You absolutely must enroll in a Sue Myles class. I have had dogs for over forty years, and have always taken then to training. In all the years of training I have never seen a person as engaging, connected to people as well as dogs, with truly innovative skills and techniques.

My current dog flunked another class and Sue taught him to stop jumping up in one session. She got my terrier, Oliver, to come when called like a shot. He still does even at the dog park.

She does have a treat table with fabulous treats. I liked that I could buy some if I wanted. But Sue is not there to sell me stuff she is there to train the dogs. She even has an honor system where we all write down what we buy. She trusts people. If you dont want to buy treats then dont.

The harness that I got from her stopped Oliver from pulling in about fifteen minutes. But there were other people in the class using equipment that was different and Sue didn't care. She uses the kind of collars that people like and if they want to do something else she'll help. Most trainers make you use only the kind of stuff they like but Sue just says that if we like it we can use it.

I think the person who wrote such an awful review is a competitor. I dont believe it at all. Sue treats everyone with a lot of kindness and I have never heard her yell at a person. In fact, there was one person in class who wanted to yak a lot and I wish Sue had yelled at her to shut up. But she didn't. She has a lot of humor and class when it comes to people. everyone who comes to class gets attention and help.

I sent her emails about Oliver's problems at home and she answered them. And once she met me early when my husband wanted to learn something. She wanted Oliver to do well and spent extra time to see that my husband understood.

If you love your dog and you want a class that is a lot of fun and you learn TONS and I mean TONS at each class take Sue's class. Oliver and I are coming back to as many classes as we can.

Sue is one of the most talented and amazing trainers I have ever met. She isn??t training your dog; she is training you to train your dog. After all, YOU are the one that is with your dog day in and day out. So yes, you have to work with your dog every day, but when the work is more like play its fun. 20 mins a day is all I spend on training and if you are not willing to invest 20 mins a day in your dog, you probably shouldn??t have one.

Sue has wonderful training tools and techniques. The bean bag is the best. Want your dog to stop picking up junk from the ground - or to leave anything at all alone ?? well Sue??s bean bag does the trick. I only had to use her technique about 5 times in a 2 day period and from then on, all I have to say firmly is ??leave it? and she immediately drops or walks away from whatever object I want her to leave alone.

Often, like me, people think that their dog is ??so special? and no one that isn??t around her could possibly know how to handle their precious baby. Well let me tell you, with over 35 years of doing this Sue knows. Even if you don??t like that fact, she does. I have yet to come up with an issue that Sue could not help me resolve.

I have a little ankle bitter that should be barking, nipping and fussing up a storm. Not my little girl. With some really great advice and early training from Sue, my 8 month old yorkie only barks when she should, and it is typically a very quick sharp bark ?? like she means it. Not yap, yap, yapping. She never barks at new people she meets and never, ever, nips at anyone??s ankles anymore. She is such a joy to be around and we don??t have to lock her up when we have company. If someone is not a dog person or afraid of dog??s, a simple firm command of ??leave it? and she immediately walks away from that person and leaves them alone.

Sue always makes herself availabe before or after class for questions. She will also answer any questions you have through email. Sue is so much fun, she makes class enjoyable. Training a puppy or a rescue dog can be stressful. But Sue??s humor puts the class at ease and reduces the stress. How can your dog pay attention and learn anything from you if you are all pent up. While Sue has a great sense of humor, she is also very professional. If someone tries to try to hijack her class and make the session all about them and their little precious, Sue doesn??t fall for it. Every person in that group class has paid for their fair share of Sue??s time and she ensures everyone gets good quality training from the session. If your dog is in need of special training Sue has sessions for that too or you can schedule one on one time from Sue.

Sue offers a wonderful service to her clients by providing quality; USA made products that you can purchase from her ??treat? table. The cost is less than pet store pricing and I can get really good quality products from her that I cannot find in pet stores, saves me a lot on shipping costs. On class day 1 Sue spends a few minutes introducing the products she sells and then it is up to the client to purchase products or not. Anyone ??disturbed? by this has a loose screw. Sue is a business woman. If I go into a hair salon the stylist will introduce the products she uses and sells, and I can choose to purchase or not. Most intelligent business owners try to optimize their earning potential.

Most importantly, Sue really cares. She loves the dog??s. She remembers each of their names. She greats them all when they come to class. And the dog??s love her back. Since I have had such amazing results with Sue I have taken several sessions with her. Each session we learn something new and my dog becomes more and more wonderful to be with. All I have to say to my pup is ?? do you want to go see Sue? and she gets so excited. She is even more excited when she actually see??s Sue. I highly recommend Sue and am grateful to my next door neighbor, who happens to be a vet, who highly recommended her due to her outstanding training techniques and years of success training dogs.

I am in awe of the changes my dogs have gone through (all for the better) in the two classes I have taken. I wish I could take more, but am moving out of state. I travelled all the way from San Diego to her classes and it is the best use of my money ever! Totally worth the time and effort I put into travelling there for it. Nobody in the LA region should ever feel it's too far for them because your dog, your relationship with your dog, and your pocketbook will thank you --- do this instead of spending ANY money on books or magazines on dog training! ---- 5000 percent better results for less money!
She sells things too (treat table) but in comparing her prices and others its about the same, sometimes cheaper, and my dogs so love the ears. And I much prefer getting the thngs I want there instead of having to put in a trip to a store for it then.
Her wit and charm enhance the class, and she is spot on regarding seeing a dog's behavior and addressing it in the a very easy on the owner manner.

Kind regards from Noah and Hailey (via their "Mom"), U ARE THE BEST, SUE!

I took my dog through three of Sue's classes, and the fourth class is free. we just love how funny she is, and how she keeps the class interested, all the time. She includes a training mat, leash, training aids the bean bag and correctino spray, and a training booklet. She should charge more. All the dogs quit jumping up by the second week. I was in a class that used those annoying clickers, which are a pain to use and scared my dog. This class was the best money you can spend on a dog. This is the trainer who treats you dog as gently as they all should. Richard Piper...anyone who posts anonymously is probably competitor

I was referred to Sue Myles and Companion Dogs by my veterinarian's office after being very unsatisfied with a previous training experience.
I cannot recommend her enough. We had an in-home lesson, where she explained that (unlike the first trainer's evaluation), my dog was NOT aggressive, but was defensive. She also suggested not working privately, but having me bring her to class where she could get the exposure and socializing she needed which, by the way, was much less expensive! The other training company had recommended a boarding program at a cost of thousands of dollars to address her "aggression issues."
The class was wonderful! Everyone (and I mean everyone, dogs and people) had a spectacular experience! My dog is now admired for her good manners and behavior in ANY situation, thanks to Sue!
Sue was informative, funny, and thoughtful. Yes, she did try and sell products, but she is, after all, a business woman as well as a wonderful dog trainer.
I have and will continue to recommend her highly.

I liked her classes very much. She is the 3rd trainer I've worked with and absolutely the best! And, yes, she is very entertaining-we all laughed alot; and learned alot, too.
I also liked that she had things for sale, as it saved me an extra trip to a pet store.

sells food and stuff, and sells in her classes too. Positive reinforcement is good, but there are lots of positive reinforcement trainers around now, and many are not as commercial....

Sue was funny! but, every class she tried to sell us some product or other, and she was too busy to do our final class, so she had someone call us to cancel, and we didn't get any kind of refund...very expensive class, too. I like that it is force-free, but I wish it was correction-free--- we sprayed the dogs, she recommends rattle cans...Still better than many trainers!

I decided to enroll my puppy into Sue's puppy obedience class after finding her website and reading up on her training techniques. I was really interested in it because she uses positive, force-free training without the use of choke or shock collars. She is wonderful! Her training techniques work and she really understands and loves dogs. She is very friendly, helpful, fun and you can tell that she cares about your pet. You always learn something new in class and it's entertaining. She tries to humor the class with her jokes and is always willing to talk to you if you need help and she always responds to emails. We even enrolled in her basic obedience class after the puppy class because she is the best trainer ever. The price of her group classes may be on the pricey side, but it is definitely worth it. If you want a dog trainer that has over 30 years of dog training, uses force-free methods, cares about your dog and enjoys what she does, sign up for one of Sue's group classes, you won't regret it!

PROS: Training methods work; trainer is friendly, fun, caring, helpful
CONS: Somewhat pricey (but worth every penny)
