We were introduced to John's by a friend and have since shared our favorite place with friends, family and out-of-town guests. It's a small setting not far from the Mukilteo Ferry with an excellent chef and efficient and personable staff. We have tired just about everything on the menu over the last few years and never been disappointed. These days we often choose the seafood special and, no matter what it is, it's always been both cooked to perfection and presented in style. There's a good wine list and the portion size is just right, too. We're always satsified but never overstuffed - which means we can sometmes enjoy one of their delicious desserts as well!

Portions are shrinking and prices are climbing. We're frequent diners at John's because we enjoy the ambiance and friendly waitress that seems to hold that place together. But lately corners are being cut that affect the overall service and exclusivity of being that special dining place in Mukilteo it once was.

Pros: ambiance, friendly skilled waitress

Cons: pricey, small portions

Ambiance is good (they do the white cloth table cloths) and everything.

Had no complaints with the service.

Only real complaint about the food is that it's not Grouchy Chef. I am spoiled with having an incredible place so close, that it's difficult to just go back to good. Basically it's better food for 1/3 of the price.
John's does have a larger selection of food and 'atmosphere' though. It is near Arnie's, but doesn't have a view. I think it is also slightly more expensive than Arnie's.

This is the 3rd time we have eaten at John's Grill. It is small and intimate. The menu is not large, but has a good variety. There were four of us and the meals came out at different times with mine being the last to come. My companions were nearly finished with their meals. I believe there was only one wait person and he tried to make up for the slow service by offering me a soup, which I declined. The other three people in our party had the crab and clam chowder and thought it wonderful. The salads were fresh and nicely presented. My husband had the prawns which he liked. I chose the lamb chops which came late, but were prepared well. He did make up for it my giving me a free dessert which was excellent and beautifully presented. I think it was just an off evening for this restaurant because we asked for coffee after dinner and it was almost forgotten. I hope that they improve on the timing of the meals and attend to details. Our meals have always been good, but the wait staff needs some improvement.

Pros: Good food, and nicely presented

Cons: wait staff need more training or the kitchen needs to improve the timing of the meals
