Has anyone checked out what's happening in Eagle Rock lately? It's becoming the coolest little undiscovered spot in Los Angeles. I just discovered this super funky boutique with what must be the most unusual name in the retail world. It's called FART. Well, they pronounce it F--ART, the F has an asterix next to it and on the front window it says "functional stuff for your life." It's like a MOCA store crossed with one of those echo park or silverlake clothing stores. They have a lot of MOCA style design type of household objects. They've got Koziol stuff, which is like Germany's Allessi, these brightly colored plastic characters for a stapler or salt and pepper shaker. They have really good soap by Claus Porto with the best packaging I've ever seen on a soap. They've got an eclectic selection of books and vases, these magnetic birds from France, rubber picture frames, kooky plush toys that have that Giant Robot feel, and those gun vases by Suck UK I've seen at the MOCA store, and retro wrapping paper. It's really what eagle rock needed. Now I don't have to drive to Silverlake or Hollywood to find cool stuff. Now, we just need an arthouse movie theater.
