As a yankee still learning to appreciate the Southern Culture, I was very impressed by the museum. I loved Gone with the Wind as a little girl and actually, southern literature and movies are what prodded me to move south as a college student. I had always wanted to stop in to Scarlet on the Square and it took me about five years to do so. I don't know what I was waiting for..I had a great time. There was so much about the movie that I didn't know and it was interesting to read about the reactions of the Atlanta residences when the movie premeired. It defititely offered a perspective I had not thought of before.

I loved "Gone WIth the Wind," the movie and the book. So when I ventured into the Gone With the Wind museum, also known as "Scarlett on the Square," I expected to be interested, but the small size of the building did not lead me to expect too much. The experience was much more than I anticipated. This is a very extensive and comprehensive collection, with personal correspondence of Margaret Mitchell's on display along with copies of the book from many countries, movie posters, dolls, costumes, and every imaginable type of memorabilia. It's a real trip into American pop culture, and a must for anyone interested in this major Southern contribution to film and literature.

PROS: Great mix of collectibles and memorabilia, a very reasonable ticket price
CONS: Somewhat crowded display
