A little lobster shack hidden in Connecticut. They have all the typical seafood items on a lobster bake and they also have hot dogs and chicken for the non seafood fans. This is a totally no frills lobster shack with picnic tables to dine by. We loved it here.

As my boyfriend and I were visiting relatives in CT, my boyfriend at the time found this place off the beaten path and presented the engagement ring. Well, now we've been married for about 14 years.. The lobster was great and so was the memory...

Abbott's Lobster in the rough is a lot like the places you find in Maine. No frills... just good lobster and clams. Eat it overlooking the water and you feel like you have arrived DownEast.

This is the best seafood you will find. The crab and lobster rolls are amazing. The chowder is great. The seating is all outdoors on the water. Really worth the journey.

Pros: great food

Cons: none

All the locals know this outdoor restaurant. It is very hard to find, very hard by car, but worth the trouble of getting lost a little bit. It is much easier to get there by boat and they have their own docks for "parking" while eating. This restaurant has the best prices for lobster, clams, mussels and general Clambake food. It is usually busy, so be prepared to wait in line.
Restaurant is not really the right word to call this eating establishment because it is different than anywhere else, and is so very New England. Whether arriving by car or boat, customers wait in the line to order at a window. Then go inside, the only area that you can eat inside. Wait near the counter for your order number to be called. Once served you take the plastic tray of food to areas outside, right on the water or under a open air tent. Lobsters and other shellfish are served on plastic with plastic utinsils so it is not fine dining, but this is the best way to eat Lobster in CT.
The atmosphere is friendly and lends itself to actual talking amoung strangers (which is not characteristic of New England)
If you just want to enjoy great seafood at good prices in a setting that is very pretty, try to find this place.

PROS: Great prices on Lobster, Different eating experience, Can get there by boat
CONS: Served on Plastic plates, always a wait in line.
