This place is decent, and the food is alright. Just middle of the road in the overall scheme of things. Prices are reasonable, service is good.

I ordered the California roll and the City Boy Roll (shrimp tempura, fish, avocado, etc.). Both were just okay. The rolls were smaller than some other of my favorite places.

Hard to describe a great roll, but its just not here.

Not bad to visit though if you need a sushi fix and find yourself on Piedmont Ave. in Oakland.

This is a great neighborhood Japanese restaurant. Service is prompt. Food is delicious and fresh. They give you free edamame and good quality green tea. They don't skimp on the portions either. Anything from the today's specials menu has been very fresh. Their spicy stuff is really spicy, so I wouldn't recommend it if you can't take the heat. It also has a bit of a strong sesame oil flavor, so be aware. It is not the best sushi restaurant but it's a very fine place as a go-to spot when I don't want to go far away from home and don't want to wait for a table. Asian restaurants are not known for their desserts but this place does have some delicious mochi ice cream and ice cream tempura.

Pros: Great service, fresh sushi, free edamame

Cons: Parking around Piedmont can be hard sometimes.
