I just ordered for the first time from the online store and was truly impressed with the prices and selection. I will never buy another northface jacket from dick's sporting good store again. SB upgraded my shipping for free and both packages got to me in great shape! Now that I found SB I'll never pay retail for northface again! Thanks SB!!!!

Sports basement has the best prices for lift tickets.

As for sports gear, while the selection is not massive, they stock quality stuff and very competitive prices. I never have to worry about overpaying for anything and the gear is of good quality.

It is also nice that there are several locations throughout the city. Makes the shopping trip much easier because you never have to stress out about getting across town if you need to pick up any gear.

Great place to shop.

Looking at the other reviews, I would assume that at the actual brick and mortar store, the service is acceptable and the entire experience is satisfactory. Ordering online however, proves to be a different story...

I ordered a product online, then after FOUR days, they charge my account and says the order has been confirmed. The product did not arrive until 9 business days (13 days total!) and my attempts at communication were comparable to watching molasses shift (ie. did not happen).

The product also looked beat up and the packaging was tattered and loose. There wasn't any physical damage to the product, but it did not look brand new.

Their prices are low, but I would never order another item from this store online (or at all after this experience). Be advised!

Pros: Good brick and mortar service, probably...

Cons: No customer service online, SLOW product shipping

I looove this store. It's so huge and it has such great prices. So many different things to look at and they pretty much have everything for the outdoorsy personality type. It's fun, lots of selections and a great place to shop for clothing, equipment and shoes. Sports Basement Rules!

This store is amazing. They have every sports-related item you can possibly think of for every type of athlete. They carry tons of athletic clothing, coats, and shoes and have GREAT sales pretty regularly. They also post information for local events like 5Ks and triathlons, so just stopping in is a great way to stay in the loop.

My daughter found a great pair of running shoes for an excellent price. Very friendly staff that will assist you in finding what you are looking for. We will definitely be back when those shoes wear out.

I really love the great deals that I get here. I recently went in to buy a lot of camping gear, jackets, and backpacks. I was very impressed by the selection, though a little dismayed by the lack of helpful staff. I did have to go out of my way to find someone who could finally answer a question I had about a product, and they didn't seem to really know the answer anyway. I guess that's what you have to settle for when you're getting greatly reduced prices. I have to say that the product remains to be of excellent quality!

This place is like a Cosco or Lohman's for sports enthusiasts--swimmers, cyclists, skiers, runners, you name it. Great selection of shoes and gear and nutrition too. Can't beat the prices.

Right down near Fort Mason, this is the nicest sports Basement I have ever seen! Most sports basements actually look like a basement with crappy out of style/season stuff. Not this one. I got alot of really cute running and swim gear here for really cheap.

They also have lots of great information on area races and event and have an extensive schedule of classes (I haven't taken one). reminds me alot of the flagship REI in Seattle.

They also have a huge parking lot

PROS: Layout, location
CONS: addictive

The staff at the Presidio store are VERY RUDE and NOT HELPFUL, from the floor staff to the register staff. I walked around for 20 minutes without anyone asking me if I needed help. When I did ask for help, I was visually scolded by the two women for interupting their personal conversation. I will never go to this location ever! The staff at the 16th St Store run circles around them. I'm greeted at the 16th St store, and every staff person has been friendly and outgoing ---- they still have the charm of the original store.

Sports Basement has a great selection at the lowest prices in SF and the staff is very knowledgable. They've helped me get great running shoes and perfect hiking boots. Always my first stop when I need anything for working out or for the outdoors (I've gotten super deals on fleeces and long underwear for camping, etc). It's kinda in a weird spot but parking is not an issue.
