Excellent Service Experience with Honda of Downtown LA.

My daughter's Honda Civic needed the major 30K tune-up service this month and I am very pleased that it was taken care of so professionally at Downtown Honda of LA. We were familiar with the dealership because she had had to have her car towed there last fall when a re-call item needed replacement - a salesperson had agreed to keep the shop open for 30 min after closing on Halloween (!) so that her car could be put in a secure place over the week end. We were very impressed with their service ethic & patience at that time, and the dealership is very convenient to her school, work and home. But we were also very concerned with finding a reputable service group that would not suggest any unnecessary repairs, and would honor the price for the service that we established on the phone.
I spoke with Mack, the service manager, about some less than positive reviews I had read but he assured me that they have a very satisfied customer base from both professionals and from parents of students that have their cars serviced there.
I mentioned an additional warranty repair that needed attention and he said they had the part in stock. He predicted that the service would take about 3 hours.
My daughter dropped off the car at 12:30 pm, took the shuttle home, and received a call that it was done at 4:45 pm. She was 3 days out of warranty but they took care of everything!! This is why we have had 6 Hondas over the years!! The car hadn't been washed when my daughter picked it up but Mack told her to drive by whenever it was convenient and he would get it washed.
We were very pleased with the transaction from start to finish. Everyone was very professional and friendly. We will continue to have our regular maintenance work done at Honda of Downtown LA.

Great Car Buying Experience with Honda Of Downtown LA

My husband and I recently bought a 2009 Honda Fit from Honda of Downtown LA. Dave Erickson was a pleasure to work with, as was the finance manager, Alex Armendariz.
Before we bought the car, we did some initial research online and took the car for a test drive. Once we decided on exactly which model and color we wanted, we used the feature on Edmunds.com that let's you request quotes from multiple dealers. (This is a great feature, I highly recommend it.)
Within 10-15 minutes, we had email quotes from four different dealers in the Los Angeles area. We also received phone calls from two, one of them being Dave Erickson from Honda of Downtown LA.
Dave told us that he had the exact model/color we were wanted and that it wasn't pre-loaded with a bunch of overpriced extras. He said that, unlike many dealers, they never pre-install items but let you decide what you want instead. The place where we test drove had the "performance package" pre-installed on every car for something like $470 extra, and we had no interest in it.
The other dealer we talked to on the phone said they also had the exact model/color we wanted and offered a quote that was less than Honda of Downtown LA. But we had a good feeling about Dave Erickson based on our phone calls and emails with him, so we decided to go there first and see if they would match the other quote.
When we got to the dealer, Dave showed us the car - which had basically just arrived on the lot and had only 9 miles on it. We looked the car over, then told him about the other quote. Within a few minutes, Dave came back to us with a yes - they matched everything the other dealer offered.
While we were waiting for them to run our credit check and prepare the paperwork, we really enjoyed talking more with Dave in his office. We showed him the video for "Fit But You Know It" by The Streets because it had been stuck in our heads all day. He showed us some hilarious YouTube videos about badgering car dealers. He's a pretty laid back guy.
The finance manager, Alex Armendariz, was a pleasure to work with and the entire transaction was a breeze!
