Horrible service. Greedy owner. Refused our coupons. Judging from other yahoo web reviews, they have a pattern of not accepting coupons. Dumb business practice because word of mouth spreads quickly.

Service: wonderful and attentive.

House salad: very plain served with watery dressing.

Kabob-e-Chupan (marinated Afghan spice lamb loin chops): excellent.

Royal Afghan Cuisine is definitely worth a return trip...perhaps we'll try their $8.95 Lunch Special Buffet (Mon-Fri, 11-3) next time.

Tonight we had an enjoyable experience dining at Royal Afghan Cuisine for the first time. We were greeted and seated immediately as there were only two other tables taken upon our arrival, but I guess it was a typical slow Tuesday night for restaurants in general.

The house salad was served with a creamy dill dressing, which could have been better if it wasn't so watered down. It was also on the plain side, iceberg lettuce with one half-slice of cucumber and one slice of tomato (see pic). The server brought out one basket of two slices of Afghan bread and a side of a spicy green dipping sauce which they call "chutney" but instead of the typical jelly-like consistency, it looked more like an olive oil dipping sauce with tapenade sunk to the bottom. I would have loved to enjoy more of this spicy sauce, but the two slices of bread were all we got.

We both ordered the Kabob-e-Chupan (marinated Afghan spice lamb loin chops) which came with rice and one quarter slice of grilled tomato...speaking of which, I just looked at the photo of Kabob-e-Chupan on their home page and it shows TWO quarter slices of grilled tomato plus a lemon wedge. As it turned out, I didn't miss that second slice of tomato, but I did enjoy every bit of those lamb loin chops...they were seasoned and cooked to perfection! Royal Afghan Cuisine is definitely worth a return trip...maybe we'll try the $8.95 Lunch Special Buffet (Mon-Fri, 11-3) everyone's talking about.
