I purchased my 2003 T&C from Fitzmall at Baughmans Lane and was fairly satisfied with the purchase. I would not purchase my next car with them, nor recommend them, but that reason is for a different review. My complaint is with the service department. I regurlarly bring the car in for oil change, filter change, 23 point inspection etc. Every single time, I get a laundry list of what is "wrong" with my vehicle. I then take it to my TRUSTED mechanic and I am told that the vehicle checks out fine. The first time it happened at Fitz I was concerned of course, the second time made me suspicious. I guess the service manager T. thinks I am a ditzy female and no nothing about cars, reviews or Internet forums. My advice: check their work. I found my tire pressure was not adjusted, windshield fluid not topped off and even questioned if the oil was actually changed. I am tempted to send a strong letter to Mr. Fitzgerald because I doubt if this is what he has in mind for his company.

Purchased a used 2006 VW GLI in Feb 09' from Fitzgerald Auto Mall in Frederick, MD off of Baughmans Lane. Still with Full Manufacturer Warranty in place. A the time it was not disclosed to me that the car was sold with After-market parts. Shortly after purchasing there were major mechanical problems. I asked for the after-market items be replaced with the stock ones, I was told that they were replaced. Two years later I take the car back in for oil change and check engine light. I am told that it is because of "more" after-market parts and that it is going to cost me $$$$ this much to fix it. As of right now they have had my car for three weeks. The second week I had to phone harass them just to get an update to find out that they were supposedly still waiting for a part to come in. Guess what? Third week, same story. The sale was nice and beautifully easy, once you get to the Service side they sucker you in to squeeze you for all your worth. Thankfully I am a pretty good thinker and have had all my repairs done at no charge so far. Now that it has gotten to the point that it has, they will most certainly never get my business EVER AGAIN.

Honestly for medium walkers it is a bad experience. They are for money and too much of commercial environment. I went to lakeforest fitzmall selecting a 2005 sonata, the car was clean at that time and the sales lady Andrulla pestured and was behind me to buy the car. Finally i was sacked buying this car, gave me a 45 day warranty or 1250 miles. Guess what happened, less than a month just crossed the 1250 mile warranty it was diagnosed to have a drive belt issue and they have a quote of replacing the battery. i gave it to the service department and asked so your cars are good for just 1250 miles and craziest answer they say is YES. beware of Steve a sales rep at Lake forest, he will only hold 5 mins for the car or he would say I might not sell it I have a lot many customers to buy this car. I had to take this car for it had clean car fax. Within a month I received an estimate of 600 bucks for the repairs and replacements. I dont know how they managed the MD Inspection. If it had passed the MD Inspection, the batter cannot worn out right? I had repeatedly requested the Lakeforest facility to look at it but no one cares after the sale. They may be good for new cars and used cars above the range 15000. But think twice if you are trying to buy a car less thank $10000 or be prepared for the worst as soon as your warranty xpires. If you are not with the loaner program dont even think about servicing the car or maintinance with them because after this problem another problem or issue arises and they dont stop. you will enjoy a rental car but paying more money towards repairs and costs.

I recently had my daughters vehicle CHEVY COBALT 2008 16,000 miles serviced at the Frederick location. I first brought her car in because the power steering motor was bad...no prob under warranty and there was a RECALL also on that part...Chuck my service guy was very professional and my car was ready VERY QUICKLY same day....i was very happy..
SECOND EXPERIENCE..(STARTS OUT BAD BUT ENDS UP GOOD) A couple weeks later my daughter called me and said her car would not start..The car would not start and the key was somehow pulled out with the AC position on so the battery was dead...I then took the car back to fitz and left it over night.. Tom from service called me and told me the battery needed to be replaced and it was ready..After explaing to him what had happened again he called me back and said i needed a new shifter but it would be about 5 days untill it arrived...I told him NO PROBLEM just call me when it was ready..
The following week they called me and told me my car daughters car was ready...A short time later SETH from service called me and said Mr. Mason look something is still not right so i need to look at it again tomorrow.thursday..I explained to him that I MUST have my car ready by friday because my daughter is taking her drivers test..He said " i will call you first thing in the morning". The next morning i spoke with Tim the service manager and he told me he was getting involved and would find out what the problem was...Tim kept in contact with me all day, telling me they were replacing the ignition wire and other parts trying to resolve the ignition problem.. Tim was very professional and assured me that he would have my car TODAY...At this time, Tim knew i was very upset but he kept telling me i am handling this situation and he would take care of it...A couple hrs later he called me back and SAID they had found out what was wrong. Apparently the previous owner had installed a battery saving part that was bad and had caused the ignition to malfunction...my car was ready a short time later
I have to say i was pretty upset throughout this whole process but once Tim and Seth explained to me what had happened i truly feel they did the best they could...Everyone made me feel comfortable and the way they dealt with someone who was very upset i was very impressed...Sometimes things happen and are beyond our control and you just have to deal with it. The entire service staff did a GREAT JOB and i would recommend Fitz......

The entire Fitzgerald Mall concept is a fraud and a waste of someone??s time. First I found a car at the Frederick location, but upon looking at its features found out it was manual. So I was contacted by a Sondra Zahn who intern forwarded to a sales associate. Once I told him that the Vibe that I wanted was in Chambersburg Fitzmall, he indicated that would not be a problem ??we do that all of the time?, but he told me I had to fill out a credit application (even though I was paying in cash). I complied and then received a call from some type of manager and indicated that their needed to be an MD state inspection and that on a 2010 Vibe that could end of costing as much as $900.00. I told him that was ridiculous and that it should not be more than $75.00. He said he would be happy to sell me something on his lot and was not interested in helping purchase from any other location. Needless to say I hung up.
I then decided to call the Chambersburg, PA location. Talked with a sales person named Eric Lenkin and then was directed to contact the Fitz dealer in Gaithersburg, MD. I contacted the dealer and was directed to a salesperson Ankela, he said bring your trade-in by and get an appraisal. If you believe the website, all you need to do is bring in your trade in (cash for clinkers), a clean title and have had it for the last 6 months and you would be given the value that is calculated. Instead you wait around the dealer until someone test drives it and interrogates you about its condition. After receiving the appraisal I though that finally that my nightmare was over. NO, the Used Car Manager said I would need to pay $295.00 for state inspection. I said that having had autos recently inspected that a charge of 75-100 was the normal. He basically said take it or leave it. I left it.
Then another call to Eric Lenkin at the Chambersburg Fitzmall, he had said if I had any problem to give him a call. I did, explaining the inspection charges that Gaithersburg was to charge, he said they could get it done for 65.00. I said that I would drive it up if they would honor the appraisal from their Gaithersburg mall. He said sure and that that we could do it either way (I go to Chambersburg or they could meet me at the Gaithersburg dealership. I said work up the numbers and email me. Not to disappoint me with their service I received this email:
Hello Tom,
This is Jesse from Fitzgerald in Chambersburg. I understand that you had been to some of our other Fitzgerald locations and I would love to have a shot to earn your business. What I can do is do a sight unseen trade appraisal, this will get us within $500 dollars of what your trade is worth. I would also like to invite to our Chambersburg location. What time today will work for you to come see and drive this vehicle? Please call me at 717-264-3359. Thank you for your time and interest in Fitzgerald of Chambersburg and I will be looking forward to hearing from you soon
I replied:
Mr. Lee:
This continues to amaze me. If I had not purchase 2 new vehicles before from Fitzgerald, I would have thought this was some kind of joke. I just had the car appraised at Fitzgerald in Gaithersburg (so much for cash clunkers) and had a full value $2,500 given. The only catch was they (Gaithersburg Fitzgerald) were going to charge me $295.00 for a MD state inspection (some 200+ over normal). Based on what you have offered that would make more sense. I am tired of this "straight forward" games that you Fitz dealers have put me through. I am going to wait on my next purchase, give the car to a charity and avoid Fitzgerald dealers from now on. This has put a bad taste in a once very satisfied Fitz customer. Good luck in finding some other "sucker" that will play with you guys. If you don't want to honor at your Internet price at your Gaithersburg, MD with NO CONDITIONS. It should be clearly stated on the website that each dealer is independent and that in no way does Fitzgerald dealers work as a team.

I will be sure that my colleagues at the police department and family who in the past ten years have purchased a dozen new cars from Fitz know of the new business practices and the way the dealers act.
Signed,
One dissatisfied ex-Fitzgerald customer.

First of all, I want to stress the fact that I would rather eat dirt than go car shopping. I was shopping online for a new Mazda and was told by a friend to use Fitzgeralds price to get a better deal somewhere else, Well, that's a good theory but the real life application fails. I took Fitzgerald's internet price to TWO other dealers, they both told me they would beat the price but when I got into the back office they threw other things in and their prices ended up being higher than they promised. I finally ended up going to Fitzgerald in Frederick (even though it's an hour drive from where I live) My salesman Brent Johns was knowledgable and friendly, the car was cleaned and ready to go when I got there and the back office manager didn't add bogus charges to my purchase. If anyone is thinking of taking their price and trying to get a better deal, don't waste your time. Just go to Fitzgerald. I had a great experience.

Overall Fitz is a good place to buy. However, Fitz does not represent the best price a person can get if that person is willing to research and work.

I did purchase a Scion TC from Fitz in Gaithersburg. Given the Scion pricing practice, Fitz offered the best overall price. They did reduce the selling price several hundred dollars off the MSRP. That was not a big deal. However, they did offer more than KBB for my Toyota trade. That made the overall selling price the lowest I could find for the Scion.

What was interesting was the Fitz location selling the Scion offered me almost $2,000 more for my trade than did the Fitz location selling Mazda. I found that curious.

I do have a couple of caveats. First, beware of the finance department at Fitz. The pressure to buy numerous expensive items was unusually high. A couple of suggestions, when asked the inevitable question "how long do you plan to keep this car?", simply resond with only three years. This quickly takes the wind of their sails regarding an exended warranty. Then simply point to the sheet they will present with all the available packages of items and state - my answer is no to all of those!

Second, my research revealed for most makes, Fitz does not represent the lowest price. I was able to obtain much better pricing from other local dealers for a VW and a Mazda. All you need to do is mention Fitz to the other dealers and they will quickly beat the Fitz price. I ended up with the Scion because it was for my daughter and that was what she wanted. If I had purchased another make, I don't believe Fitz would have earned by business based on price.

I recently totalled my car and needed to purchase a new one. I have very poor credit but had a down payment from the insurance check that I had gotten from the accident. I had been to three other dealerships before visiting Fitzgerald Auto Mall- none of them gave me the time of day, one of them actually told me that I was wasting their time. I was treated with respect at Fitzgerald Auto Mall and my salesman Lloyd Mercer was very accomidating. He was able to get me financed on a car and even called me the day after I bought it to make sure that I was satisfied. The car is great, and I know where I'll be shopping in the future.

I greatly regret dealing with this company. First their prices are misleading (it would cost $2000 to get 0% financing, etc.), but I could deal with that. I could deal with the way they manipulated my wife in buying things she neither needed or wanted. I could accept that even though we we waiting for a week for some overpriced add-ons before we took posession, we had to drive the car around the block so they would not be responsible for any problems that occurred while it was in their possession. But what I could no accept is that they sold me a car that leaks badly every time it rains. There is no way the car could have been sitting on their lot without them being aware of this. Don't trust them and don't buy from them.

I have purchase several cars and trucks from Fitzgerald Automall in Frederick. They have conducted all repairs and service to these vehicles. The repair costs has matched or been very close to the local repair facilities in Frederick. Customer service has always been excellent. Service Dept personnel have always been personable and professional. I will continue to purchase from Fitzgerald of Frederick and I highly recommend the Frederick location.

Fitzgerald auto mall in frederick is a waste of time. I bought a 2006 cobalt ss from them and have had nothing but problems. Within the first 2 months my clutch went. I am not blaming them for that. However they tried to charge me for a new one. After debating back and forth they said they can cover it this one time??? Last time i checked that was covered under a item called a "warranty". I was heated that they tried to pull that on me. Then my sunroof button fell off. I had to go back 4 times to get that corrected. It would stay for a short period of time and fall off. After i finally went off about it they corrected it for good. Everytime i go in and drop my car off, they call me with "some new problem". And the bill is just outrageous. My car is in great condition. I would not take it there if i did not have to. But since its a lease and rentals are included its a must. But the service people there (not all) but most are rude. I am not sure who they think they are but wow. If i was the owner of fitz. I would be making some walk arounds and seeing how the business is running when he is not there. I would give them negative stars as a rating if i could. i would not recommend this place to anyone.

Fitzgerald used to have good service - I always had my VW's
serviced there - wouldn't go anywhere else - I don't know what happened but about a year ago things started going bad
I purchased my tires there - 2nd set, because the service was so good, even went against husbands advise - was told that tires came with 2yr road hazard - shortly after got tires, had a problem- the service man that sold tires wasn't there at the time. The service women was nasty - said I had to buy a new tire, it didn't even have 50 miles on it. When I said - no and if they didn't make it right they would never see me again, her smart comment was "we love threats" the service manager came out and said that the hazard came with the tire as I was told, now it's been about a year - I got a nail in a tire, I called the service manager - left two messages, no response so I went by after work. The shop foreman (nice guy) said he remembered me and confirmed what the service manager had said, so they told me to bring the car in, Next morning brought the car in- told the man checking me in that service manager told me to come and to check the road hazard
2 hours later they give me a bill of $66 to patch the tire. Not to mention I was not too happy, because I could have had my husband take the tire and get it fixed for $12.50 and it wouldn't have taken 2 hours of my time. Now I don't mind paying for service - I have laid out thousands of dollars - I love my car and intend to keep it forever but who would not buy road hazard on new tires? I was told it came with the tires. I will never deal with them again mostly due to the nasty service women at the check in desk the first time, Now in fairness the service manager did offer to make this right and called me but I have had enough, they can keep the $66 - I am not the only one that has seen the decline in service.

Fitzgeralds is a great place to buy a car but not great for service. They do not give you the best price upfront.

I bought my car from fitzgerals and thought that it was a positive experience. I have had my car serviced there but have not found it to be a pleasant experience. Whenever my car is serviced it is never completed on time. Also they always quote you at a higher price. Recently I told them they could only do two of the four jobs that needed to be done to my car because I found the other two jobs cheaper. They then offered to match it. It would be nice to get the best price first.

I was price shopping several dealerships online, (for over a month actually) and came across Fitzgeralds website. I live about an hour and a half away from the dealership so it obviously wasn't going to be my first choice. I sent them a price request e mail asking for their rock bottom number... within 3 minutes I received an e mail from the Internet Manager, an e mail from Brent Johns, and a Phone Call from Brent Johns. He explained that they have a no haggle low price and that it couldn't be beat. I said thanks for your time and didn't want to deal with him anymore. After about a week of shopping I realized that the price he had given me was infact unbeatable, not only that but he stayed in constant contact with me through the week with e mails and even another phone call. I purchased my new Mazda 3 from him this past week and couldn't be happier. I have never gotten the best price, AND the best service in one place before. If you're in the market for a car, look up Brent Johns at Fitzgeralds. A+ job all the way around.

I will never take any of my five (5) vehicles back to Fitzgerald Auto Mall for service. They are deceptive with their Scheduled Maintenance practices. I brought my new vehicle in for scheduled maintenance. From reviewing the owners manual, I was aware of what should be included. When the bill arrived it had numerous additional items and cost hundreds of dollars more than expected.

I compared the invoice with the list of scheduled maintenance items found in the owners manual and learned that Fitzgerald had added additional items. They tried to tell me it was "Mazda's scheduled maitenance program" but after further questioning, I found that they define their own Scheduled Maintenance program and try to pawn it off as "Mazda's scheduled maintenance program."

When I brought this to the attention of the Service Manager, he tried to hush me up and escort me out because there were other customers within earshot. Fitzgerald's "scheduled maintenance" cost me hundreds of more dollars than it should have. I'll never go back there again. I have since found an honest shop.

My experience with Fizgerald Auto Mall has been nothing but wonderful. I recently purchased my first vehichle at Auto City in Gaithersburg and I was received by helfrul eager employees every step of the way. Each and every one seemed to truly enjoy what they do and has an affinity for customer service.
I??ve had to take my vehiclein for service at the Frederick branch off of Rt. 40 a few times since purchasing my vehicle. My service provider has been fantastic to me and helped me out of a couple rough patches as a first time car owner. I??m sincerely thankful to this high-class group of people.
I would highly recommend purchasing a vehicle from this auto group. The service is unmatched and they operate on principles and morals rather than just on business strategy alone. I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the Fitzgerald employees. They truly made my life much simpler.

They have the worst service departments I have ever dealt with. Where do I start? 1. I bought a Subaru legacy from them and brought it in for an oil change at the Lakeforest location. Later that day my check engine light comes on and starts flashing. I pull over pop my hood and notice a puddle of oil by my feet. They forgot to tighten the oil plug (mechanics 101)2. My wife had an Izzue Rodeo that was making a clicking noise when it turned left. The head of the service department Gill Briggs heard the noise along with another mechanic. The used car service in Gaithersburg then sent my car over to the Fitzgerald Izzue store in Rockville. They had my car for a week and could not figure out what the noise was. The worst part is they would not return any of my calls to give me an update. I took the car to a local mechanic and fixed the problem in about 2hr.The worst part is at that time I worked there. Number 3 is the last time I did business with them. Which is to bad because buying a car from them is so easy. 3.

i bought a car from Fitz about 3 years ago. my first car purchase. i had to be financed but the car was not a bad price. i bought into their car program and every time i bring my car in they offer me lots of discounts and i bring in every coupon i can find. i've probably put in more money into the car then it's worth but i've finally paid off my car so now i have to maintain it. it's over 100k miles now but hopefully it will drive just fine for a few thousand miles more. i love the fact that they give me a loaner car. i do my drop-off on saturday,(also another discount for that) and my car is usually done within a few days. again, they always give me lots of discounts and i don't have to go without a car for a few days. as long as i'm able to stay on the road and get to work every day i don't mind paying for car repairs. it's better than having to pay for a new car

My daughter left her car with Fitzgerald Auto Mall for an oil change--they were also offering a free "23 point inspection." When she picked up her car, they gave her a statement which showed the oil change and the 23 point inspection. Before we left the premises, I suggested my daughter get a copy of what the inspection entailed so she would know what had been checked and what had not been checked. I went to the service counter and they gave me a blank form which listed the 23 items and each line had three boxes to be checked: ok, not ok, and borderline.

They had not given my daughter such a form. She went back in and talked to the manager who admitted that, in fact, the 23 point inspection had not been done. They told her to come back in one hour. A few hours later, she called in to confirm that the car was ready, and was told that they were just bringing it in to be checked.

These people cannot be trusted.

My husband and I recently purchased a used car from Fitzgerald Auto Mall and are very pleased with the service we received from everyone there; particularly Chris N. I would definitely recommend them to others in the market for a vehicle.

Service after the sale is certainly not a Fitzgerald highlight. The people are rude and the many times I've been there for service on my two Hyundais I felt like you're asking a big favor for them to take care of me in a reasonable amount of time. I have rarely gotten a smile, and the last time when the cashier was taking my money, she didn't even look at me. Additionally, in Fall 2007, they sent a "preferred customer" letter to me that said they had deals that would offer me up to $4000 off the window sticker price, but when I actually went to look at the cars, the two sales reps that I spoke with played the ad down and wouldn't give me a straight answer about anything. I was ready to buy, but after the experience I've had with them, I'll take my business elsewhere next time.

We purchased our last vehicle here. They were friendly and did not pressure us to make a decision. They even brought in our vehicle from 2 hours away so that we could see it. We had not even committed to buying it at that point. We did end up buying it, though. We also use their service department and they have been great as well.

I bought my Honda from Fitzgerald. They say they dont work on Commission, but it was kinda hard to believe that. Our sells man was very pushy. I did however like that they let me take the car to my mechanic before purchasing it. We got the car for around the blue book value which was good. There were a few places that had rust on the car that they fixed before we bought it, but it turned out that they really didnt'. A couple months later, someone backed into my car and when an other company went to fix that they found where the original damage was hidden.

I bought my minivan here in 2001 and plan to make all my car purchases in the future here. While the purchase started out wrong (a new sales man promised features that were not included in the said price), Fitzgerald quickly corrected the mistake and I received the features I was promised at no extra charge. I like that they are paid on my satisfaction and not commission, a wonderful maintenance plan is included with each purchase, they have loyalty discount program, and offer a loaner car with oil change or service. What more could you ask for. I was also able to shop for the vehicle over the internet, know the price before I stepped in the dealership door.,

We take our van to Fitzgerald Auto Mall. I love that I can get a loaner car at no charge while they repair my van. The van is alway ready when they say it is going to be ready. We have not had any problems with this company. Sometimes the bill is high but I think that auto repairs can just be pricey. The customer service has been good.
