doesn't deserve 1 star. The sauce was tomato sauce. The ribs had more fat than meat. Here is the best part ! As we were sitting outside trying to gag down these so called ribs, we noticed a rather large RAT running around the outside of

After son in law talked us into trying The Rib Cage, we relented. Ordered to go. When I opened my container at home, my dinner was charred to a crisp. Rib jerky, totally inedible. Sauce tasted and looked like an open can of tomato sauce.
Well considering you get nothing else with the ribs I went hungry.
My son in law without my knowledge called them later in the evening to let them know. They apologized and said free dinner on them.
We called today to collect. Guess what? Too bad too sad. They don't care. Very poor business practice to outright lie.
Lost me, lost my family and anyone else I can tell as a result. Never again.
Unfortunately to be published I have to give at least one star.

Pros: None

Cons: Name it.

I heard about the place and had to try it. I already knew the sauce is from heaven. I knew right off the start after seeing those knives brought to the table, that this place is for real.
This place has the the kind of sauce that made Monongahela river famous . Sweet is a bad word for sauce, but don't let me scare you away. They do have a sweeter version. Mild, hot , and extra hot. You can try them first. The ribs have that smoked flavor and I suppose all the meat is cooked with wood. You can see the place from the river, and I'll bet you could walk up the bank. Since high school in the 60's, all I have heard is going down that way for some ribs. Tradition still going well.

I live in Squirrel Hill but I work in Belle Vernon. My friends at work told me about The Rib Cage BBQ located in East Monongahela right on the river. I decided to give it a try a few weeks ago, and I was not disappointed! I seldom write reviews on restaurants, but I felt this experience was most certainly worthy. The Rib Cage has a warm homey feel and the woman behind the counter treated me as if I had been coming there for years. She was very friendly and owner even talked with me for a while. The food was nothing short of excellent. I had the special ( 2 pork chops and a 1/4 slab ) for only $10! - There was not way I was able to eat it all and had to take the left overs home with me for dinner. I tried their special sweet and tangy sauce and I absolutely loved it. It was by far the best BBQ sauce that I've had and I've been working all over Western PA for the past 20 years. I am not sure how many people know about this place but if you are ever in the area be sure to check it out! Google the rib cage bbq and their website comes up as the first listing - I think. I will be stopping back again very soon!
