I have been a regular customer at Sweet Peas Bistro for almost a year now. While they experienced their share of growing pains when they first opened, they have definately gotten it right. Two things I feel compelled to coment on.

#1 They truly have the best food at the lake. The portions are large, and the food always tastes fresh - not microwaved like I find at other local places. They change their menu seasonally, so you almost always find something new - and the weekend specials - just fabulous. I just about jump out of my chair everytime their sizzlin Fajits go by - they make the whole dining room smell so wonderful.

#2 The Monday Night Fish Fry is absolutely the best deal on the business. For $10 bucks you get a heaping plate of golden fried fish, french fries and hush puppies. If you are ever looking for me on Monday night - I gaurentee you'll find me at sweet peas.

Their service is friendly and efficient and they serve the best Martini in the business. This place is a homerun!

Sweet Peas Bistro, is a newly opened restaurant, right outside the turkeysag gate in Lake Monticello. Being that it's so close, my fiance and I decided to take the kids there for lunch on Sunday afternoon.

When we walked in, we found the place was clean, nicely decorated, and we were seated very quickly. I did however find it odd then no one ever brought us a menu or took our orders. After sitting there for quite a whole I called over a waitress. She told us that they don't use menu's on Sunday's It's all day brunch.

This isn't what I was interested in, and if I knew that from the get go, we wouldn't have wasted or time sitting there for no reason. I was going to give it a try anyway since we were there, but the items on their "brunch buffet" were not to my liking. Nothing looked appealing. All the food looked as though it had been there for hours on hours. The smell wasn't to pleasing either.

Needless to say we got up and left and haven't been back since. I wouldn't recommend this eatery if you are searching for excellence. There's no sign on the door stating that it's an all day brunch. no servers inform you of this, and the food doesn't appear to even be fit for an animal.

PROS: close by
CONS: poor service, unappealing food
