4 Stars: Gene Juarez Northgate + Academy (by Jay R.)

My daughter and I have used both the main salon at Northgate and the nearby academy. The primary reason for going to the academy was cost. The primary reason for occasionally using the salon is time. It is possible to get a really good cut at the academy, although it helps to be specific with your requests. And they are learning, so be sure to give feedback. That said, the academy process does take more time, a lot more time. So, if your time is precious - stick to the salon. Either way you should get a quality cut.

5 Stars: You can't get better (by Sally R.)

I have received several services at the Northgate Gene Juarez. There is no doubt that this is a pricey place but the adage is true-you get what you pay for. They just remodeled the Northgate Salon and the colors are beautiful. You are whisked away to the spa area when you receive any services. The massage is calming and just right and the shower afterward is great.

5 Stars: Gene Juarez Academy***Downtown Seattle***Excellence (by Dina M.)

As a spa headhunter, I decided to try the Gene Juarez Academy for a maintenance trim, while outgrowing my V-line bob. (Very out of date today!) and asked them very specifically for my outgrowing bob be leveled to an A-line.As in all academy's, there is an instructor-and mine happened to be a stylish, beautiful woman who had much experience, obviously. For the consultation with her student, the student (before the style began) told the instructor exactly what I conveyed to her myself, as in working with the transition for my style "of the month".And good or bad, the instructor listened carefully, her eye's brimming with creativity and after listening to completion, she immediately began talking as if I were not there. She said, "Look at her shoes, look at her bag, see the same color two toned tops, and even the jewelry that matches. This will not be your typical vertical. She's obviously is a woman of style and taste and knows exactly what she wants." And between the student and the instructor as they both worked on my hair, the instructor was finicky or determined, which ever you choose to call it;I rec'd the best A-line that anyone in Seattle could have received for themselves. The cost of this fabulous cut was (always is) $30.00 and a tip. She also recommended great Kerastase' products for hair repair, it needed something pretty badly-and it absolutely works great for my processed hair.Anyway, I believe image matters. So I'm left to wonder. What would have transpired if I had shown up in a sweatsuit with a shoddy bag?I prefer to think these women are bred and trained with style and taste themselves at Gene Juarez. Very talented.

3 Stars: expensive haircut (by Hester S.)

When I was in seventh grade I finally decided to get an expensive haircut, and so I came here and spent a whole lot of money on a haircut that was basically a puffy bob that they didn't tell me how to maintain.

4 Stars: Pretty good haircut for good price! (by Sara G.)

I am reluctant to pay $50 for a haircut anywherem especially with no recommendations from friends. So I have been trying a few places that range in the $20 area. The Gene Juarez Salon is great! They give you a careful and quality haircut for a fraction of the price of a fancy salon. The stylists are friendly, and even though my cut too a while, it was worth it.

PROS: Great price, clean place, friendly stylist.
CONS: Took an hour for my cut to finish

5 Stars: Great Hair Stylist! (by Yvonne B.)

The Gene Juarez Salon in Northgate is a great salon with a relaxing atmosphere and an attentive staff. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and considerate of any special needs or concerns you may have. Yent Tam is a desinger
there who styles my hair. She is a true artist and is good at assessing your needs and desires for something as important as one's hair! Overall, it's a great experience every time that I visit this salon and I always recommend this place to my friends.

PROS: Comfortable, clean, and stylish environment. That staff is friendly, helpful, and attentive. This salon provides various services ranging from facials to hair cuts.
CONS: The prices are comparable to other salons, but it's not as cheap as Hair Masters. You pay for what you get.
