My husband and I have camping on the east rim of Cloudland in October for the last 4 years and we go again in another week. We like the east rim because it is the faster route to the waterfall trails. Not alot of trees to speak of but lots of grass and clean showers/restrooms and laundry. When there is plenty of rain the falls are spectacular. With the drought, we are not sure what we will see. But fall leaves....incredible! Dog friendly, on a 6 ft leash, but if you like to hike and take long walks, this is the place. Our pooch loves it. The views into the gorge are spectacular, and yes they are better from the east rim parking lot. The west rim camping is wooded and a bit more secluded from each camper, but we think the trails are better entered from the east. It will be our fall camping destination for many years to come!

Located on the western edge of Lookout Mountain, this is one of the most scenic parks in the state. The park straddles a deep gorge cut into the mountain by Sitton Gulch Creek, and elevation differs from 800 to 1,980 feet. The most spectacular view into the canyon is found near the picnic area parking lot; however, additional views can be found along the rim trail. You can hike,
pic-nic or camp or rent a cottage.Hardy visitors who hike to the bottom of the gorge find two waterfalls cascading over layers of sandstone and shale into pools below. Outdoor lovers do not miss this parks spectacular scenery. We go every couple of years and we all love it.

PROS: Great Ga get away
CONS:

This place is an incredible place to hike. There are hundreds of steps that take you down right next to several waterfalls. The good/bad thing about Cloudland Canyon are the steps. They give you quite a workout. They are not handicapped accessible to the bottom of the falls. The Canyon also has several cottages for rental.
