This is a reply to "Hack Job Haircut"

I am the owner of Poochies, A Pet Salon. This review was written last summer by someone who came into the salon complaining that their goldendoodle named Kipper had been hacked up by other salons in the past.

A goldendoodle is basically a standard poodle which should be groomed at least monthly.

I was very upset and at the time I wrote a message in haste on this very web page. I apologize for my outburst of anger.

This review on this page so upset me because even though this person only visited the salon on three occasions, she made herself feel very at home, walking into the back of the salon, reiterating over and over how wonderful we were to her dog.

The day Kip came into the salon he was so overgrown as he had been down the beach with the family. He was knotted all around his neck as he wore a thick collar. The owner had made. it abundantly clear that she like a "puffy" poodle-type head on every occasion that she had visited the salon Because of the fact that I had to use a short clip on blade, like they do at Supercuts, the plastic blades on top of the razor itself, I could only leave approximately an inch and a half to two inch length on the dogs body, legs and neck. Because the neck area was so knotted, I decided that symmetrically he would look better with a short poodle sporting head. His head "did not get shaved". He left with a
head that was longer than his body.

People come to Poochies because we give personalized service. They know my name, my wife, my dog. I do take it personally when someone who comes in so friendly then decides to not be personal. To not call and say, "What the hell happened to Kip's head" and I have the chance to reply to that pet owner's negative comment.

I was not busy that day. I was not rushed. By the way it took my wife and I a few months to realize who this pet must have been because they did not come back. We literally went through our schedule sheets trying to find out what dog it was. No one had complained verbally to us. We were dumbfounded.

This past holiday season a signed was placed on my door that read "this is not an automatic dog wash. Do not rush me. Each groom deserves the appropriate time."

Because of this review which is still on this site from the summer of 2010, I now phone each pet owner individually if I have to deviate from the requested haircut when they bring their pet into the salon.

Most of the time they hand you their pet in a rush, and leave. You then wash the pet, blowdry the pet, and then see how knotted they are and that there is no way you can fulfill the instructions left by their owner.

I hope that after reading my rebuttal to this review that people will feel confident that my salon is truly five star. You can check us out on Facebook at Poochies A Pet Salon. There are galleries of photos of dogs groomed over the holiday season.

Again, I wish this person would have contacted me. They are still welcome into my salon. Their pet was great. People get upset and have to vent. We all do. It is human.

The first few times Poochies groomed my dog with the utmost care and really listened to what I had to say about how I wanted my dog to look. Then I brought my dog in one day and they seemed very busy and rushed. I coudn't believe it was my dog when I picked him up as they SHAVED MY DOGS HEAD!!!! The groomer must have had a bad day. The dog looks absolutely ridiculous and no one can believe Poochies made my dog look so bad. They literally butchered his beautiful coat. Sadly I will not be returning to Poochies and I will not be referring anyone to this place of business. They have lost a good customer.

This is the best place to take your pet in the providence area. The two people who work there are husband and wife and they treat your pet just like their own pet. They do great work, fast work and the prices are more than reasonable, give them a try, you won't be disappointed!
