Animal Specialty Group of Scottsdale should be your only logically choice if your dog or cat needs/potentially needs surgery!!!

I was referred to Dr. Lirtzman from my primary care vet when my cat tore both of his ACLs. I was expecting the worse in terms of cost and prognosis for my pet, since my vet referred me to a specialist.

First off, ASG is a state-of-the-art surgical center. It is nicer than most doctors offices used for treating people!!!

Dr. Lirtzman and his staff are what make his practice so unique and wonderful. He spends so much time with you during the appointment to make sure that you understand all of your options for treatment, as well as, possible outcomes from treatment.

When most surgeons/specialists want to get your pet on the operating table so they can make money, Dr. Lirtzman has a very conservative approach and uses surgery as a last resort.

In my case, he sent us home with directions on how to care for my pet and scheduled another appointment 30 days later. We did what he said and my cat is now doing fine with no surgery needed. I paid a small follow up fee for the appointment, and will probably/hopefully not need anymore of his services, even though he wants me to call him in 30 days.

Bottom line is that ASG and Dr. Lirtzman should be your only choice if your pet potentially needs surgery. Trust me, you will be happy that you scheduled the appointment with him.

Good Luck.

I recently took my dog Hugo to Ross for a liver tumor. He spent 2 hours watching Hugo, examining him and educating me. We have no choice but to do surgery. Hugo has a tumor on the right side of his liver. Three vets now including Ross Lirtzman agree that Hugo's surgery will probably be curative and the tumor is benign. That is the best prognosis anyone can get! Of course I am not in a great position right now to pay for this. I have applied to 23 agencies and one is willing to pay for some of it. I have fundraisers going on Wish Upon A Hero, Give Forward, and I have a paypal account with petsarefamily@live.com. I have raised $70.00 so far. I am disabled so doing the best I am able. I want Ross Lirtzman to do Hugo's surgery. His patience is amazing!! I would recommend the specialist in a heartbeat!!!

I brought my Old English Sheepdog, Cody to see Dr. Lirtzman because he has many problems with his hips and arthritis.
I was ready for him to say he needed a hip replacement.

Dr. Lirtzman spent so much time with us explaining everything to me about Cody's various problems and then he said he would not do surgery on Cody until we exhausted all
possibilites, such as pain medication, a diet, etc. And then and only then if none of that works we can think about doing surgery. I was shocked because when I took Cody to other vets they wanted to rush him into surgery.

Dr. Lirtzman really cares, it's amazing to me that his love for animals far exceeds the money he can make doing surgeries.

I was so impressed with him and will only take my dogs to him from now on for all orthopedic concerns

PROS: kind, patient, knowledgeable
CONS: Not one
