I first visited Destiny Christian Center (http://destinycc.com) in April 2007 and found the atmosphere very inviting even though they are meeting at the YMCA over on MacQueen Smith in Prattville. From the moment I drove into the parking lot, these guys loved on my family and I and made me feel welcomed and we hadn't even gotten inside the building yet. Visitors get a parking space right up next to the door, and I'm telling you, before you get inside the building there are probably going to be 5-10 folks that will greet you and make you feel welcomed. Dress is very casual and I'm learning to enjoy that. I showed up in a suit and tie the first time we came and while I didn't feel out of place, I was one of the few folks that was wearing a suit and tie. I've learned that a sport shirt and jeans or slacks is much more comfortable and you can get the same amount of Word in you if you are relaxed as you can when you are dressed up in a suit. Not that there is anything wrong with dressing your best - lots of folks do that, but there is a freedom there that I haven't found in many churches and I've been to lots of them. There isn't a fashion show mentality there. The Pastors there are great, and again, I just felt so welcomed there that I plan on staying and getting blessed and calling this my home. I've finally found a home where I feel welcomed, loved and encouraged. This church is growing and they even have two services. One at 9:00 and the other at 10:45 and the praise and worship there is awesome. It's not too loud and it's not so stilted that you feel you are at a funeral. All I can say is come and visit and check it out for yourself. My teenage son is very pleased with the youth ministry and feels a part of them - but that is so easy to do there. They are just a non-traditional church that is reaching out to the youth and everyone in this area and are doing an absolute AWESOME job in doing so. There is a good mixture of ages and races at the church and it's not all old folks and it's not all young folks. And like I have told folks that go and eat at the local Golden Corral over in Montgomery, if you can't find something you like at Destiny, it's your own fault and you are just too picky.Come and check them out and sometime and see if what I've said isn't true. You are sure to blessed!!!
