awesome! My kids (who are very picky eaters) love it too. Thank You China Star! You are our favorite place to eat!

This is my first time using City Search. My fiance and I moved to Washington State in 2006 and we had a lot of trouble finding a good chinese restaurant. While in Kent, one day, we happened to be on Meeker Street and saw a sign for this little chinese bistro called China Star. So we decided to check it out. Were we ever impressed. The food tastes great. The tempora breading they use on their entrees is awesome. I always like my chinese food to be crispy so I am always completely satisfied when we go there. The temperature of the food is excellent. The atmosphere is quiet and romantic and not too bright and not too dark. Last time we went to China Star... I decided I didn't want soda or tea... or any alcoholic beverages to drink so I ordered Chocolate milk instead. They didn't really have chocolate milk... per say... but they improvised and brought me chocolate milk made with Nesquick chocolate powder (which is what I prefer anyway). I was impressed at how the staff does all they can to meet, and exceed, their customers' needs. And they have a bar there if you would like a cocktail while you dine. We don't get made to sit at the bar either... we can have our cocktails served at our table. The booths, as well as the chair seats, are really comfortable as they are cushioned for extra comfort. The price we pay for our meals is always reasonable. and, since restroom cleanliness is always a big concern for any customer, no matter where we are, I gotta tell you... the restrooms at China Star are always very clean and well kept. We were there for the Chinese New Year and we each got the little red tickets. I got one that gave me a 20% discount off of a purchase of $20 or more. My fiance got a ticket for free egg rolls. Since we didn't get to use them before the expiration dates... the ladies there told us they would still honor them if we brought them in after the expiration date. WOW... now THAT'S GREAT SERVICE. This is why we give them 5 stars. Great Job !!

Cons: I wonder if they could put t.v.'s in the main dining area.

My wife and I were in the mood for Chinese food the other night, saw the review and decided to go, were surprised at this hole in the wall in s strip mall in Kent...we should of gone the other way when we saw the large sign out front was only half lite and the place had a lounge. We both got sick that night, and we are still feeling the effects a week later. The food that was very poorly prepared and obviously tainted. Save your money and do not go to this restaurant.

Disappointing, very average Chinese food. The restaurant may have earned more stars if it hadn't been built up in my mind as "the best Chinese food in Seattle." My suggestion is that if you don't live in the immediate Kent area, don't go out of your way to visit. It's located in a strip mall, and its main customers come from the attached Best Western motel. The tables are sticky, the staff is kind if not a bit aloof. Sauces are gelatinous, chicken used is dark meat with bits of tendons.

Again, it isn't that China Star is bad, it's just that it's incredibly, insanely average and non-descript. We have no idea how China Star was rated as # 1. Perhaps I didn't visit the Seattle citysearch. Perhaps I visited "kent.citysearch.co m"? China Star may be in the Top 10 Chinese food establishments in Kent - maybe.

I love chinese food and I frequently try different chinese restuarants, but I'm a China Star regular for a reason. Their food is always served hot by very friendly servers. The ambiance is very relaxing with the dim lights and view of the golf course. They even deliver for free if you order a minimum of $20! When my office gets food delivered from China Star, the order is ALWAYS accurate. They have lunch, dinner and happy hour specials that you'll enjoy. Most of the dishes I've tasted have been yummy, but I especially recommend the following: general tsao's chicken, honey walnut prawns and their calamari appetizer. Their garlic chicken and cashew chicken almost taste the same and they're both kind of bland w/ too many veggies in the mix. So, I'd choose something else if I were you. If you don't know what to get, just ask your server. They're very helpful.

A friend recommended China Star to me and my boyfriend if we were ever in the Kent area. We stopped by one night for dinner. The service was awesome, and it's hard to find an Asian restaurant owned by Asians with NICE service. The people were very kind and very helpful in choosing our dinner. We ordered the chow fun, mandarin beef, and honey walnut prawns....and we cleaned the plates! yum yum! Oh and I found a new tropical drink, also the regulars that were there are friendly too if you're sitting in the bar area! ;o) If you're in the area, i recommend trying China Star. I'll be going back there soon.

My favorite dishes are the honey walnut prawns and any of the chow fun noodle dishes. Very tasty and flavorful. I dont know what the previous review was talking about. The restaurant also has a bar that my friends and I go to for happy hour. Its a good deal with half price appetizers. Free delivery is also a plus.

I saw everyone's great reviews of this place...since I was looking for a new chinese restaurant not too far from home I thought we'd give it a try. Mostly the food was bland. The General Tso's (with 3 stars for spicy) was barely spicy at all. The cashew chicken was mostly tasteless, unless you count the over abundance of onions. The potstickers were really good, however. Overall I would say I was unimpressed, and will probably not go back. I really wanted to like it, but came away unsatisfied and still looking for a really good Chinese restaurant in the Kent area.

Wow, what flavor!!!! The mongolian beef is the best I have had. Just enough spice, depending on how hot you like (2 ** is great). Anything manderin is very good. There are a few bland dishes, but not too many. I just cannot go back to the old places, they do not compare!

I stopped by last weekend for the Chinese New Year with a friend and recieved lucky red envelopes with food coupons inside. I instantly won an order of lumpia beef rolls for free! They were very tasty and I am happy I got introduced to this appetizer. I have been in a few times to China Star, but their menu is quite large so I have not tried many of the dishes because I like to stick with my usual, the honey glazed chicken. I will definitely order more lumpias in the future and am glad I got to taste them for free the first time around.

I was referred by a friend to try it out. Foods tasty, great service. The staff is very friendly and makes sure you are enjoying your meal. Definitely a place to recommend to others too. The lunch special was pretty cheap and food came out fast. I was able to enjoy my meal and get back to work on time for my 1 hour lunch break. Will be back for lunch again!

I 've been to China Star a great number of times since I came across it this past year. Its a bit hidden in the best western plaza, but a great find. I had gone to eat there before a few times when it was still "The Wok" which was pretty decent food, but since the new ownership change I would say there is a big difference. More menu items and friendlier service. I love how It is a kid friendly place that even offers basic fish and chips or chicken strips for the kids. My kids are young and dont exactly want to eat chinese food so the french fries are a good substitute. I dont come across many restaurants that cater to non-chinese food eaters. The food comes out pretty quick afer ordering and staff are very tentative to your needs.

I actually stopped by with my husband and kids the weekend of the wind storm, the restaurant was packed! it was pretty chaotic with the entire dining area and lounge full. Although food did come out a little delayed than usual, it was well worth the WAIT! Waiting in the restaurant with heat and warm tea was much better than staying in my house with no electricity. I saw a lot of first timers who were too impatient and disgruntled to actually have a good time, I would advise them all to go back when theres not a windstorm and then they will have a wonderful experience.

I saw a lot of first timers who were too impatient and disgruntled to actually have a good time, I would advise them all to go back when theres not a windstorm and then they will have a wonderful experience.

Pros: fast and friendly service, great tasting food, clean, great view of golfcourse during the day

.

After golfing a 100+, I went to China Star to eat some food with my golf buddies since it was right next to the golf course. The food was cheap, delicious and the service was great. Honey walnut prawns were the best by far. The owner (Ann) is friendly and can make a stiff drink. I will be sure to go there again.

I've had my share of Mongolian beef, but China Star's is absolutely the best I've ever had! Everything else I've tasted has been great as well. Definately give it a taste!

Oh my gosh... I loved how I was treated with great customer service and the food is great. It was by far the best place I have ever eaten at. I am so sad I was only in town for a couple of days. But, once I am in town again I am there every day.

It has been a while since I could brag for a Chinese restaurant, but this is one of those times. This place was great. I went with my daughter, we both were treated like gold. The food was delicious and lots of it! I am very picky when it comes to asian food. The almond chicken was the best I have ever had! I have made it my place to go for chinese food now. A must try!
