I just want to start by saying that I have had serveral jobs done with Paul & Sons on multiple vehicles. Main reason was I thought that they were the most overall affordable service (IN TOWN). I know that I have been repeatedly overcharged in parts at the least. The customer service is courteous, patient, and they will answer all your questions, providing as much insight into the details as they can, if you ASK. HOWEVER, my extreme concern lies with the jobs they provide not being thorough and there is definitely some scamming going on here. I recently had my vehicle brought in for traction issues and others minor concerns. After telling me that they would provide diagnosis on on everything I had addressed they charged me $150 for each diagnosis. (Which basically entailed an inspection of my brakes and water pump, $150 each). They told me that I would need a complete rear brake replacement, which I agreed with. Also that I would need the water pump replaced, which I also agreed with, however I turned this down because they wanted $279 for this (which is way too much, I looked up the part myself and it was $50, and opted to put it in myself/ isn't a difficult job). They wanted $725 for the rear brake replacement, which I went with because I do not know how to replace the rear brakes myself, and after looking at the cost of parts alone, this was not a bad price. After replacing the rear brakes entirely, they took my vehicle for a "test drive" just to make sure the brakes were functioning properly. After returning from their test drive they mentioned that the ABS light was on. Apparently they must have ran a code for this because they informed me about the ABS and told me that the right front tire may need a speed sensor replacement, but they would need to "diagnose" this first (ANOTHER $150) and I started to get really frustrated. I asked why they thought it had to do with the "right front tire" and they explained that the code they ran specified the sensor on this tire. So what exactly were they asking for the $150 diagnosis for? To take a visiual look?? I figured I would take it home and look at it myself before having them do it. When driving the vehicle home I noted that the steering was very loose (needs an alignment, would have been nice if they had mentioned that after their test drive) and after getting home visually inpected the front right tire "speed sensor". IT WAS UNPLUGGED. Now you may want to read some of the other reviews listed on the internet for Paul & Sons, because you will notice a consistency of reported "unplugged" sensors that Paul & Sons offerered to "diagnose". http://www.insiderpages.com/b/15237718583/paul--sons-automotive-ridgecrest Scam being that they charge $150 to plug it back in or suggest replacement, which you can be sure they will overcharge you for, as well. I hope this helps some other customers out there in the future.
FOLLOW UP: Just today I took my vehicle back in and was informed by Jason Farris that he had "called and had my review removed". So here I am so put it back up here, and follow up. Brought my vehicle back in for ABS light. Was told I need both front wheel hubs replaced which will cost $1,000.00 and replacement of Rack & Pinion and Power Steering Pump which will cost $900.00. Absolutely unbelievable. Never going back to this business.
By the way, Jason Farris DID have my review on Google & Insider Removed (not sure how). I am shocked, and honestly wondering now if they are capable of having tampered with my vehicle this last time I brought it in.

It is unusual to find a shop with the level of service and expertise that Paul and Sons provides to its customers. We chose Paul and Sons for our vehicle maintenence because they were highly recomended by our friends and family. Initially, we noticed that some of their prices were slightly higher than some of the other shops in town, but we quickly realized that their customer service was leaps and bounds above the competition. Their facility was very well kept, their service manager took time to explain exactly what to expect, and they provided us with transportation when we needed it. They kept us updated on the status of our vehicle, and were able to properly diagnose and fix the vehicle in a timely manner. They performed a complimentary vehicle safety inspection and even washed the car inside and out!!! This shop is professional, honest and and great at what they do!

I have taken in my performance vehicle a number of times to have pretty large jobs done. All estimates given were in the approximate range of what i was told. The employees constantly kept me in the loop as far as when parts came in and/or if they found something that should be fixed while they further completed the assigned task. Aside from a few customer service blunders, my vehicle is in tip-top shape. If you call around Ridgecrest and the difference is just a few bucks, I recommend swinging your vehicle by for a service that may exceed your expectations!

We had a fantastic experience getting rescued by P&S after blowing a tire in Death Valley! They got to us quickly (no small feat in the middle of the night, in the desert) and got our car up on the truck with the swift precision of true professionals. It was a long ride back to Los Angeles, but they kept us feeling comfortable and at ease - you'd never know by our smiles and happy chatter that we'd just come from being stranded in the desert!

Thanks Paul & Sons! First class!

I recently took my car in to Paul and Sons and the level of service was very impressive. The friendly people there helped me to see the value of taking care of my car and keeping good maintenance to keep the cost of repairs down. They also did a complimentary vehicle inspection and let me know the exact condition of my car. And they don't "push sales on you", they just explained what they found and let me make the decision that was best for me and my car.
I was very impressed with this shop and the way they take care of there customers. It is the most professional shop I have ever been in.

I took my car for a smog check, They said they will work on it right away. It took them 5 hours to call me back, and then told me that my car failed the smog check. They also said that it need atleast $500 worth of work to it. I ask why it failed the smog and they said that for a fee of $150 they will find this out. I said hell no and i payed them for the smog check and left.

I took my car to a another shop down the street and within 1 hour they called me and said that my car passed the smog check with flying colors. I told them that the other shop said it failed, the mechanic said that my car just needed to be warmed up according to the manufactures settings. I do not recommed this shop. And the customer service is horrible, they treat you like crap!

We took our little suv there for a diagnosis since the check engine light came on. They told us it needed a tune up, new spark plugs, fuel injector cleaned, which we expected. They also told us that there was an error in the crank shaft sensor, and that it would be 700 dollars to replace the sensor, 1300 dollars with all the other stuff. We decided that was too expensive and commenced to change the spark plugs, air filter, ect. ourselves. While we were working on it, we noticed an electrical cord that had come unplugged. Lo and behold, it went to the crank shaft sensor. All we had to do was plug it back in, end of problem. You would think that when you pay $113 for a diagnosis they would check to see if the part was plugged in before telling us it would be a $700 repair. Good thing we checked first! They really need to work on their observation skills if they are charging people!

Paul & Sons does good work; however their customer service is not very good. I had my van there to get a new alternator and it took 5 days, when originally they said it would be done the next day. Then they ordered the wrong alternator so that’s why it took so long. Then they originally said it was $40 to tow and they charged me $45 and I even said something about it but they didn’t refund me the money.
