Walked in with my Mother the one day, because it was close by. Being right on Rt. 30 made everything convenient. Upon first look at the restaurant it had the Japanese look to it, with the low tables, the shoji screens, paper lanterns, overall it looked good.

No Hibachi for us, personally it's just fried food and only worth the money when with friends. So we ordered soup, and sushi.

The food was mediocre. Which completely contrasted the lovely design of the restaurant, but seriously there are better places to get good sushi and fresh sashimi. However, if you're looking for atmosphere and aren't familiar with Japanese food, then go for it. The place looks great and it is difficult to mess up at the Hibachi table. But, don't go for the sushi.

I have to say, I was a bit hesitant when I was searching for a quality Japanese restaurant as I was heading down to Atlantic City to celebrate a milestone wedding anniversary and started searching and noticed that most Japanese restaurants did not have their own websites so that I could compare, read reviews, prices, etc. etc.

I guess I am spoiled having been to many great Japanese restaurants from Nobu in N.Y.C. to Mikuni's in Sacramento Ca. to name a few, so when I came across ONE positive review of Mountain Fuji after searching for any kind of information about restaurants in the AC area, I started to target and whittle down my choice to Mountain Fuji in Absecon, NJ roughly 20 minutes away from the casinos.

Let me start by saying that upon entering Mountain Fuji, it was aesthetically appealing and gave you such a relaxed feeling. you were greeted warmly with smiles and genuine appreciation that you chose their location to sit down for dinner.

Because it was a special occasion for my wife and I, we brought with us a 1993 Dom Perignon to enjoy. Our order was not overly exotic, we ordered numerous hand rolls, such as salmon, Tuna, Shrimp tempura rolls and sushi pieces. One special we did order was the Lobster Roll and it was OUTSTANDING!!! When we order the said above items at the other places we have traveled, we of course had no complaints, BUT the one difference that I noticed with great delight was their preparation.

For example, my wife and I always order Christmas rolls, which is tuna w/avocado and caviar on the outside. At Mountain fuji, they call it a fantasy roll. Now as I said the difference is when you ask for a Hand roll, they include the avocado which was so fresh and added a different taste to the experience.

I can go on about the experience, but I will close by saying that my new place to visit when I go to Atlantic City is MOUNTAIN FUJI!!

A MUST PLACE FOR THE SERIOUS JAPANESE AFICIONADO.
