Well I've been going to Dr.Collins for some time and I haven't enjoyed my car ride there. He's very rude and impatient. He complains a lot and I don't see why he complains I'm the one who should be. He comes in so late one time we went straight to the place after I got off the bus at school and we arrived at about 5pm and I was not seated till about 7. By the way it was my mom and my two sisters and we did not leave until 12 in the morning. I know we had to be with him because of our insurance. I agree with the other reviews when they say he verbally abuses his assistants. His assistants are young and rude except for one. They would get aggravated and become all aggressive and I am only 15 . They are ghetto and mean and Dr. Collins has a potty mouth. I would not really recommend him to anybody. O and did I mention that he has anger issues
I think he about chewed my head off because I was tired from waiting so long. I'm not the one to judge but he gotta go better yet I'm better off with nanston.

I honestly am oblivious to the fact that "Dr.Collins" has a license to practice dentistry. His lack of professionalism goes beyond words. I had to do research to check up on the authentacation of this unreal practice, and I found this:

James E. Collins, II, DDS, License No. DN011981
Atlanta, GA
Alleged Violation: Consent order in Illinois November 2002 for aiding and abetting unlicensed practice, failing to provide adequate follow-up care to patients, and administering controlled substances to patients without a valid license as a controlled substance prescriber/dispenser.
Final Action: Consent Order docketed 01/15/04 - probation, $500 fine, provide documentation of payment of fine in Illinois.

It is posted in a bulletin by the GA State Board of Dentistry on this website: http://sos.georgia.gov/plb/dentistry/newsletter_05.pdf

I wasn't the least bit suprised to read this, as this man tyrants around his office with the mouth of a sailor and the demeanor of an addict. He has a relatively young staff; all females in their 20's, and tries to pawn them off on patients to make up for his incompetence. It really was border-line pimping as he verbally abused them at every chance, while condoning his male patients to lust over them. He carelessly had conversations throughout the office of his frequenting to strip clubs and his personal sex life...DISGUSTING!!! I honestly could never stomach visiting that practice again, or Dr.Collins himself!

As a new resident to the Atlanta area, I was seeking an African-American dentist who was relatively close to my neighborhood and accepted my insurance. I found Dr. Collins listed on the Blue Cross website and made an appointment for Dec. 2009. Only a few months prior I saw my dentist in New York City and left with no dental problems; I went to Dr. Collins for a simple routine cleaning. I arrived at 5:30 p.m. for my appointment. After talking with the hygienist, I saw Dr. Collins who told me I needed a 4-quadrant scaling, not a routine cleaning. I was unsure why i would need such treatment, with no evidence of gum disease but trusted his professional opinion. I was injected with 6 shots of Novacaine til I was nearly unconscious. Dr. Collins asked me "If I smoked marijuana?" prior to giving me the injections. He then performed a bi-quadrant cleaning, and I was to schedule a follow-up appointment. I was in the office until 9:30 pm waiting for him to finish this excruciating procedure and my mouth remained sore for 2 weeks afterwards. I immediately changed doctors and told my new dentist of the ordeal, he assured me that I did not have gum disease nor should I have had a scaling and questioned why so much Novacaine had been administered. I would not recommend Dr. Collins to anyone and will be registering a complaint with my insurance and appropriate dental boards.

RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN ! ! !

How this man calls himself a dentist is BEYOND COMPREHENSION. I walked in for something simple. I expected to wait a bit; turned out to
be 4 hours. Since I had already taken the day off from work, I intended to try to wait to be seen.

Within that time, I heard everything from verbal abuse directed at his assistants, screams from patients, watching this dentist "IMPOSTER" repeatedly answer his cell phone. I listened and watched angry patients complain about the ridiculously long waiting periods. I overheard from a couple of people, this was always the case. I was dumbfounded by watching this man use tactics to get money from patients - (I saw a "senior" couple standing at the front desk) that I would expect to hear from a loan shark. He had the gall to make bible references to attempt to explain away the aberrations WITNESSED BY ALL OF US. Plus, let's not leave out the smattering of SEXUALLY HARRASSING COMMENTS that were overheard by me and other patients.

I ended up leaving. I could no longer stomach this abominable side-show. Nor would I ever put myself in the hands of such a disgusting excuse for
a qualified, medical professional.

I still cannot believe he is allowed to practice dentistry.

I had a 5:30 pm appointment at Collins Family Dentistry. I arrived at 5:25 p.m. and my presence in the empty waiting room was acknowledged at 6 p.m. After waiting an hour, I was finally seated in the dentist chair at 7p.m. At this time, a vest was placed on my chest for x-rays. Forty-Five minutes later, as I drifted off to sleep, the staff returned to do the x-rays. I never saw the x-rays, but 30 minutes later the Dr. arrived to explain the procedure I needed. After the explanation, the Dr. asked if I had already paid my office visit fee, which I then paid despite my growing ire. At about 10:30 p.m., the Dr. returned to begin my procedure which , including his breaks, constant answering of his cell phone during the procedure and chastising his assistants for his lack of preparedness, took over 2 hours to complete. During the procedure, his assistants were leaning on me from exhaustion and literally resting their hands and elbows on my chest as I Iay in the chair. One of the assistants was over 8 months pregnant and so I did not want to be rude, but I could not help but feel somewhat uncomfortable. Dr. Collins, even quipped, that " He don't care he a man, he don't mind ladies feeling on him.", which I thought given my experiences of the day was a fittingly unprofessional remark. I left his office at 12:30 a.m. and was physically sore for 3 weeks. I only returned when I had an issue related that to his previous work which I wanted resolved. And I write now motivated by the fact that my filling just fell out again!

My first experience was a few months ago, my appointment was at 6pm. While I was waiting, I heard Dr Collins complaining that he was sick of patients with HMO's because HMO's don't pay. I happen to have an HMO so that was already a turn off. They did not seat me until after 7pm. This was after I asked the receptionist to reschedule me. Against my better judgment, I allowed them to talk me into staying.
Dr Collins came in and administered Novocaine shots on me. While I was waiting for him to finish with his other patients and return to me I heard him literally tear his assistant a new one for not getting a clear xray on another patient. I was embarrassed for her. Again, I tried to leave which caused him to come in and start asking me if I had been to church that past Sunday, when I told him no he said that's maybe why I didn't have any patience. He actually had the nerve to ramble off some scripture about patience. This annoyed me more than anything first of all because of his assumption that all of his patients followed the Christian path and secondly because he was using GOD to justify his lack of professionalism. By the time he got to me which was around 9pm, the novocaine was starting to wear off a little so it made my procedure more uncomfortable than it needed to be. I finally left his office at 10:40pm and I still had to go pick up the prescription that he wrote for me. You would think that after that horrible experience that I would not return but I gave him a second chance.
This time I had an appointment for a cleaning at 4pm. At 5:30, Doctor ( and I use that term loosely) Collins had not even shown up. When he finally arrived around 6pm, I was on my way out of the door this caused him to try to talk me into staying. I told him the only way that I would stay is if he could promise to get me out of the door by 7pm then he blamed the assistant for not "sealing the deal"( WTF is he selling cars?). I corrected him and told him she was the only reason I stayed this long. He talked me into staying and I agreed only because I had paid my portion in advance and I knew it would be like pulling teeth (no pun intended) to get him to refund my money. There was a lady in the next room who was LIVID because she had been waiting longer than I had been. She ended up leaving the office and again he began to blame the the other dental assistant. While he was trying to "seal the deal" with a 3rd angry customer, I grabbed my blackberry to send a message, Dr Collins walked in at that time came up behind me to read the message that I was sending out loud, and said "I'm nosey" while laughing! Who does that? The only reason I allowed him to clean my teeth that night was because I knew it would be a bigger headache trying to get my money back.

I'm not surprised that he had an entirely different staff the second time I came. The way he treated those ladies was bordering on abusive. .His behavior was downright erratic.I guess he thinks if he talks to us about Quite Frankly, his behavior leads me to believe he is suffering from some sort of addiction so even if you have nothing better to do than to spend 3 hours in the waiting room of the dentist office, please consider your safety before visiting this office.

P.S. I'm going to have to call BS on that first review.. I think Dr Collins wrote that himself...
