This is by far the rudest group of useless individuals in the City of Fort Wayne. I live in an addition with an elementary school in it. Allow a common walking path for children going to school is a home with an external shed, There is a large (more than 25) group of feral cats living and breeding under this shed. As children pass by the cats come out after them. Though none of the children have been seriously harmed as of yet it is very likely that it will occur. Myself and many members of the neighborhood association have called repeatedly for AC&C to remove the hazard and the are constantly rude and state that it is not their responsibility to deal with cats. They say we have to come and rent traps and we have to bring a cat in within the trap. They will do nothing. Oh... and when you don't bring a trap in immediately they fine you for it. The city would be a better place if our taxes, that pay their salaries, were given to police and fire fighters. At least went you call either of them they respond.

What people need to understand is that you're animal should be spayed and the reason that shelters enforce this is because there are so many unwanted pets in the world that spaying them helps prevent this. So next time you see a dead animal on the road thank Animal Control for this. Also on the dead deer, lady seriously. They don't need to go warn everyone that their going to kill a deer because it's in agonizing pain first. Think about this, if you were lying on the road dying and you needed help would you want them to go and tell everyone not to look or get help for you? They do what they can with what they have. You can't look down on them for it

About a year ago, me and my family had a cat that was 19 years old and was very sick with cancer. he acted like he wasn't sick at all, but he looked really bad. about a week later he got outside and we couldn't find him. all the neighbors knew he was sick and wouldn't call on us. we called the Animal care and control to see if he was there and they wouldn't release any info. So we went down there and he was in the far back. We had taken him to the vet a week earlier and the vet knew he wasn't in good shape. at AC&C they were going to put him to sleep that night. they fined us $100 for being skinny. They called the vet and they explained everything about the cancer. they didn't drop the charges, and were extremely rude. Ultimately, they said we had to take him to the vet where we had him put to sleep.

Recently our dog suspiciosly dissapeared from our home and was dropped off at the shelter. They wrote us two citations and one was because she was not spade, but she was in fact spade a few years earlier. Even if she hadn't been spade it shouldn't have mattered becasue we do not live in the city limits, but they would told us they would not return the dog until we paid to have her spade. (Even if she hadn't been spade it shouldn't have mattered because the law says if we are not living in the city limits it doesn't apply to us.)
When we finally got to pick up the dog they were very rude to us. They were not understanding when we had good reason to believe someone unlawfully took our dog and dropped him off.

I was disappointed with Animal Care and Control recently. My children and I were traveling in our van down a busy street in Fort Wayne. Traffic was slowing and we came to a stop near several police cars and an Animal Control vehicle.

We then noticed that there was a deer that had been hit by a car and was suffering in the street. My kids were pretty upset about the poor animal. We could not get through the traffic so my kids just got to sit there and see all of this. Then without any warning at all as the policemen and the animal control men stood there watching, one drew his gun and shot two shots directly in to the deer. BOOM - without even thinking about who was watching or the possibility of the bullets hitting the pavement and flying elsewhere.

My kids will not forget this for a long time. They cried about the deer. I did try to explain that the deer was suffering, but I think they could have tried to get the cars that were close to move on through and then stop other cars from getting close before they did that !
