I first want to point out that ALL the other posts are years old. Maybe things have changed since then, but I felt I had to let peopple know that this gym is the BEST! Its pricing is average for the gyms in the area and I feel

They charge different rates for everyone...met someone being charged 18/month, another person 30/month and wanted to charge me 50 a month!!

No paper towels in bathroom, broken tiles, broken equipment. Asked about management and there's

Most expensive club within 50 miles. Owners are absent. Quit after they waited 6 months to fix a piece of equipment.

SUREGIRL Below is one of the owners!!! Bogus review.

11 children in a small babysitting room with 1 adult. Won't be bringing my kids.

I have worked out in clubs across the entire country and find Lyceum to be among the best of the best. The atmosphere is breathtaking! I feel like I'm in a 5 star spa or hotel when I'm there. The equipment is as good as it gets. The women's area and classes are top notch. People who work there are really nice. A totally positive experience. Good value for the price too!

I went to Lyceum II Health Club on a guest pass and I was very satisfied. It is a brand new health club and was very clean. The equipment was new and a lot of the cardio machines have their own TV screen. There is day care offered and the people who work in the day care are very nice. The only downfall to this health club is that it is very expensive.

Current members are now paying $53.00 per month to use this gym. "Select" new members will be paying only $19.95 a month for the first three months and then only $42.00 month ($11.00 less than existing members) for the rest of their membership. Over the course of this single year a loyal member will pay $198.15 more than a new member. How is that fair to existing members? Why no consideration for existing members?

You do not get what you pay for here. Here I am on vacation, and it is raining every day. Bummer. There is not much to do but go to the movies, eat/drink and/or work out. So, I stopped by this gym to try it out and was less than impressed. Numerous cardio machines has signs stating that they were "out of order", of the working machines, the first two I tried had tv screens/sound that were not really working, the next one squeaked so loudly that I was disturbing the people around me and earned me some nasty looks from my fellow patrons. The lights were turned off even though it was dark and gloomy inside and out. I asked for a towel and was told that they do not provide any. The music was so horrible that it put me to sleep rather than energize my workout. I asked if they could change the station and was told by the girl at the desk, with an eye roll, that all the stations were pretty bad. I purchased a gatorade and was told that I was not allowed to bring it back into the gym with me - something about my possibly spilling it and that would ruin the carpet??? I went to shower off and the shower floor and curtain was slimy and gross. Since it is still raining today, and this is not the only gym in the area, I will take myself and my money elsewhere.

Pros: not crowded

Cons: dirty, broken equipment, geriatric music - yawn

Looking for a new gym in my area, L2 was one of my options. I stopped by one day to get some info and I felt as if I was speaking to a realtor. It didn't feel personal and friendly, just felt like they were trying to get my money. The thing that bothered me the most, is that the gym representative could not quote me a specific monthly fee. It's almost as if she wanted to know what i could afford rather than what the membership fee actually was.
The biggest shame is that i have found a yoga teacher I love and I found out she teaches there, but I refuse to go to the gym to take her classes, mostly out of principle.
When I tried calling for rates over the phone, they also refused to tell me, like it was a big huge secret. I will never ever step foot in that gym. I don't know where they get off charging that much for fitness. it's not like it's NYC for crying out loud.

Pros: brand new building

Cons: way too expensive and not even worth it, impersonal staff.

They call this health club a "showcase" club whatever that is supposed to mean - who knows ? What I can tell you is that it is overpriced and underwhelming. It does not come close to delivering on the promises of the owners and their sales staff. This club does not have half the services that it purports to offer (I could not find the advertised vending cafe or tanning booth because they don't exist). The services they do provide such as the sauna often do not work properly (a cold sauna is not a sauna in my book) and the equipment which is several years old is no longer "state of the art" as claimed. And although they do have group fitness classes as advertised, the schedule is barren and bare, the room is tiny, the equipment provided for classes is second rate and the "sound system" (in reality a mini -CD player) inexplicably sits on top of a beer cooler. Kudos to the instructors for being able to teach any classes under such conditions. All in all, this is the most expensive club in this area and yet, it offers the least in terms of services to its members. So, while the club may be "pretty" to look at, that alone is not worth the increased cost. And by the way don't bother voicing any complaints to the management, once they have your cash in hand, they want nothing more to do with their members - all complaints fall upon deaf ears.

Pros: location, club is empty most of the time (does not bode well for its financial health)

Cons: unfinished, poor service, does not provide services advertised
