This is a newer practice, and that is just what they do - practice. When I went in for a cleaning, I was having no problems except for two old, loose fillings. Not only did I not get my cleaning, they insisted I had periodontal disease and needed repeated perio-cleanings for years to come. They insisted on replacing all my amalgam fillings with the newer white epoxy kind. They used no protective device when they drilled on my teeth to make sure I didn't inhale or swallow anything (and I am severely asthmatic). The new fillings left my bite severely off, and they weren't enthusiastic when I insisted they file sharp edges. My teeth hurt for the better part of a year, and are still excruciatingly sensitive. Every visit had billing errors, which the office couldn't or wouldn't resolve. We finally had to print out all the insurance payments, our payments, reconcile these with their bills, and take it all in to show them that we had paid every cent we owed. Only then did they agree that their billing software must have made an error. Both dentists are young, as in, not long out of dental school. I consulted with an experienced dentist a few years later, and was shocked to learn that no dentist he has known has ever found someone who needed all their fillings replaced! Not only that, but having opted against the perio-cleanings, and having not had a cleaning in between, he found no signs of any problems with my gums. I would never go back to this dental practice. In hindsight, they push lots of unnecessary and expensive work.
