Repair needed to be re-done after a few months. They fitted used parts.
I would suggest going to a person who offers a warranty on whatever they perform.

Don't get me wrong, these people are friendly folks who mean no harm but sadly they have no clue about what they are doing.

1) Anyone who tightens the axle nut with an impact wrench instead of a torque wrench is asking for premature wheel bearing failure..not today, not tomorrow.. but soon enough. ( None of them know what a torque wrench is, they do not have one in their shop)
2) Anyone who lets the brake assembly hang by the hose is begging for a chance of slow brake leaks and subsequent brake failure.
3) Anyone who supports the cv axle with the transmission after dislodging it from it's steering knuckle...well, I'd show him the door if I were the boss!

The above three thumb rules are one in many that are taught in basic class 101. If you wanted to attempt the repair yourself, those are crucial points that you simply can't miss when you start reading tutorials online.
So I've caught them doing three critical mistakes during my first and only sitting. Like I said, they don't mean any harm, they only do what's told, ie. remove and replace. Anyone could do that, doing it right is what's very important.
Yes, their rates are low but there's a reason behind it.
Some tasks on cars are fail proof- like swapping the catalytic converter or the oil pan.. most are not. If you drive your car in, they will fix it for you, there's no doubt about that but they will do a sloppy job, which most certainly will show over time.

If you have no way of validating the mechanic's skills, it is imperative that you allow only certified people to touch your car. Follow that one rule and you will have your peace of mind.

I dropped my second car Honda Accord 1993 (IL) plate at his principal place for repair in March. He gave estimate of $1100.00. I didn't want to repair, instead of just tow it back. When i was going to tow it back -- My car got vanished. When i asked him(Leu) , he said "Police towed the car". I checked with police also, they never tow & were unaware of such Tow. I went back to Garfield auto, but they said "They didn't know".
Also one of my known person (***) repaired the car from him & he put used part in his car. I would suggest -- Any body who repair car from this garage, please verify if you got the NEW part in your car NOT the Used. That some time answers why they are 25% - 30% cheap than other mechanics.
***email me if you need more feedback about this shop.

I had my front brake rotors and pads replaced here for under $200, exactly as quoted on the phone. The owner Lou is super friendly and courteous. I dropped the car off just before noon, had lunch and when I come back, it's all done! The place could use some major clean-up though, but it's to be expected when they're all guys who are too busy fixing cars =) I'll definitely go back again and recommend this place to my friends. Give it a shot!

This place is not Sears by any means. As a woman I find it could use some clean up, but hey this is an auto garage not a department store. I had my front rotors and pads changed. Job took less than 1.5 hrs so I waited. Nice Asian buy quoted me 30% less than Tires Plus. I had a male friend recommend me to this place. After they took the old parts out, the mechanic kindly showed me what he replaced. I have been driving 5,000 miles and the new rotors aren't warp as before. My stops and clean and smooth. I would do business again.

I brought my Honda CRV to Garfield Auto when the timing belt tensioiner failed. I am very experienced in automotive repairs and would have done the work myself, but my wife was in the hospital and I didn't have the time. They did a great job, had it completed in a day and came in exactly on the estimated price-which was about 25% less than competing shops. I highly recommend them and will be passing on the info to others!
