This is, by far, the worst facility I have ever worked in and it makes me feel sick to think that I made my child attend this horrible place. I was not fired, I left on my own terms after a teacher left bruises on my child's back. So there is no reason this would be a revenge letter. The facility didn't seem too concerned about my child because he was a "staff child". That should never matter! Every child should be given proper treatment no matter who the parent is, especially when the two-year-old is terrified of his teacher. The morning teacher in his class was great, (an accent was the only problem I ever had with her as it led to a small miscommunication once) just the afternoon teacher was horrible. The rest of the staff from older two's and up are the absolute world's worst from screaming and yelling to threatening them with a wooden spoon and 'taking them to the bathroom'. PLEASE heade this warning!!! DO NOT LET YOUR CHILD ATTEND THIS FACILITY!!! THEY WILL BE MISERABLE AND MISTREATED!!!

My son goes to Bearfoot in Sachse and I am not convinced that he is receiving the best care, particularly for the VERY expensive rates that they charge. In front of you they are all over the kids and very sweet, out of sight they are rough handling them and just seem to leave them to their own devices - fighting, biting, scratching, hitting etc. How do I know? Well I watched for a 5-10 minute period stood back from the window so that the kids or the TEENAGERS looking after them could not see me.

One fundamental flaw is the over-crowding, there are too many kids in each room! If Bearfoot really wants to shine as a daycare then they need to have LESS than the law permits per teacher, then perhaps the high fees would be worth the money if the kids were to get more attention from the 'adults' (usually teenagers, the older adults seem to do very little).
I have ZERO confidence in the manager's ability to be able to Police his/her staff to give the children the care that they need. The big smiles and bubbly personalities that you see and hear when you're looking to put your childs name on the list are not the same smiling faces you'll see the first day that you drop your child off, on the contrary.......one of the girls on the desk is an absolute misery - I think she's actually glued to one of the chairs.....she may even be a manakin!

If the manager has an ounce of quality control in the building, SOMEONE should be reading these reviews and using the info to help create a better environment for our most prescious possession....our kids.
This place is not what you think it is going to be. If you have a toddler you will hear from them by phone at least once a week telling you that your child bumped his head or was bitten 5 times, frankly.....if the care was any good you'd hardly ever get these calls - right?!
Give due dilligence if you decide to put your child into this daycare, watch, listen and react to the manager because he/she is ultimately responsible.

NOT GOOD AT ALL !!
Have been in there and the way the "teachers" (because the ones with the kids from 1 to 5 year old ARE NOT) treat your kids is just insane !
the way they talk to kids is like talking to an army training group, rude, loud, and overly stern. they don't care if your kids are eating boogers or if their hair is in their mouth when eating. The "teachers" let them go to the bathroom by themselves. And to put the kids to sleep oh my GOD, they order them to lay on their bellies and close their eyes with their hands and tell them close your eyes NOW!!! and start patting them on their backs so hard that it sound like they are hitting a drum. OUT in the playground ,they let them fight over toys with very little concerne, and the most disgusting thing is the way they talk to them. I live a block away and can hear the demeaning screams of the "teachers". They never clean their faces,it's just sad for little kids from 2 to 5 Y/0 . I don't know about the older kids ,but the little ones , they sure are being mistreated. ask your kids, visit the place, that is not the way I want my kids to be treated . do you ??
DON'T TAKE YOUR KIDS THERE OR GO AND VISIT FOR AT LEASTONE DAY AND SEE FOR YOUR SELF WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT.

Pros: NONE

Cons: IMPROPER TREATMENT OF CHILDREN

I happen to hear what goes on inside Bearfoot in Wylie. My child works there and things I hear are unbelievable. The teenagers that work there do the best they can, however the Adults that run it are lazy and rely on the teenagers to handle everything. For example this week alone, there were 3 teenagers (teachers) to 72 children with the front staff sitting on their butts not doing anything. My child loves the kids and is very frustated with the adult staff that apparently doesn't care for the well being of the children as my child does. I can't say names or my child will get fired. Maybe this will get the new owners to maybe comply with the laws or shut this place down until they do. I agree with the others.....look deeper!

Apparentyly the person that posted this has the facts incorrect. I am a parent of one of the children that excaped. The children did not cross Parker and were not found at Dobb Elementary School. You need to know the facts before you start spatting off at the mounth.

My children still attend Bearfoot Lodge in Wylie and I love this daycare.

I took my children to Bearfoot Lodge because it looked nicest, cleanest and more structured than any I have seen in Sachse.

Don't be deceived.

This place is ridiculously over-crowded, the staff members aren't even happy to be working there, and are not ashamed to be vocal about it. Picking up your children from the gym is like going to McDonalds play area packed full of undisciplined kids and screaming, and staff not really seeming to care.

They are over-priced, and do NOT include meals for school-aged children. Pack a lunch mom and dad...they make food for the preschoolers....your kid will need to eat a sack lunch.

Look around some more before allowing your kids to be crammed in this assembly-line daycare.

My question is?why would ?Buddy03? lie about this situation? What would he/she have to gain? It seems to me that the only people who would gain from lying would be Bearfoot Lodge. Something to ponder.

i've just read the review that "buddy03" wrote and I am amazed at his/her ability to LIE (a friend of mine gave me a copy of buddy03's review). The incident did happen and it's unfortunate, nevertheless not as discribed by "buddy03". I was there, I saw what happened, the front office staff saw them and ran after the children. Did they run out yes, but they only made to the front of the school. Buddy03 writes that the children cross the street all the way to Dodd Elementary that "IS A BOLD FACE LIE", My grandchildren attend Bearfoot and I have complete trust in everyone. Are they perfect, no one is; however they sure try to be the best in the city and in my opinion are the best by far.

On Friday Oct. 5, 2007 three 2 year olds who attended Bearfoot Lodge in Wylie were able to walk out of the building with out anyone seeing them.

The toddlers crossed Park street and were found by Dodd Elementary.

Thank goodness God was looking out for them and they were unharmed.

How was this able to happen?!!!

Bearfoot Sachse has provided an excellent service to me and my children. They are a consistantly clean facility with a young and energetic staff. They stimulate the children's minds and bodies by offering a plethera of activities and learning opportunities. The facility is safe with admittance only by an assigned code. The classrooms educate the students by rotating the children to various classrooms. Each room offers a new lesson. They have a climbing gym for rewarding good behavior. They offer swimmming lessons during the summer months. There are various playgrounds that are isolated to different age groups. Ms. Gloria teaches Spanish to the students. She also has wonderful classroom management skills. Her mother is the cook and provides healthy menus. When there are discipline issues or an injury the parents are called immediately.

Discipline is important and they emphasize the need for parent involvement and student responsibility. My youngest child has a classmate with special needs. He is hyperactive and sometimes aggressive with my daughter and the other classmates. His parents are working with the Wylie school district and thier doctor to get a diagnosis and then help. All of these events would not have taken place if the Bearfoot leadership team had not dilivered the unpleasant news to the parents that his behaviors are out of the norm. In order for this child to remain at the school, the parents were told to get him help so not to hurt the other children. Bearfoot is very proactive when they see a child that may need a diagnosis. I recommend this private school. If you can't tell, I am a teacher and am accutely aware that all children can learn if given the proper foundation.

This is a wonderful place for anyone to be able to drop off their children and not have to worry. The facility is secure and safe, and the staff is excellent. They go above and beyond for your children. I have 2 children there and they have been there for going on 3 years. My girls love going to "school" everyday and look forward to being with their teachers and friends. Myself as a parent and a worry wart that I am, I do not worry about them when I drop them off for the day.

I have found this school to always handle matters in the best interest of kids and families, I once asked a state license rep. what they look for in a school and they stated a facility that provides all pertinant good and bad reports to parents and regulators.

Bearfoot Lodge is the only facility I have ever found that will operate on these required principles.

We love and appreciate all the efforts from the Bearfoot staff to provide an "incredible" commitment to quality for our community and children.

I will have to say in regards to the review written on 9/21 that I not only teach at that school but my son goes there and I have NEVER had better care! We, as teachers, are right on top of all accidents and try in everyway to make sure they are taken care of and parents notified if the situation needs. Accidents happen and not to say that kids are bad, but sometimes it's not the facility when your child is getting accident reports. Stop and think what your child might be doing and if they are listening to the teachers. We teach out of curriculum and even rotate the children to learn all differant subjects including: spanish, math, art and science when they are young 3's on up. I would HIGHLY recommend this daycare to EVERYONE I know! My son has never been so happy with his teachers. I believe he probably wants to spend more time there then with his own mom and dad. That has to say something about the daycare! Renee Hogan is an AWESOME director and no-one could say otherwise! Keep doing what your doing Bearfoot Lodge! I appreciate it!

I saw the bad review from the 9/21/06 posting and had to take a minute to say that I CAN"T DISAGREE MORE. Bearfoot Lodge and Whistle Stop has helped me raise 3 happy, healthy kids. Bearfoot staff has exceeded my expectations time and time again. They are wonderful!!!! They allow me to go to work every day and not have any concerns about my children. I have a 14 year old that has "graduated" from daycare and he still gets excited to see these people. My 10 year old daughter wants me to pick her up before I pick up my 3 year old just so she can run in and hug the teachers (she only goes summer and when school is on breaks). THAT TELLS ME SO MUCH MORE THAN ANY unhappy PARENT REMARK ABOVE. I am sorry I take it so personal when I saw that review, but it is because of these wonderful people (Renee included) that I am able to make a living for my family and not feel the guilt that I am not at home with them. I am thankful that I know they truly care about my child. I love to pick up my child and he have paint on him or snack on his face. It tells me that he had a great day and got to play with shaving cream or paint or had a yummy snack. I am thankful that he had such a fun day. I agree that teachers leave and new ones come in from time to time. Most are there until they get a teaching certificate or the management feels they are not right for your childs room. I am okay for that either way and thankful that they care enough to make sure my child has great teachers. I lost a teacher that I loved and I hated it, but I was so proud that she was able to finish her teaching certificate and move up. It isn't always a bad thing to lose a teacher. I am thankful for the owners. management and teaching staff at Bearfoot Lodge Private School!!

My kids have been here for almost 3 years and love going to daycare. They love their teachers and have made many good friends. I have had at least one child in every class in the daycare and I have been pleased throughout. They also have a good curriculum and my kids are ahead of many of their peers. They offer several extracurricular activities, dance, gymnastics, karate, computer classes and swim lessons in the summer. They have been a great fit for our family and we look forward to staying there for a long time to come.

Message from Bearfoot Lodge Private School, Sachse

Bearfoot Lodge was created for the kid in all of us. As adults, we recall spending many exciting weeks at summer camp. Though we may have faced them with some hesitation at first, in the end they gave us some of the best experiences of our lives. At Bearfoot Lodge, we have tried to capture that time, where everyday is like a magical day of summer camp. Our foyer is a fun place that is easily accessible to school visitors, students, and parents, and keeps unnecessary traffic away from learning centers. We have three separately fenced outdoor play areas for toddlers, preschoolers, and school age children. We have a fenced pool for swim lessons and summer fun.
