Please realize people that if you buy ANYTHING at this store - animals, food, toys, etc. - you are helping to condemn untold numbers of breeding stock dogs - back at the puppy mills (please see pics) - to their hellacious horrible lives.

Today (8/6), I visited the Petland store in Georgetown in Wolf Ranch. While I've been considering adding another pet to our family for a while now, I'll admit that I did not go in with the intention of walking out the door with a puppy unless one absolutely stole my heart. I've visited this store several times in the past and almost bought a Yorkie two months ago. Unfortunately, the little guy sold before I had a chance to take my husband back to see him. Today, however, I saw the cutest English bulldog pup and wanted to "visit" with the pup to see how he was disposition-wise, etc. Since no one had even acknowledged my friend's and my presence in the store in the ten or so minutes we'd been in there, I walked up to a gentleman I saw across the store (possibly the manager?) whose name I regret not catching, and asked if I might see the bulldog. He replied with, "You want to see the English bulldog?" So I said, "Yes sir." He replied curtly and almost incredulously, "To play with it?" At this point, I began wondering what I had done wrong to elicit his short-tempered response. I replied, "Uhmm, yes sir?" to which he rudely replied, "That dog is $3500. You don't want to buy it. Lady, I sell dogs here. They aren't to "play" with." And with that, he turned on his heel and walked away from me. How dare this man assume that I could not or would not pay $3500 for a dog!? My Yorkie was not exactly "cheap," and he's the most precious thing ever! Also, I would like to know how many people decide to purchase a pet from Petland without first physically meeting the dog to see how it responds to him or her? I was blown away by both this man's tone of voice and attitude with me. I have never met someone that rude. I am surprised that Petland can stay in business with that kind of customer service. I will NOT be purchasing a pet - or any supplies - from Petland EVER again, and rest assured that I will let everyone I can know about my horrific experience with your store

OMG - just read the review written by alyxis.

A puppy purchased from a reputable breeder (or better yet - the animal shelter) would not have mats in their coat, neither would they have ear mites!!! Your puppy didn't get ear mites from Petsmart - get a clue! Of course DAXA was nice to you - because of your ignorance she was hundreds and possibly thousands of dollars richer - she's not running a charity there - hello. But worst of all - DAXA made a tidy profit on the backs of suffering animals (your puppies parents) raised like chickens - in elevated outdoor wire cages, exposed to the elements, isolated from any human care. I'll bet the ears of every dog in the puppy mill where your puppy came from are full of ear mites, and have plenty of other medical problems too.

And - just plucking hair out of ears doesn't magically cure ear mites. I hope you have figured this out by now, Alyxis.

Get a clue people!!!

Pros: None

I bought my first puppy from Petland in Southpark Meadows and from the moment we walked in I felt welcome and while yes it is a bit odd to talk about a warranty on an adorable little puppy, I am so grateful for all the help that DAXA has been. She is great and when Petsmart said they would have to shave my Aurora's hair off she took the time to comb out the mats, and yesterday they plucked the hair in her ears when I found out she got ear mites after her visit to Petsmart as well. While I don't know if they truly buy from puppy mills I know that my baby is happy, healthy, and the best addition to my life thus far! My little one was an outrageous amount of money, but I adore her.

If you are against Petland for getting puppies from puppy mills I understand you reasons, but don't attack the wonderful employees at this store. I feel at the heart of each of the people I've dealt with truly love animals and only want the best for them, a home.

Not only does this store buy from puppy mills in MO, they sell sick animals and then do not abide by their warranty. The manager/owner will NOT call you back because, according to a former employee, they just want your money. Do your homework on this store!!! Don't buy anything from them because they will not work with you and do not care about the animal. The employees are not trained to handle customers and this store is known at the corporate level to be a problem store that does not handle customers well or return calls.

Please do your homework before purchasing. Ask to see proof that pet is from a local breeder. Local means TX, not another state! Google "puppy mills" for more information. Get your pet from a local breeder - and do a home inspection first - or better yet - visit your local shelter, don't buy - save a life!
