The 3rd Avenue Cafe looks like a nice place and the place was packed so we figured it must be good. But, we quickly discovered that beauty is only skin deep. It suffers from understaffing; three servers who also double as cashiers and hostesses. They also have to bus their own tables and are constantly on the move. There appeared to be only one cook, who I later learned was the owner, and I don't think he knows how to handle multiple orders. Why else would it take over 45 minutes to get an undercooked hamburger? I ordered medium-well; they gave me one that was barely medium - still very pink inside. Our server asked if I wanted to send it back, but the prospect of waiting another 45 minutes was out of the question. So I ate around the outside edges, leaving the undone center on the plate. I also finished off the soggy, underdone French fries. I witnessed two people at an adjacent table send their burgers back, having caught a glimpse of one of them. They must have ordered medium, but these things looked rare - very rare. To her credit, our server crossed my burger off the bill and we only had to pay for our drinks and my wife's meal, which she said was OK. In short, if you're in the mood for sitting around and waiting for a long time for a so-so meal, this is the place for you.
