Of the many yarn stores I've visited in the US and overseas, Gourmet Yarn tops them all! It goes without saying that the selection of yarns, needles, bags, etc. is outstanding, but what I love the most is the welcoming atmosphere of the shop.

The shop offers classes of all levels and encourages customers to come, sit, and knit with each other. Margaret, David, and their staff are helpful but not intrusive. Attending the monthly Knit-ins and bi-annual Retreats are a way of getting to know other knitters, learn new techniques, share ideas, and have fun. I've never received such personal service as I do at this shop, and am always greeted by name when I walk in. I LOVE THIS STORE!

The owner of the store would not exchange the yarn I had purchased at her store because I did not have the receipt. The yarn was still in the condition it came off the shelf and was still in the small plastic pull-close bag that is used in the store as was the plastic bag that the addie turbo knitting needles with the price tag on it that I purchased at the same time. I was only asking for an EXCHANGE - NOT A REFUND!

I will not be doing business with this shop anymore and do not recommend it to anyone else.

I love this store. Being invited to sit and enjoy the shop on any of the comfy couches is a treat. I love to pass the time with both the employees and customers in this store. There is so much selection it is hard not to find exactly what you want, along with loads of stuff you didn't know you needed.

Gourmet Yarn is my little niche in this world. Everyone is so friendly. The staff is eager to help me with my questions or problems. The other knitters are there with open arms to welcome you to sit and knit with them. The Knit-Ins are wonderful - the best in town! There are always 25-35 people there knitting having fun. We sing, we play our instruments for entertainment and we LAUGH a lot.

I had not knitted for many years. I happened upon an upscale yarn store in New Orleans several years ago and spent a large amount of money. It only made me wish we had a store like that in Oklahoma City. A couple of years later Gourmet Yarn opened. It was several months after it opened that I discovered it. About that same time I retired from many years of surgical nursing. I had done some knitting but longed for the yarn I had seen at the shop in New Orleans. That is what Gourmet Yarn has become for me. It has been a place where I can call a home away from home while providing me a place to increase my knitting skills. Everyone there from Margaret to employees Melissa, Sandy, Nancy and Susan are more than helpful and feel more like friends than store employees. I can drop in any time and just look at yarns, sit and knit, ask for help with problems or just visit. It has been very interesting to me to see how the shop has grown. It is constantly improving it's inventory which doesn't help our pocket books but makes it so satisfying to know we have a place to shop with quality yarn and helpful people to feed our addition and improve our knitting skills with smiles and friendship.

The Gourmet Yarn Co. has become my home away from home! I end up traveling the hour to get there several times a week just to sit and knit with whoever happens to be there. The yarn selection is fabulous and the staff has always "gone the extra mile" to be helpful! The atmosphere Margaret has created here is a haven for knitters and has allowed me the opportunity to make friends I would otherwise never know. Her selection of patterns, books and other knitting notions is excellent! I highly recommend Gourmet Yarn!

You could not ask for a better "one stop shop" for all your knitting endeavors!! The staff as well as the owner are so nice. They go out of their way to be friendly and help you with any thing you need. I have been going to their monthly knit in on and off for several months. I still do not know everyone very well but everyone I have met has been more welcoming! If you would like to get together with some great ladies at a FABULOUS yarn store to learn to knit or work on any existing product this is the place to be!! You won't regret your visit to Gourmet Yarn!

I began shopping in the Gourmet Yarn Company about two weeks after they opened and I love this store. I had nearly quit knitting/crocheting due to lack of availability of quality/high end yarn in the Okla. City area. (True there is also a great yarn shop in Guthrie, but that's another town and takes a major time commitment to get there, shop and get home.) The yarn selection at GY is great-I never feel any need to shop on line--and the staff is going to help you or die trying. I've never witnesses any negative treatment of customers. Margaret has created the very popular monthly knit-ins and also has a store card you can receive stamps on then get $$'s off a purcahse. All these things keep me returning. Also she encourages you to come in and sit, knit, have a cup of coffee and a good time.

A one-stop shop for any knitter! Fantastic selection, varied array of classes and wonderful service. It's also just plain FUN to go in there. They host several "knit-togethers" of various types...something for everyone. I highly recommend this shop to any one who loves knitting!

I have learned to knit socks, felted purses and finished a sweater that had lain around my house for a year. I love browsing the shop and have always found Margaret and her team to be helpful and friendly. Thanks to Margaret's teachers and classes, I can cable fearlessly and generally find most patterns not intimidating. There's a nice selection of quality yarn that would appeal to both the novelty yarn shopper and the classic knitter.

I've been going to Gourmet Yarn for a little over two years now. Margaret has worked very hard to create a warm and welcoming environment for people to shop, learn to knit and to visit. She carries yarns such as Rowan, Manos de Uraguay, Buffalo Gold, Schaefer, Blue Heron, Classic Elite, Cascade 220, Cherry Tree Hill, and her own Peruvian Alpaca plus much more. Melissa, Sandy and Susan all work at Gourmet Yarn. I've never seen a customer walk thru the doors that didn't hear a hello or a may I help you. All three of those ladies are very helpful and will bend over backwards to assist Gourmet Yarn customers. Margaret also hosts a monthly knit-in that has gotten so popular we are running out of chairs. If you are visiting OKC or passing thru or just want to take a yarn road trip, this is a definite MUST for everyone.

Poor customer service. Owner bad mouths customers with other costumers in the store. Getting help gets harder and harder each time you come in. If you are not one of the "group" you are made to feel unwelcome. Try one of the other great shops in the metro. Linen sisters, Carol's, Happy cat. You will get great service there, but not here.

The Gourmet Yarn Co. is truly a store for the yarn connoisseur. The brands vary from Rowan to The Crystal Palace and the types vary from novelty to DK. It is surprising how much yarn is on display in such a rather small store. However, it is not crowded; I had plenty of room to push my daughter around in her stroller. The sales associate was very helpful and friendly. They offer a variety of knitting classes and have a knitting club that meets regularly. They will accept phone orders and custom orders. My one small complaint is the hours (10am-6pm). I will shop from this store again.
