Went last night with a large group to celebrate a colleagues retirement. Firstly we had parking problems, staff told us to park in a certain place, when we did we were told we had to valet. So we parked our own car in the valet spot. awesome :(. We had been told we would get the set menu at a reduced price since we were bringing about 30+ people, but when we ordered and later paid we that was nowhere to be seen. The food was very poor, they talked everything up but it really disappointed. Each table had to share a plate of food, the "Moroccan bread" was basically stale American bread, we got the equivalent of a shot of soup, we shared a plate of basic salad, the other appetizer was gross, the main meal, I got the Lamb shank which was super fatty. Let me say I do enjoy different types of food and like Mediterranean cuisine, but this food seemed cheap and was not enjoyable. The staff were ok but constantly asked us about buying more expensive drinks or upgrading from the set menu to the "special" which was $20 more. The set menu came with a basic dessert but you could add a different dessert for extra. The waitress was not clear about the different dessert being extra and so basically suckered everyone into purchasing an extra dessert when they were already getting a free one. The real nightmare came at the end when they brought ONE BILL for about 30+ people for over $2000. The organizers of the night were partly to blame but surely the staff could have asked how we wanted the bill split. One of our party had to write down everyone's order on a piece of paper, we then had to CUE up and pay individually which took ages. It was an embarrassing end to a difficult night. Overall i was there from 6pm to almost 11pm and spent about $130 on a meal for my wife and I. The belly dancers were very skilled, the only good thing about the place. The food was just SO cheap and disappointing it seemed the place was all about getting you to spend as much money as possible while having you believe you were having some kind of "cultural" experience. I could go on and on about witnessing wait staffs constant bickering etc etc but basically just avoid this place.

The atmosphere and entertainment are what makes this place fun. The food was good, not great and it gets pricey.Once you have been, it is off the list, unless you need a place to go with a very large group, then I would return, but at this point, did it.

My family and I went to Imperial Fez for dinner thinking it was going to be a fun night for all of us but on the contrary it turned out to be awful; a huge disappointment!!!
1st of all, my husband and I both ordered the menu.
My lamb couscous came out with two tiny pieces of lamb! If I would have wanted a veggie couscous, I would have ordered a veggie couscous!
2nd of all, they had a special going on that night with half price pitchers of mojito mentioned on the menu on the table as well as at the front door. Well come to find out they were not doing the special anymore since last week!!!! So why are you still promoting it?????????
On top of that, they had another deal going stating that if you order 2 menus, you get a free hookah at the end of your meal! Well of course, that special was no longer offered even though advertised in front of our eyes!!!!!
What a rip off this place is! I will never step foot into Imperial Fez ever again!!!!

      Cons: false advertisement

I went to Imperial Fez last Saturday with a friend to try this restaurant for the first time. Although the belly dancers were good, there is not much else that was good. The courses were so bland and everything was served at room temperature. The worst part of the experience was the waitress - perhaps she should work in a morgue if she truly dislikes being around people.

We would have at least liked eating this mediocre food at the same time but my friend's main course came first and mine came ten minutes later. At the next table, the family was upset because everyone at their table had finished eating, but the waitress kept forgetting the wife's meal. Here is a hint Imperial Fez: People sitting at the same table generally LIKE eating their meals at the same time.

Overall, never again. Please do not waste your money or your time (2.5 hours). The only reason I tried it is I had a certificate - skip the Groupon offers on this place. I would have rather went to Taco Bell. Seriously.

I was at the Imperial fez on May 22nd, 2010 and nothing could have prepared us for what was ahead. We walked thought the door and a young gentleman greeted us he was to my surprise friendly and welcomed us with a warm smile, we felt as if we had just come into our own home. After we took off our shoes a woman set us at our table it was rather busy, however we were greeted by very friendly young lady he name was ?Latria? I think. However she was very considerate as we become aware she had other tables as well nevertheless there wasn?t a moment the she did come to ask us how we were doing and if we need anything to make our evening more comfortable and pleasant we were so thrilled for we had never be to an Genuine Moroccan Restaurant before and we had heard so much about the Imperial Fez we on the edge of are seat when the dancers came out they we enchanting and the rhythmic music made us want to dance but we were both to coy to partake it the dancing activities. As for the meal we thought the food was figment of our imagination because nothing in the world could be as aromatic and mouth-watering as that five course meal but it wasn?t a figment of our imagination everything for the soup to the dessert was out of this world down to the very last crumb. Now we would like to thank everyone we motion especially "L atria" how work as hard as she could to make our night magical and unforgettable.

I have been to the Fez several times and have taken a lot of friends there. Every visit to this restaurant has been a pleasant experience; all you need to do is keep an open mind. Remember that you are going to have a Moroccan experience; eating Moroccan food in a Moroccan setting. In most other cultures outside ours in the US, the server will only come to your table to bring the menu, take your order, bring out the courses and then bring out the check. If you want the standard American service with the server coming over to you every couple of minutes to ask you how you're doing or how you are liking your food, then please do yourself a favor and go to Applebees or something more mundane.

If you do decide to try something different and pleasing to the palate, go for the delicious cornish hen appetizer and beef sheesh kebabs at the Imeprial Fez.

Oh, and the whole idea of this place is a leisurely experience; so make sure you have a full evening (at least 3-4 hours) to enjoy all that the Fez has to offer. If you're in a hurry and want the courses and the check to be brought out in quick succession and the server hovering over your head, as some other reviewers seem to need, then don't go to the Fez.

Chef Rafih provides exotic surroundings with complex flavors, tender meats, delicious ideas, and gorgeous belly dancers. The Imperial Fez is a place for the celebration of life, offering an escape from the normal Atlanta restaurant scene. Take a couple hours out of your day to pull up a pillow (and maybe a hookah), watch a belly dancer play with fire, and enjoy a great meal you won't soon forget.

The only drawback is that the waitstaff has a habit of vanishing for long periods of time, not refilling your drinks for 2 hours, and then upon leaving having the nerve to run up to you and say, "The tip was not included!" when your meal has been comped...

Located in Buckhead on Peachtree Street near Piedmont Hospital in a shopping center, Imperial Fez is one of those once-happening, concept type restaurants that began popping up around Atlanta during the 70s. The Moroccan food is good, and delivered in courses but the real draw of the restaurant are the kitschy-quasi-traditional customary practices such as hand washing, shoe removal, and sitting on the floor. Belly dancers entice diners who must realize ahead of time that table conversation can be somewhat limited based on all the pomp, though the whole experience can be fun for a large group. It is definitely something every Atlantan should experience at least once so make your way over and enjoy the whole experience.

I went to Imperial Fez last night. The evening started off good and our waiter was attentive, at first. One belly dancer came out and danced for like 15 minutes in one area of the room. You literally had to get out of your seat to see her. The food came out warm, instead of hot, and the recommended drinks left something to be desired. Once we were served we never saw the waiter again! The custom is to wash your hands at the table, before and after your meal. We washed our hands prior to eating, but afterward, no sign of the guy. He didn't even bring us our check. We got that from the waiter working the table next to ours. I felt very slighted. After this experience and paying the hefty price for such shabby service, I definitely will not be back.

I went here for a friend's birthday and was disappointed. Although the food was pretty good and the experience was unique the service was awful. It was difficult to get refills on water (if any at all), we had an array of waitstaff, waitress was slow and could not answer questions about the dishes, and when it came time to pay the bill we had to wait over a half hour to get the attention of the waitstaff. For these prices and the previous reviews I expected ALOT more. I would never go back to this tacky establishment and I would never recommend it to anyone else.

      Pros: Unique

      Cons: Terrible service

      .

The waitress took the time to explain everything about the Moroccan dining style.
I ordered a sauteed shrimp, my girlfriend ordered a lamb cutlet, they were both wonderful.
      The fire dance is amazing.
We had a great time during dinner. We will definitely come back.

Me and my Girl went to the Fez 11/14/09 It was a our 5 year anniversary of being together we had been to the sister restaurant on the 7th and the manager told us about the fez and I planned our dinner there. Everything was wonderful right down to the very last crumb/ drop the Ambiance set the mood for a romantic evening and the service was perfect they made us relax, it felt like we were having a candlelit dinner in Morocco it was if we fell in love all over again. The Entertainer was beautiful belly dancer who danced like a majestic butterfly it was wonderful. My girlfriend doesn't know but I'm gonna ask her to Marry me at the fez and if all goes the way I know it will I'm gonna just rent out the fez and get married there it's our perfect Moroccan wedding right at home in Atlanta.

My wife and I went to Imperial Fez for our anniversary on 9/4/09. Our first annoyance is the fact that there is no self parking - valet only. Granted the valet is "complimentary", but what good is that if no one comes out when you pull up in front of the restaurant? We had reservations, so it's not like they didn't know we were coming. So, once we get in, we are asked to remove our shoes. No problem, but it would be nice if someone would have mentioned that when we made our reservations.

The place is unusually dark, which made reading the menu a problem. I found it funny that the "special" menu was $65/person, as if the regular menu price of $45/person wasn't enough for the "five course" meal. First course was a small cup of lentil soup. Not bad, but nothing special. Second course - one plate of various "salads" that we shared. None were very good, but it was odd to me that we had to share our salad, and that we had to ask several times for forks. I also found it amusing that it was too dark for the waitress to tell one salad from the next as she tried to explain what each salad was made of. The third course was one baked Cornish hen dish, almost pastry like, with powdered sugar and cinnamon on top. Again, we're paying $45/person to share our third course? Fourth course was lamb with apricots for me and cous-cous with lamb for my wife. My lamb was good, but very sweet. Her cous-cous was OK, but didn't come with enough lamb for her tastes. The firth course, dessert, was a large slice of watermelon, a small slice of cantaloupe, and 2 small baked pastries. Desert was horrible, and definitely not what I would have expected. I don't care for cantaloupe, the watermelon wasn't sweet, and the pastries weren't particularly good.

The only choice you get on the menu is what you want to eat for the fourth course. The service was ok, but nothing special, and not worth the automatic 15% in my mind. The belly dancing was ok, but definitely seemed to slow the service. And the music was absurdly loud when the belly dancer came out. The dancer had a flaming sword once, and that was a very impressive dance.

All in all, I think the place is incredibly overpriced for the mediocre food and service. We were there for over 2 hours with all the courses and dancing.

This is an unique restaurant where you not only have a special dinning experience with a great food but you also get to watch a beautiful belly dancing show.
The fire dance is fantastic!! The food is great. We had a great time, and I'm definitely coming back again with some more friends.

One of my hobbies for the past thirty-something years has been to learn about and experience foods from different parts of the world so I have eaten at many ethnic eateries during that time. I am well acquainted with a number of different cuisines including Lebanese, Persian, Hebrew (Kosher), Greek, Southern Indian, Pakistani, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Chinese (Mongolian, Szechwan and Cantonese), Spanish, Italian, French, German, Mexican, Tex-Mex, Lowcountry Southern, Cajun, etc. However, I would have to say that the five course meal I ate at Imperial Fez was absolutely the BEST food I have ever eaten in my life!

The staff was very friendly and accomodating and made me feel more like I was an honored guest being entertained in their home rather than a patron at a commercial establishment. The carpets, tapestries and pillows gave the room a plush, comfortable, relaxed feeling and after settling in for a few minutes, it was hard to believe I was actually in Atlanta. I felt like I was dining in a Sultan's tent in some exotic, faraway desert. By the end of the evening, I fully expected to see camels instead of cars when I stepped outside.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I heard that there would be belly dancing; however, The belly dancers were attractive and charming and delivered a tasteful, entertaining performance. The dancing was definitely sensual and beautiful, but there was nothing lewd or overly suggestive about it.

The Imperial Fez is not the place to go for a quick bite to eat! I had planned to go out clubbing afterward, but I ended up having such a great time that I didn't want to leave! I ended up spending four hours of total bliss at the Fez that night and enjoyed it much more than I would have if I had stuck to my original agenda for the evening. I was sorry when it was time to go; however, I will definitely return for an encore!

I'M still an employee of the imperial fez!!!
And it's with great pride that I'm sharing my experiences at the Imperial fez with you.
For most of you, it's about dinning for special occasions, change, discovering something new, impressing someone or even just celebrating life.
But what you don't know is: What is imperial fez anyway? The question seems simple. But the truth is, it?s just not that easy to answer.I can tell you that since we opened our doors in Atlanta, Georgia in 1991. Fez?s Delicatessen has become one of the city's leading restaurant in it's own right. With an emphasis on education, flavor, tradition and integrity of ingredients, we?ve worked to create a living, breathing, active culinary laboratory where one can experience everything from lamb couscous, to hand-picked preserved lemons, to hand made bread and pretty much everything in between. And in the process we?ve gained a reputation for sourcing unique, full flavored, traditionally made foodstuffs prepared from the heart of it's founders.
Who are serving your food at the Imperial Fez?
In most restaurants, you are being serve by young adults who are seeking ways to make fast money to get on with their lives. But at IMPERIAL FEZ, our guests are taken on an exotic journey, you are invited to dine as you would be by family, friends or neighbors. The hosts are educated individuals who speak several different languages for the most part and who take their guests well-being whole heartedly.
Most hosts at the Imperial Fez are corporate employees or college students, yet they still take great pride in their work. Mainly because it's not about the money or the title, but about working in loving and caring environment...just like home! It's about being part of something unique and bigger than the ordinary. IT'S about working with the coolest little company in America!!!
I CAN GO ON FOR DAYS AND YEARS, but I'm sure you don't have that kind of time. So come see us and see for yourself.

I have been to the Imperial Fez on numerous occassions over the past years, and have never been disappointed by the food and atmosphere. I do not know many restaurants where the chef & owner makes a real effort to meet as many guests personally as possible. But at the Imperial Fez both Rita & Rafih (owners) are extremely accessible and always eager to make everyone's dining experience a special occassion.
If you love an eating-adventure then this is your restaurant! The layering of exotic spices and aromas, as well as the fun presentation of the food, really make this a unique eating venue.
When I want to impress family members & friends, as well as colleagues when they come to visit Atlanta I always bring them to the Fez.
I have tried most of the dishes on the menue, but have to say that the Moroccan Lentil Soup, the Moroccan salads, and the B'stella appetizer (w/ Cornish Hen, almonds, honey all wrapped in a flakey crust) are my favorite! Top that off w/ the delicious Moroccan Mint Tea and I'm in heaven!

Me and my girlfriend went as a first time visit. The atmosphere was different but nothing spectacular, the furniture and interior of the building looked cheap and the rugs and pillows looked like they were dusty and needed to be cleaned.

We were seated by our waitress who made a few comments to us that were completely unprofessional and rude. She then took 15 minutes before taking our orders for food. My girlfriend asked for silverware to eat one of the dishes and the waitress lied and said that they didn't have any. She really just didn't want to bring any out because she did concede that they do bring out silverware for the desert and my girlfriend had to ask instantly again for her to bring out silverware for this particular dish. It seemed more like we had someone who wanted to contend with us and be difficult rather than wait on us. She had an attitude and didn't smile the whole time. I expected better.

The food itself was just so so, again nothing special that would leave an impression or make me want to go back. The entertainment was a belly dancer who came out twice and who looked more like a tattooed stripper.

I wanted to reflect the poor service to our waitress with the tip I was going to give her but the tips are automatically factored into the bill (no wonder they don't' have servers with motivation or incentive to serve well) so I didn't get a chance to. The bill came out to $110 for 2 people, I found out on the way home that the waitress overcharged my credit card by $18 which I had to call the next day to complain about. When I called to complain I told the manager about the waitress and the poor service we received and he insisted he would get to the bottom of it and call me back. Its been over a week and I still haven't received a call back from him.

Based on what I paid for and was expecting I was let down and cannot recommend this place to any of my friends.

I came to the Imperial Fez Friday night for my birthday. I tell this place blew me away; it was like I walked into a whole new world. I found the price very reasonable starting at $25 and up for a five course meal. The service was like clockwork everything from the soup to the dessert was timed perfectly. The food was superb and totally worth it. The best part was the belly dancer she was stunning and demonstrated a few moves belly dancing for me that was cool most dancers don't do that. I also was told they have belly dancing lessons on Saturday mornings how cool is that. I was even visited by the owner she asked us how were doing and even talked to us about her home county (Morocco) it sounded so gorgeous and remarkable. I now want to go there sometime and have the full Moroccan cultural experience. After dinner I went to the shop were they have the most beautiful stuff form coin belt hip scarf?s, jewelry form morocco, to tradition clothing that I was impress with the young gentlemen that welcomed us to the shop and offer his assistance if needed, I wanted to buy almost everything in that cute little shop, however, I just bought an outfit, shoes, and some jewelry that were sold at very reasonable prices as well. I now just want to Thank the staff and the owners at the impearl fez for giving me the best birthday ever. I will come back with some more of my family and friends very soon so they can experience too.
      Thanks again,

I learned about this place when I accidently parked here when going to Sunny's. It was expensive cuisine in a really nice environment. The lamb is amazing and succulent. I have since become a fan of Ibiza next door since it is more affordable and features some highlights from Imperial Fez at a better price.

When I entered the restaurant, I noticed the cultural feel. Once my shoes were off, we were escorted to the table. The seating is quite low so I had to adjust because I am tall 5'11". We were given menus and we asked questions about what was recommended. It was our first visit. I enjoyed washing my hands with the water they provided. Then we were told to put our towel on our left shoulder. No detail was left out. I will warn you - if you like hot sauce - the kind that bites and lingers you will love theirs. I tasted it to see what it tasted like.....whew........I had to leave it alone. It bit me for awhile. We tried the lamb shank and royal couscous. We were told not fill up on the bread, but from the 1st course to the last it was good. I noticed that not a lot of salt was in the dishes. Having said that I noticed that the different seasonings made the dishes tasty. The lamb shank was very tender. You could pull it with a fork and eat it. The belly dancing was fun....I was amazed to see someone dance with fire and the different sensual twists and turns. What I really liked was when she pulled me and another young lady up to try it. I had a blast! I was honored that my boyfriend chose Imperial Fez. It was my 40th birthday and I really had a good time. It is nice to experience other cultures.

If you ever in Atlanta, I highly suggest you make it to Imperial Fez. It is a tad pricey, but that is to be expected for superb service and food. Everything was perfect. I was here on a business meeting, and it was the perfect place to change up the mundane meeting settings. The food was heavenly. The chef is absolutely fearless when it comes to taking risks. The decor was entertaining and nothing like I or my coworkers had ever seen before.

The initial service was lovely until our waiter showed up. I'm 96% positive he was rude because my husband was Indian and he was most likely from Pakistan. (The waiter first asked him if he was Pakistani and my husband said Indian). I have never seen a waiter rush my husband to order. He even tried grabbing the menu from him before he decided on a drink. I am not exaggerating. He later straightened up a bit throughout the night. We were not rude......won't ever be. We both noticed 3 other waiters and waitresses and they seemed to give excellent service.
The food was good, but definitely over-priced. Both of our meals were $65. I realize it was paying for the whole atmosphere and belly dancing show, but was still outrageous. One thing I noticed was that a large group was getting ripped-off on the amount of food compared to a couple. For example, the 2nd course salads were brought out on one plate for everyone to share. The group of 5, next to us, had to share the same amount we had off one plate. The same went for the appetizer and dessert course. What an even bigger rip off for them.
The belly dancing show was awesome. We managed to see all 5 of Amani's performances through the night. I was expecting more than one belly dancer, but she was the only one and it was a Saturday--I expected more than one dancer because I saw the photos on the website. Amani seemed to be a very sweet lady, not that that really matters... She was not too bad and my husband and I enjoyed the shows. I say not too bad because I've seen belly dancing and it seemed to be a lot more 'dancing freely' than actual belly dancing.
We parked across the street to save from paying tips for valet service. I recommend that because you're already going to be paying a boat load for your dinner. The two of us, with one drink and one juice, totaled $177.00 (they included the tip). Luckily, I had a $20 off coupon from my entertainment book....didn't seem like much but it helped.

      Pros: Atmosphere, Belly Dancer

Cons: Over-Priced, Average to Good Food

      .

Really we were intrigued by the Moroccan idea and an international flavor. We also wanted to entertain some out of town guests. Let me tell you that this place is a total waste! We paid over $400 for a party of 5 and we were all dissapointed. The food was bland, they tried to serve us wayy too much and the water was straight out of the tap. We eventually left early because of the poor taste of the food and obnoxious staff. In this economy, one would have to be fooled to dine in this place. We were Fooled!

      Pros: Buckhead

This restaurant has been around forever and is alot of fun to take guests to the city. That being said I was there last night with friends from out of town. We had a great time, the food is good and the entertainment is fun. There were only about 12 people in the entire restaurant and I'm thinking that unless they make some changes fast, this place could be on the endangered species list. The food is good, tasteful, aromatic herbs and spices, unusual - but not worth the price tag. The five of us left with a tab of almost $500 and only two of us had a single cocktail, several just had water. My drink was the house special tropical mixture of some sort, served in a 4 oz. glass with just a hint of alcohol and a price tag of $10. I noticed on the menu they are having a "Ladies Night" for $35 on Wed. This is really much more along the lines of what this meal should cost. Cut out a course or two and lower the price, free pour the drinks a tad and the place might survive. For the price tag on the evening we could have gone to a five-star restaurant. Over the years I've been there many times, but sadly, I'd have to say the "sticker shock" of last night's meal might make that my last visit there. I might go for the Specials, but never again will go full price. My guests wll have to venture there alone. For that price I want steak and lobster and a $50 bottle of good wine. My guess would be that this restaurant was in it's hay day during the time of big business expense accounts, but I'll bet they're feeling the pinch of the decline of that scenario. You might want to check it out just so you can say you did someday.

Pros: Entertaining, different, parking is easy, large portions, tasteful food

Cons: Obscenely expensive, drinks weak and in tiny glass with big price tag

This is a great place! I enjoyed everything. The service, the food and the atmosphere. I wanted to get up and belly dance! This is a good date night adventure. Go out of country without leaving Atlanta.

Imperial Fez is the best! I felt like I was in Morocco or overseas when I dined here. The food is so good you eat until you are about to burst! The staff is wonderful and make you feel at ease for this new way of dining.

We've been to the restaurant several times on the past few years, and it still one of the best options in town for a fun dinner night.
The bellydancing show with fire, sword and dance it's a show apart. It's of those events that you will always remember and will want to repeat.
We love the moroccan food, the flavor and spices, we recommend the lamb cutlet and kabobs.
