I did not actually even get to give this office a chance. They were recommended to me, so I called for an appt. I was on hold for several minutes, then someone asked if I minded holding longer, I was on hold for several more minutes and then was hung up on. I called back, was on hold for several minutes, and was hung up on, this time without being acknowledged at all. I tried, but the unprofessionalism of the office staff was enough to turn me off. I will try one of the other recommended doctors: Dr. Seidel or Dr. Tahtawi.

I love Trianlge Ob-Gyn. We lived in Cary when we got pregnant the first time and Dr. V delivered our first. With our second we lived in Durham and I still chose to drive 45 minutes to get to Triangle because I LOVE THEM! The nurses, staff, midwives, and Drs are great! When we get pregnant again I will be back! The Kim delivered our 2nd, she knew us by name and spent a great deal of time educating us. The 2 girls at the front desk are great and helpful. They have always been so sweet! The only thing I did not like was having to go to the First Nurse visit with our second, I wanted to opt out, but couldn't (our babies are only 11 months apart). Even though I couldn't opt out, the nurse was very professional and helpful and it was useful in the end. I have recommended this practice to anyone that will listen. Yes sometimes you have to wait and sometimes the doctors forget to give you info. Thats why you ASK! Read a book, make a list of questions. They deliver beautiful babies, they're not mind readers. Jessica, Kim and Dr. V have spent hours collectively answeing our families questions. Plus the waiting time, it's usually because someone's in labor- that could be you soon. Sit back and enjoy your pregnancy. I LOVE Triangle OB-GYN!

I can't believe that anyone could say anything negative about this practice. I have a beautiful 7 month old thanks to the wonderful doctors & midwives at this practice! And even now they are still eagerly helping me to solve some other issues I am having. I delivered with Jessica and was a little apprehensive about not having a doctor, but now I wouldn't have had it any other way! She knew exactly what I needed to hear and coached me through an awesome delivery. She even did our cord blood and we had a very successful draw!

I'm having my first birth with Triangle Ob-Gyn, and I was shocked to read some of these negative reviews.

I have never had to wait long for any of my appointments (and having twins, I have lots of appointments). The staff have always been friendly and professional. The doctors have been excellent so far.

I don't like that you only get your lab results if they are abnormal. I always like to get the results either way, just so that I know someone checked them.

Besides that, I think this is an excellent practice. I can't help but wonder if some of the negative review are fake, because they are all from people who have only reviewed one business (this business) and they're all from the 27511 area code. Just weird.

This is the worst Dr's office I have ever been to. The doctor doesn't care, the office staff are rude and clueless. I asked for my medical records because I decided to leave. First they said they didn't get my form, then they said they had no records, and then they said they could not give me my own records. I cannot believe they are still in business. No wonder my condition has not been improved under their care.
Please stay away from them if you can.

Idiots. While I admit a few doulas recommended them as a last resort if I really, really wanted to deliver in Cary because they at least have midwives I cannot speak low enough of their policies and office staff. First, I wanted to do a meet and greet. Nope. Against policy. I complained and went elsewhere. Then, they changed their policies. Hooray! I thought this was a good sign. At least they seemed to care about new patients. Went in for a meet and greet (I am 24 weeks pregnant and just moved here from out of town) and it was a joke. In addition to much confusion about medical records (it was a meet and great therefore none were to be provided yet) I was asked to provide a co-pay. I thought this must be some form of confusion because every office I have ever been to including pediatrician offices in multiple cities does a quick meet and greet to answer major questions to ensure there is not a conflict in philosophy or practice personality that is really major. There is normally no charge. I explained this to them and when they did agree this is more industry standard they also said too bad "this is our policy". They told me that it was technically an office visit. I said well then it should be included with my global fee and there are NO copays for OB (only GYN). Nope. Not for meet and greets. This really upsets me because there had already been so much conflict about just needing to ask a few questions if only over the phone even. They refuse to give any information about their practice before obtaining money. Why is it that we are expected to buy without seeing? Further, the office manager was a terrible and unyielding, unsympathetic horrible boar of a woman whom I ended up in an argument with. I would rather give birth in a field than deal with people like this.

When I went to for colposcopy because an abnormal pap smear, I waited for one hour to finally get to see the Dr. But Dr V had no clue why I was there, I had to tell him my medical history. And he almost burned me with a very hot tool when he started examing me. How could you not know your patient's medical history when you are supposed to do a surgery? This is the worst office. If you care about your health, please see a different Dr.

I am really puzzled by the negative reviews here. I had a bad experience with my first pregnancy at another practice, so upon advice and recommendations from friends, I transferred to Triangle OBGYN for this pregnancy. I have been very pleased with the quality of care and professionalism of the medical staff as well as the support staff on all of my visits. I have only had a long wait on one appointment, and it was because the midwife had been delivering a baby - certainly a good reason to be running a little behind. The nurses, doctors, and midwives are always good about answering any questions I have and explaining things to me if I don't understand them. I have called the Triage nurse about 4 times during this pregnancy, and I have never waited more than about 15 minutes for her to call back. The waiting room is spacious and nicely decorated, and never very crowded. Also, the ultrasound technician, Lynn, is great - very calm and peaceful, and takes lots of time to explain everything we're seeing in the ultrasound. So far I am really happy with this practice - I am not giving them 5 stars simply because I have 13 weeks of pregnancy plus the delivery to go - after that I'll update my review.

Just wanted to warn others about my experience as well. I moved to the area at about 28 weeks pregnant and needed to find an obgyn. Thought I'd give them a try and was very unimpressed by their office. The front desk "schedulers" were pretty rude and incompetent-could not answer any of my questions, etc. Instead, they insisited on getting information on me before they could help me or answer any of my questions or even tell me what openings they had if any. They wanted a full summary of my current and past pregnancies a, complete medical history, personal info including social security number only for their own "review" of my case and would notify me in a couple of days as to if I made the "cut". I was offended by this process and refused to divulge all my personal info before I could even see one of their providers to know if I even wanted to become their patient. Needless to say, I never heard back from them (so I'm glad I didn't give them all of my personal info) so I obviously did not make the cut. My hunch is I was not worth their time b/c I'm hypothyroid and an "older" mom-too much work for them to bother. I came from a larger city having birthed two children with 2 different practices and have never come across a practice nor heard of any of my friends with their babies having an experience like this from a doctor's office. It was just very obvious they only cared about making sure you could pay your bills and if you were worth their time. I guess I was considered a bad investment for their time and just thought my experience may help another "older mom" considered high risk to not waste their time on this practice.

Avoid this office at all costs! I was seen by Dr Grana for a Physical Exam in August. I was told that I would not receive my pap smear results unless they were abnormal and was handed a piece of paper at my visit to call Lab Corp for my results. I forgot to call Lab Corp about my results until October. I was advised to call my doctors office. I called the nurse time and time again and she never returned my call. I finally spoke with the triage nurse who told me to call the manager. I spoke with her and she told me the nurse was out of the office and would call me the next day. She never did.
Finally in December I transfered my care to Cary Ob Gyn and they contacted Lab Corp for my results. Guess what? My pap smear results were ABNORMAL! I had to have a colposcopy and luckily that came back ok. About a week after I had already had my appointment at Cary Ob Gyn a nurse from Triangle Ob Gyn called me about my abnormal results from
August. She swore up and down that she had left me messages and I know that's not true. What kind of gynecologist office doesn't call back with abnormal results until four months later? They didn't even have the courtesy to return my calls
For your health please avoid this practice.

Hi, I have selected this facility since I wanted my second child to be born in Wakemed. In the first appointment itself the nurse and the staff had a wrong file on my name and it took them hours to figure out what the actual problem was. The staff and the nurse assistants never showed any good manners and always had some errors in the records. It made me really confused in most of the visits. They have very little space inside the clinic and it is always crowded. We are visited mostly by the midwives. They seem to be knowledgable but if we have any detailed questions or concerns we would defenitely need a doctors advice there and I had to reschedule the appointment. And the worst part is the lab since whenever we call them it would always go to there message box and they never called me back. It is hard to know the results like for a Glucose tolerance test.
So I would never recommend this facility to any of my friends and please do not go there if you really want to have a headache free pregnancy.

Unless you have no alternatives please avoid this place at any cost. This is one of the horrible places as one reviewer pointed out. STAY AWAY!!!
We wanted to make an appointment with them and they gave one during 12th week of pregnancy since they would not give one before it. We went ahead and scheduled anyway since my wife needs to see a doctor as she is on thyroid medication. They would not allow you to see any doctor before that despite she needign to take the medicine.
3 months passed, the appointment time came and gone. One day they called and said we missed the appointment and we need to pay $25 for the missed appointment. We were shocked since we thought we would get a courtesy call for the appointment as it was made so earlier. They sent a bill and we were contacting them to take it off. They one day called and said they are going to send it to collections. We were really appalled by their attitude. After we made the appointment we did not receive any policies or any other communication. How could we know there would be a missed appointment penalty without seeing their policies? I can not believe they said that since we have to visit so many times before the delivery and they were acting strange for a missed appointment?
They told us that they won't do courtesy calling. Ofcourse, they do not have courtesy then how can one expect a courtesy call? We did not expect this kind of treatment from this facility an we heard some bad experiencies from few of my friends after this happened
One more thing, they do not tell you or give you a copy of your test results (like pap smear etc)
I would avoid this place any any cost
Stay away and please beware!!

Doctors and midwifes are nice/knowledgeable, however, any physician's office that schedules on 10 minute increments and makes you wait almost an hour and a half EVERY TIME you visit has a problem. Both the doctors and midwives are willing to spend as much time with you as you need, which is great, but they overbook consistently. That, to me, spells poor office management & actually overshadows the great experience with the actual physicians & midwives. A shame, really. Otherwise a 4+ star rating...

They have really revamped their office and staff since my last pregnancy. All of the staff is extremely educated and take their time. Since the last time I was there it seems the wait to see the Dr./Midwife has definately shortened. I don't have the easiest schedule to work with however, the front desk always seems to make it work even if I have to come back in less then a week. All of my medical and insurance questions have been explained to me in a clear, easy to understand manner. Best staff and Drs. in the Triangle Area! Also if you are a little high strung like I am there is always a triage nurse to answer any questions you may have and Dr. V. is the best, for us people who have a hard time keeping calm

Like with most experiences, there are pros & cons. I'd like to present my opinion of the pros & cons. Keep in mind this is my first child & I have no other OB experience to compare.
PROS:
Unlike other posts, I found the office staff to be very friendly & nice. Many times I would tell them what doctor or midwife I wanted to see & they would schedule me with that person. They were also great about fitting me in whenever I would have a little "freak out" (fake contractions, baby isn't moving, etc...the typical first mommy freak outs). I never dealt with anyone in the billing dept.

Dr. V is very intelligent, reassuring, professional, & makes you feel valued

My favorite midwives were Jessica & Lucy

CONS
Sometimes, I would receive inconsistent messages from the doctors & midwives; For example, when I was having some contractions, Dr. G examined me & told me I was 80% effaced at 36 weeks & when subsequent midwives examined me weeks later, none agreed with Dr. G's estimate--in fact all estimates were not even close (a lot lower). Another example--one of the midwives told me they would not check my cervix unless need be at each appt; another told me they would check every appt. after 37 weeks.

Dr. G I'm sure is competent, but she has a way of talking down to you. For example, I gained slightly more weight than the recommendation & for 1 WEEK was measuring 2 over. She told that chances are, I would probably have a big baby & that I needed to get an ultrasound to "see if we were dealing with a 10 lbder" Turns out he was average size & I measured normal the next week. Talk about an overreaction. I should have never paid for the ultrasound. My general feeling from her is that she doesn't have the best bedside manner, but I"m sure she would be a competent dr. in the delivery room.

I received NO INFORMATION on a protocol for going into labor. When do they recommend I call? What if it is during the middle of the night? Will someone call me back & how long will that take? As my first baby, this information would have been helpful to have & at least give me peace of mind. I had to ask for the information myself--I just think giving out this should be standard protocol even though it is somewhat common sense.

Some of the nurses (not midwives) were so hot & cold. Some visits they would chat it up with you & ask you how you were; other visits they would act like it was an inconvenience to do their job.

For #2 I will probably move to a smaller practice. I really want the dr. or midwife delivering my baby to know me by name. Also it helps, for purposes of reliability, when the same person is measuring you & checking your cervix. As I said, these drs. were a bit inconsistent.

All in all, I have learned that no matter what you have to advocate for yourself, ask questions, and be assertive. Even with the best of intentions, drs. & midwives sometimes get it wrong or assume you know things you don't.

Shortly after moving to the area I was diagnosed with cervical cancer. I had seen another GYN and when I had the abnormal pap I was told I had to wait 7 weeks for a biopsy. I was reassured that it was fine only to find out 7 weeks later that I did indeed have cervical cancer. I went through hell and back with the other doctor, I had surgery and saw an oncologist for a year. When I was finally given the okay to go back to an OBGYN, my oncologist referred me to Dr. Grana. I was newly married and wanted to start a family right away, we were not sure if we would be able to conceive much less hold a pregnancy because of my surgery (part of my cervix had to be removed). We did get pregnant and I went for my first appointment. When I got there, I went through all the 1st time pregnancy stuff with Lucy and all the insurance info with Wanda, and there was apparently a miscommunication because I thought I was going to see the doctor. I explained my concerns, and Lucy went to talk to Dr. V, within minutes Dr. V came to see me and even did a sonogram. Throughout the pregnancy I was monitored closely. I had some issues because of heart medication that I take as well, and of course all normal concerns a woman has throughout her pregnancy. I was always taken seriously and treated with kindness and compassion. Dr Grana always explained all of my options and what to expect. I requested to be MD only, meaning only one of the doctors would deliver my baby, I did however see a few of the midwives for appointments in a pinch. I was having contractions when I went for my due date app't, they did an NST and found my baby's heart rate decelerating during contractions. I was sent to the hospital and monitored. The baby's heart rate was fine and we proceeded to try for a vaginal delivery. I ended up having an emergency c-section because my son would not come through the birth canal. Dr. Grana was there for it all, she stayed well past her on call shift to deliver my baby. I was always treated with kindness and compassion, even when I woke Dr. V in the middle of the night and it turned out to be Braxton Hicks. The doctors always knew me and I received the individual care I wanted. I could not be more pleased with the care that I have received from Triangle OBGYN. I would agree that there is something lacking in the support staff, but it was a small price to pay for the excellent care I received.

Honestly after having read most of the reviews here I really thought that I might have a different experience with this practice- how wrong was I? Well.... I called in as new patient to sign up for an OB appt. The receptionist did not give me an appt right away but took all my info down (details, insurance the standard information)- this is first practice that I have seen that makes sure you can pay them before they even see you! She then notified me that the practice has to verify my insurance and therefore they cannot book me for an appt. I waited for 10 days for a call and finally a lady named WANDA called me back. She stated right away that they will not be able to take me on a patient because I was moving here from a different state and only coming for a month. I notified here that it was not the case and I was looking to see the doctor starting 34 weeks until I delivered. She again called my insurance company to verify the payment plan and the co-payment and finally gave me a call back stating that I was not responsible for any cost on my behalf (mind you I had already told them this 10 days ago). Wanda continued to be very rude to me and had no desire to take me on as a patient. When I asked if I could make an appointment within the next 15 days she refused and said she would have to talk to the doctor about it.

Also on top of all of this inconvenience the real reason I decided to go to this practice is because I wanted to have a natural childbirth experience and have a midwife deliver my baby. Regardless when I asked Wanda why she had to make sure with the doctor about me when I really just wanted to see the midwives she responded that I would have to see all of the midwives and the doctors (all 8) and anyone of them could deliver my baby. I then asked myself what is the point of seeing a midwife if you cant even be sure if a midwife will deliver your baby or not?

All in all I had a HORRIBLE experience with the staff of this office in all aspects. Wanda- who is in the billing dept, is especially unprofessional and lacks in any sensibility towards a pregnant woman. And to top off I feel this way without EVER even going to the office- I don't know what my reaction would be if I ever went.

Needless to say Wanda hung up on me and I am glad she did, because I was quick to find another OB just down the road who I am much happier with.

I am a labor and delivery nurse at Wake Med in Cary. I get to see all the doctor groups that come to the hospital in action. Though all the practices provide safe care, Triangle OB is by far the best practice overall. They provide safe and compassionate care....a big plus for me. I have been with Triangle OB for 10 years as a patient also. They have cared for me through happy times and sad times. The doctors, midwives and nurses are wonderful.

I have 5 children and my two youngest (ages 18mo and 4) were delivered with Triangle ObGyn. My experience was very positive. I was very excited about having the opportunity to have a mid-wife deliver my babies. We've moved around a lot and my first 3 kids were delivered by doctors in various other cities with less than pleasant results. We were lucky enough to have the same mid-wife deliver both of our children but, saw a number of the other mid-wives and doctors along the way and they were all great, taking time to answer all of my questions etc.I would recommend this practice to anyone looking for a positive birthing experience.

I transferred to Triangle OB-GYN at 36 weeks because I did not feel I was getting the proper attention at my previous OB's office. I was amazed with the time that was given to answer all my questions and to inform me of my options. At 38 weeks I had an exceptional deliver experience. The midwife on call was wonderful and took a lot of time to make sure my body was ready. I never felt unsure of what was happening, in fact I was surprised at how much attention I received. I would recommend Triangle OB-GYN to anyone looking for a more personal experience.

I transferred to this practice hoping to receive the nurture of a midwife. I did not receive any nurturing from the midwife I saw and felt rather "mothered". I also (like the other reviews) waited 45 minutes before being called back and then another 45 minutes once I put on the nice gown they provided. I was offered no apologies. I also found the office staff to be very unfriendly (even at my attempts to be friendly)

After that bad appointment, I was still willing to retry with another midwife. After finding out I was pregnant, I was horribly disappointed to learn that they don't really schedule appointments very far in advance...sometimes, only two weeks in advance..which is very inconvenient. Then, upon undergoing an insurance change, this practice would not allow me to even schedule an appointment until I received my new insurance card. Evidently, they have to plan the billing before my first OB visit, so if I stayed with this practice, I wouldn't be able to see the doctor until I was 15 weeks. It was a bad experience for an already emotional pregnant lady. Please don't put yourself through the same misery.

At first I loved the seemingly fun, disorgranized atmosphere at this practice...but soon I felt the ramifications. I really don't think anyone knew my name and the midwives seemd to change quite a bit, except Kim who was great. I often waited upwards of an hour and received very little time, attention or communication, which I needed as it was my first baby. Due to an entrapped bladder, I could not urinate at 13 weeks- 15 weeks and had to be catheterized -- this entailed a couple of trips to the ER and a trip to this practice. During my practice appointment, I was cathed but no doctor ever followed up with me or was the issue addressed by a midwife - looking back, I just can't believe that no-one addressed this issue. This happened (entrapped bladder) during my 2nd pregnancy and the new practive was very attentive and took great interest in helping me get through it - it lasted a month thsi tiem and I could not have made it with the TriangeloOB/GYN...I would have had to rely on teh ER - very costly! Additionally, when I showed up for my 12 week ultrasound, this practice had the wrong file for me and insisted I was wrong about my own due date...until they looked more closely and realized they had the wrong file. I tried to switch and was quickly put in touch with a nurse who tried to talk me out of it and said bad things about the practice I was looking to change to...very unprofessional. Needless to say, I stuck with them because it was easier. I am now with a new practice just down the road and LOVE it! My advice - don't sell yourself short when looking for an OB/GYN - it is too important! You should really like your docs and your experience! I did like Dr V, but did not see him until I was 40 weeks along!

Really advise looking elsewhere!

Dr. V and Dr. Grana were wonderful doctors; however, the midwives left something to be desired. I would wait at least an hour at every scheduled visit before getting called back and waiting an additional 30min to be seen once in an exam room. I was never apologized to for being put on hold so long, only told they were a busy practice.

The doctors took their time with me and answered my questions. I had a few since this was my first pregnancy. The midwives swooped in for 3 minutes after I had been waiting so long and walked out without asking if I had any questions or even acknowledging me or my husband. They only did the usual measuring and doppler to listen to baby's heartbeat without saying anything except to ask if I had any new symptoms. When I found out from one of the doctors that the midwives delivered the baby unless you were high risk, I left the practice in my 24th week and pursued another practice around the corner where the doctor delivered my beautiful little girl and I also had a much better connection with their staff with no wait at any of my appointments.

I am grateful to the doctors at Triangle for their part in the beginning, but I could not allow such uncaring midwives to deliver my baby or care for my needs.

I have been a patient at this practice for over 3 years. I first started seeing the Drs and Midwives when I found out I was pregnant with my first child. The practice came highly recommended since Dr V was the dr who preformed an emergency surgery on my mother many years ago. I enjoy the fact that the atmosphere is relaxed and all the staff really get to know you. There are nurses who still remember me from 3 years ago when I was pregnant with my son.

With this practice you must remember that they have the best interest of ALL thier patients in mind. Sometimes waiting 45 mins to be seen is not top priority when the Dr you are seeing is also on call and at the hospital having to make emergency deliveries. Traffic is not the main concern when scheduling appointments and if you have a preference of who you will be seen by or when you will be seen then they will give you the earliest possible appointment whether it be 3 or 6 weeks away.

Keep in mind that this is NOT a small family practice where you will see one Dr your entire pregnancy and just because you may see one Dr more than others does not mean that Dr or midwife will be the one on call when you go into labor.

I have the choice to be at the practice and I love it, I wouldnt go anywhere else. You just have to go with the flow because you know the Drs have your best medical interests at heart.

I've moved around & delivered in 3 different locations, with 3 different doctors. I've learned Dr's & midwives aren't mind readers. They also have patients other than YOU that go into labor & need to be delivered during your appointment time. Wouldn't you be mad to find out they kept you on 'hold' to see an office patient? I did have to wait some of the time, but was told why.

I had an unplanned C-section with Baby #1 & VBAC's for babies #2 & 3. Triangle OBGYN is exactly what I wanted. I wanted a mid-wife delivery with Doctor back up should it become necessary since this was my second VBAC, which is what they advertise in their practice. If you want a doctor delivery, this isn't the practice for you. I love that I rotated around the different doctors/midwifes so that I knew them all & wouldn't be delivered by a stranger if my 'doctor' was on vacation during my due date time period.

I wanted a hands on midwife to help instead of a doctor sweeping in at the last minute. I had unforeseen complications with my delivery before the baby finished crowning. He turned 3 times in the birth canal due to the cord being wrapped tightly around his neck & acting like a bungee cord. Thank goodness my midwife was there to cut the cord so the baby could be pushed out. I'm glad she knew her limitations when it came so sewing my +70 stitches in the birth canal & called in one of the doctors with more experience. Some might think that means I didn't get the best of care, from a mid-wife but most women don't tear to the extent that I did, so it's impossible to know what you'll need. With baby #2 I only needed a few stitches. I know I got the best of care under the circumstances. Dr. V was also helpful in dealing with my post-delivery healing/complications due to my vaginal hematoma. I'm know complications can happen in deliveries & am grateful for the way they included me on the decision making instead of just assuming they knew what was best for me.

I began seeing the doctors in this practice 2 years before i was pregnant... when i found out i was pregnant there was no question in my mind to keep seeing them... the doctors and midwifes are very smart and very proffesional... the office staff may not be the same...but they are not the ones delivering my baby or taking care of me so is that is not an issue..i highly recommmend this practice to anyone that is pregnant or just looking for a gyn

I had to write after reading some of these reviews. I have 4 children with 2 of these pregnancys with Tri ob. They take care of you and tell you how it is going to be for your medical best interest! That's life and not every pregnancy is perfect or going to go according to your birthing plan. Keep in mind if they are running late it may be because they are delivering babies at the hospital- some under emergency circumstances as in my case. Just something to think about when it really counts!! After a visit with Dr. V, he advised I needed to have my son asap and we were delivered within an hour after coming into the office. Their location is so close to the hospital which was a blessing. I'm proud to call tri ob my doctors and would recommend them!

PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRACTICE!!!! As a new resident to this area, I was in search of an Obstetrician especially since I was approaching my last trimester of pregnancy. I called the Triangle OBGYN office after seeing their advertisements in many of the local parenting magazines. Well, after placing what I considered a simple phone call to schedule an appointment, I was asked to complete an over the phone health history by someone who clearly had no medical background knowledge or medical terminology knowledge. In addition, after talking with this individual for about 10 min., I was told that she could not assist me with an appointment until my insurance was verified and she didn't know how long (meaning days) that would take. After a day of waiting, I called back to speak with the manager who exhibited even far less phone etiquette and any sense of medical knowledge than the receptionist. Furthermore, my phone call ended with this manager mandating that I was to see a nurse midwife on my first appointment since that was standard protocol in their office even though I requested to see the OB. I was also told that the midwife might very well deliver my baby even though that was not apart of my birthing plan. Needless to say, the conversation ended with me explaining to this manager that as a patient, I determined what practitioner I wanted to receive treatment from not her. And my appointment was cancelled.

About 2 years ago, the staff seemed to get a bit disorganized. At some points, I would have a minimal wait. Other times, I was in the waiting room for 45 minutes. It happens, but then it seemed that the organization and communication started to wane a bit.

When I called to make an appointment for my annual exam, I told the appointments person that I wanted to be seen by a female, either the doctor or midwife. I was given a date that was 6 weeks away. My response was "For a routine exam?" Her response was "To see the female doctor, yes." When I indicated again that I didn't mind seeing the midwife, I was given an appointment 3 weeks out on a Friday at 4:15 pm (just in time for traffic!).

I decided to just find someone else, cancelled my appointment and asked how I go about transferring my records. I was transferred to the records line where an outgoing message indicated that records were copied every Wednesday by an outside company and it was absolutely imperative to fill out a form to release my records. I left a message giving my fax number to receive the form from the office and faxed it back to the office.

Two weeks later I received a bill from the company that copied my records. My problem with this was that I was never told, on the form or on the outgoing message, that I would be charged.

I called to speak to the office manager and he approached the conversation in fighting mode. All I wanted to convey was that communication seemed poor in the office and it was the reason I was leaving. The conversation could have gone:

Me: I was never informed of the fee and honestly, communication in your office is one of the reasons I left the practice.
Him: I??m sorry you feel that way but that??s the way we do things. I will make sure to see that it is communicated in the future and I??m sorry for any inconvenience this caused you.

Customer Service 101. Instead, I got stories about the DMV, a history of the copying company and challenged to do his job for him. No thanks.

It ended up being a nonsensical fight. It began with me indicating I??d never been told about the fee. He first responded ??Well, that??s between you and the copying company.? I told him it was a bit disingenuous because I had no control over the company they chose and if I was given the option of copying the records myself, I would have.

Then his responses were then just bizarre, including:

- They??ve been with the document company for 6 years (not sure what that had to do with their office communication issue).
- Comparing the medical office to the DMV (I wouldn??t expect a driver??s license for free, would I? To this I responded ??No, but they publish their fees beforehand" and it??s a moot point as they are a MEDICAL facility).
- Telling me when I was last seen (my medical history has nothing to do with the issue at hand, especially since it was last year for my last annual exam).
- Letting me know I could??ve easily asked the staff to copy my records for me for free. I let him know that this option was not presented to me and the ONLY option presented to me was the one I used.

His responses made no sense. I asked him what they had to do with the communication in his office. Then he responded, ??Well, how do you suggest we tell each and every patient about the fee?? I told him that wasn??t my job, but perhaps put a line on the form ??You may be charged for this service.? I also said it could be put in the outgoing message, right after it indicates that the copying would be done by an outside service. Communication doesn't have to be complex, it just needs to exist.

Honestly, in all my years and in caring for my ailing mother who had 15 different doctors, I??ve never had to pay for records to be transferred so it had never occurred to me that it would be an issue. That said, if there WAS a fee associated with the request, I think it is only fair that I be told about it beforehand. Anything else is unprofessional.

The conversation ended with him saying (obviously after being trained in customer service), ??What do you want ME to do?? There was no response I could give to that because it was obvious he wanted to be right in a conversation so I told him it was obvious where the communication issues started and his staff was following suit. I then hung up because when someone wants to argue, anything you say will not change the fact that they will want to argue. Honestly, the man made no sense and I can truly see how the rest of the staff would take his cues from him.

I??m sure if I was infertile, trying to become pregnant or was pregnant, this practice would be great to deal with these complex issues, but I??d avoid this practice if all you care about is your own health and want just a good OBGYN.

I can't tell you enough how great the docs and staff are at Triangle OBGYN. I was a problematic patient with lots of issues physically. It was important I find the best care. I'm totally satisfied with Triangle OBGYN and would recommend it to anyone looking for an OBGYN in this area.

I highly recommend Triangle OBGYN for a number of reasons. First, their doctors are all awesome. They answered all my questions, no matter how crazy and off the wall. They took their time with me and showed real compassion.
Second, they have midwives!!! This is such a bonus because their midwives are the only ones in the area who can deliver at Wake Med Cary. These women are the best and I can't wait for them to deliver our next child.

I just moved to the Triangle a few years ago and asked neighbors and friends who to go to for an OBGYN. I got several recommendations and decided to try Triangle OBGYN. For my annual exams and during my second pregnancy, the staff and doctors were just terrific!! Their professionalism, wait time and compassion rank among the top for doctors I've seen in the past. I'll be a patient there for life.

I cannot comment directly on Dr V. as I only saw him once an will never go back. However, I can without a doubt state that the office staff is completely lacking in professionalism. I had to wait over an hour to be seen (after arriving 15 minutes early for my appointment). The last 30 minutes was under the drape. Apparently whoever made my appointment (3 weeks in advance) did not put it on the Dr's schedule so he didn't even know I was there. This might have been an excusable mistake, but I was absolutely horrified to get a form letter, 3 months after a colposcopy stating that my (pap) results were abnormal, they had tried to contact me by phone several times, and to call them as soon as possible to discuss the results. Apparently they don't have a form letter for abnormal biopsy results and it takes 3 months for them to get back to me about it. My cell phone never received a call from them. I know they had my correct phone number because I did receive a call reminding me of my initial appointment. I would never recommend this practice to anyone. I get more compassion from my dentist.

My experience is not unique, check out the reviews of North Carolina Center for Reproductive Medicine on this site - same place.
