I recently was admitted to the Indiana Surger Center North to have a tumor removed from my bladder. Everyone on the staff that took care of me was friendly and informative. I felt like I was talking to a friend about what was happening to me. They were there for me whenever I needed them. I am sure that most everyone has seen the commercial about Hendriks Comminity Hospital. The nurse is wheeling the patient to their car, but the patient is scraping their feet along the floor in front of them because they do not want to leave. That is how the surgery center made me feel!

I have had several outpatient surgeries here and have been pleased with the process and care. The staff are very understanding, walk you through everything and try their best to make you feel comfortable. I was always able to meet with my doctor and the anesthesiologist before the surgery. I was also able to have my husband wait in the room with me before and after surgery. I never felt rushed even though my procedures were considered outpatient.

PROS: Good care, understanding staff
CONS: none

I had outpatient surgery at the Indiana Surgery Center to have kidney stones removed from my ureter and have a stint put into my kidney. Once you have arrived and filled out the paperwork they take you back to a small room where they have a TV and comfortable seating and they have you take off your clothes and any jewelry. They give you a gown and footies and a cap and this is the room you stay in until its time for the procedure. The nursing staff that takes care of you are all very kind and friendly. They understand that you are nervous and help you deal with that. They explain everything they are doing as they do it. You actually walk to the operating room yourself which is interesting. When it is done you spend time in recovery so the nurses can wake you up from the anesthesia and make sure you stay awake. Then they give you any pain meds etc. Then you go back to your little room. They wheel you in on your bed and you can stay in that or when you feel up to it you can move to the chair. You are allowed to have two people in the room with you. This is where you stay until you are disharged. They wanted me to drink a glass of ginger ale I believe it was before they would let me leave. Surgery is certainly not fun but caring people taking care of you definately helps makes the experience more pleasant. The waiting room is nice and you are also able to get something to eat while you wait for someone to have their procedure done.
