National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette  5 Star Rating - World class

National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette both a place of worship and a place to lose oneself in its beauty. The grounds of the shrine are dedicated to the rosary and a recreation of the miracle that inspired the shrine. In 1846 the Blessed Mother appeared to two shepherd children at La Salette, a small village in the French Alps. Through the children she gave her message of Reconciliation to the world.

In 1942 Missionaries of La Salette came to No. Attleboro to construct a seminary and ahrine. On the grounds a nice walking trail leads to a recreation of the miracle at the La Sallette Grotto. Also on the grounds are a rosary walk and a beatiful outdoor candle lighting area.

The best time to visit is in December during the annual Festival of Lights. Over 300,000 lights dazzle the crowd. The pathways are lit up with Christmas figures both religious and secular. I went last night with my nephew and niece (7 and 14) who were amazed by the display. Be prepared to spend at least an hour or two and wear good walking shoes! After your walk stop by the cafeteria for hot cocoa, and snacks. Then go to the gift shop filled with inspirational gifts.

PROS: Dazzling in December
CONS: none
