In Short
Carpets and thick fabrics blanket the interior of the restaurant in hues and designs reminiscent of a sultry den from the 1970s. Waiters dressed in Moroccan garb sidestep the crowd-pleasing belly dancers to deliver two- to five-course dinners to shoeless groups relaxing on low couches or pillows. Amid the hubbub, service gaffes--such as entree mix-ups and vanishing waitstaff--are not uncommon. Order any entree with lamb or a shish kebab for the most tender meat on the menu, and then relax as the prix-fixe courses arrive. At first, dipping your fingers into the tangy shlada--a heaping plate of traditional salads--seems wrong, but soon you'll be reaching with confidence for the bath towel draped over your shoulder. The b'stella, reminiscent of a Cornish hen potpie, arrives piping hot, with a satisfyingly crusty outer layer. Hot mint tea and a rosewater hand bath complete the evening.

Key Points

  • Nightly Belly Dancers
  • Private Dining Rooms
  • Catering Available

The Inside Scoop

  1. The Extras - Take your experience home with a stop at Ameerah Imports, located in the restaurant. Haggle and get the best deal on trinkets and clothing.
  2. Know Before You Go - Imperial Fez caters to large groups. Round up some close friends, or bring your coworkers.
  3. Look Good - Wear your best socks, as shoes stay in the entryway. Avoid tight skirts--most seating is on low couches or on pillows on the floor.
  4. When to Go - The experience is at its best when the restaurant is full, so reserve a spot on the busy Friday or Saturday nights.

we have been in morrocco numerous times and there is no class at this restaurant like morrocco showed us. Very disapointing. The bellydancers danced way to much we were sick to death of the loud music. Dancing nice but to much. Service horrible no one smiled. They seemed very unhappy. Good idea, but seemed more like i was at a nightmare disney world. There was a dancer that came out and did dance for a man in the center of the room that did a wired african dance. Did not understand why we paid so much.

Ratings_icons THE OUTSTANDING IMPERIAL FEZ

ebebe2003

I went to the Imperial Fez Last Saturday for my husbands birthday, we were 18 of us the place was packed, the hostess took good care of us as we enter the restaurant, she took our name and took us to the table. From than on everything went like I was thinking MAGIC, from the waiters and waitresses to the Chef that came to our table and talk to us, he is a wonderfull man full of knowledge, always smiling and made sure that we were well taking care off.
Our friends, my husband and I were so happy about this OUTSTANDING, MARVELOUS PLACE. We will be back soon and send all our friends.

Pros: great place, great parking, great people

I was first attracted to the Imperial Fez with a promise of a beautiful belly dance performance, but returned again and again for the delicious food and fun, exotic atmosphere. Each return trip offered a new taste treat I had not tried before...and each time I was delighted by the lovely and talented dancers and server (my favorite is that Amani)...defintely the place to be in Atlanta!

Ratings_icons Wonderful Atmosphere.

kstewart529

I went here with my boyfriend and my Father. They both had a nice time ogling the belly dancers, while I enjoyed the atmosphere. A word of advice, don't wear a short skirt! You will be sitting on low cushions. The food was okay, it was the atmosphere that makes the place special. It's very dimly lit, filled with cushions and exotic tapestry. They even have an exotic little shop at the entrance so you can browse while you wait for a table. The belly dancers come out every 20 minutes or so. It can be very romantic for two, or a good time for a group, so long as you don't mind using your fingers to eat. I would go again.

Pros: Atmosphere, Romance

I went with a group of friends, and first off, they refused to let us share the meals (which were huge) unless we paid an additional 25 dollars for an "entertainment fee." The food was decent, but nothing to go crazy about.

Ratings_icons Great Experience!

danm2sq

Do you want to experience something different? This restaurant is highly recommended for the culturally diverse. Experience the belly dancing, food and difference. You basically come in, take off your shoes, learn, eat with your fingers, be entertained, and you dance (if you want to). I enjoyed myself.

mdparrish21

This is a place to go on a special occasion and you are looking for out of the ordinary. Sitting on the floor and eating with your fingers is not the norm for most. I found it fun, exciting, and very, very different. The food was very good, service was good, and it is pricey. But it isn't somewhere to go all the time.

Ratings_icons SOME LOVE IT, SOME HATE IT

jenreid7

I have been to the Fez two times. I had a great time both times. I like the belly dancers and I love the decor and compfort of the pillows and couches and sitting on the couches. This is not a place for children. I drank the house hunch punch. It is really strong and gets you drunk but pretty expensive. The second time I went my other friends didn't think it was that great and they hated the food. They thought it was a total waste of money. I think this place is awesome! Some of the food is funky, but I just made fun of it! Some carrot mixture that tastes like perfume. Also at the end, don't let them pour that cheap perfume water on your hands... dinner takes about 2 hours, so schedule accordingly. Also bring a toothbrush if you are going somewhere afterwards.

Pros: ATMOSPHERE, BELLY DANCERS, COMFORTABLE

Cons: STRANGE FOOD, EXPENSIVE, TAKES A LONG TIME

Ratings_icons Incredible Night!

From the moment I stepped into the Imperial Fez, I felt like I was transported to another world. The decor was lush and exotic, and the servers were friendly. The dancers were beautiful. The food was delicious! By the time the main course arrived, I was stuffed.
The best part about the Imperial Fez is the overall dining experience. We were able to stay as long as we wanted. We must have been there for 3 hours, and enjoyed every minute of it! The servers even performed a birthday song for me.

The bill was a bit pricier than what I'm used to, but since entertainment was included, I found it to be a bargain! Most people don't think twice about spending that kind of money at a dinner theater.
I'm going back for my birthday this year!

Pros: Ambiance, Service, Food

I guess the people who gave bad reviews here would just be satisfied eating at their local Applebbe's. GET A LIFE! My birthday experience last month at Imperial Fez will be one to remeber.
From the minute you walk in the dining room you feel escaped from reality and taken into another culture. The infamous belly dancing serves as impecable entertainment between the courses of the fine cuisine. And the service could not be matched. I've never met such friendly servers. They actually tipped me as I was dancing along with the belly shakers.
So for anyone looking for somewhere different to go, definatley give this place a try. But be sure to bring your wallet. This place can be a bit pricey.

Pros: Entertaining, Great food, Good for groups

Cons: Price

This place is an Atlanta institution for a reason. Wow! The belly dancing, the food...the whole atmosphere was absolutely amazing. Went here with a group of friends and we had a good time. It really was entertaining and the wives and dates really liked it because it was so different than the typical restaurant in Atlanta. A must try if you are visiting, as well! I highly recommend this place!

Pros: dancers, experience, food

Ratings_icons experience isn't worth the $$

My husband and I went with another couple. Food was decent and the decor was interesting, but the price was much too high--about $250 for the four of us and we are not heavy drinkers. Dancers were fun to watch, but couldn't see main dancing area from where we were sitting.

Pros: Food, Decor, Dancers

Cons: Price, Parking

I would just like to tell Atlanta natives and visitors that the Imperial Fez was the jewel of my recent entertaining affair. I had several friends from all overjoin me in a wonderful evening of fabulous food, music, atmosphere, and dancing. I have seen many bellydancers but atlanta has the best. And the owner Rafih is one of the most warm and hospitable people I have ever met and hope to converse with again. THIS IS IT my friends. A night to remember.

Pros: dancing/dancers, food, atmosphere

Cons: pricey but worth it

First of all, it's hard for me to even express in WORDS the experience that I had at Imperial Fez! Any other Moroccan Restaurant is merely a weak imitation of the Fez! The service was absolutely wonderful! From the host, to the server, to the photographer. And the Foodooooh weee! We ordered the chicken shish kabob, and it was delicious. Everyone there catered to our every need, making my fiance, and I feel very special. And I was very pleased with the belly dancers, and how talented and pretty they were. Definitely tasteful, and elegant! Go to the Fez for a truly entertaining Moroccan Experience!

Pros: Entertainment, Service, Delicious Food!

Ratings_icons back to my sejour in Morocco

john2002

I lived in Morocco for two years, I used to do Businness with the Moroccan Gov. However, I was really atracted by that north African paradize. The inspiration of the oriental culture mixed with a slite of the western traits that made that country a real paradize. One of the things that I was missing when I got back to the states, is the Moroccan cuisine. So I decided to go to the Imperial Fez Moroccan restaurent. The servise was excelent, the food was frensh and delicious and the entertainment was performed by a talented a beatifull dansers. Looking at the ratings about the restaurant I found out that some of the people didn't like some things while dining at the restaurant. However, I would stronly suggest making those comments straight to the management of the restaurent, that will be beneficial for both costomer and the service at the place.

I dined at Imperial Fez a few months ago and loved every moment of the experience. Food, Atmosphere, Belly Dancer and Service transported us to another place. Everything thing you put in your mouth is delicious. Prawns are awesome. I did not realize how good this place was until I visted another local Moroccon restaurant. No competition hands down. This is a pricey place, but well worth it if you want a special tasty experience.

Pros: Fabulous Food, Talented Dancer, Unique Experience
