I've been to the shop-2 years ago. They had great inventory and were most helpful. I've been receiving their newsletter regularly until recently. A month ago I called to make sure they would be open on a Saturday while I was visiting East Lansing. When I called their number, no one answered. 411 information told me there was no such business, and no phone # listed. I have sent several emails asking their status, and no one answers. I still haven't received a newsletter, either.

Things have changed at this shop. Customer service is non existent. I tried to special order yarn from them in March. They told me they had a special relationship with the yarn company and could get the yarn in just a week or two. Still no yarn They won't even return my phone calls or talk to be when I come into the shop. Stay away.

You will not find another yarn store that offers more yarn, patterns, accessories, and the kind of help you need to get started on a new project. Rob and Matt, co-owners, are knowledgeable, friendly, and willing to answer questions or give advice or if they are busy find a super staff member to help. The store has a FANTASTIC selection of fibers, patterns, knitted/crocheted models, and even places to sit while you ponder what yarn to use for a project you yearn to make. Threadbear Fiber Arts Studio is a welcoming community for people who love fiber. I highly recommend checking it out.

Visiting ThreadBear is more than a shopping experience.
The very wide selection of fibre almost becomes secondary to the other pleasures offered on every trip. From the wealth of experts, who make themselves available for the novice to the expert, to the comfortable atmosphere, it becomes difficult to leave.

Each visit is a sensory experience from the wealth of beautiful color and textures everywhere, to the aroma of coffee. Humor abounds as customers and staff just thoroughly enjoy themselves. It is not to be missed and easily becomes an addiction.

Threadbear is 112 miles (one way!) from me but I consider it my favorite LYS. It is well worth the drive. I just wish I could get there more often.

Rob and Matt are shop owners extraordinaire. They provide a wealth of knitting knowledge with a good dose of humor and often a bit of friendly sarcasm thrown in (Hi Rob!) :-)

The selection of yarns at Threadbear is unbelievable. If they don't have it, you don't really want it. There is something there that will be just as lovely, if not immensely lovelier, than what you were looking for. It never ceases to amaze me how much yarn is in that store at any time.

Classes are varied and quite reasonably priced. I recently took a 4-session spinning class that even with 900 miles worth of gas figured in still was about the same dollar output as a 2 session class much closer by.

The first trip I took to Threadbear was with a bunch of my knitting buddies and ended up being an all-day affair. We got there soon after opening, had a lunch break and then a few of us went back and ended up staying until dinnertime!

There is truly that much to take in. Plus, when you're there, you just don't want to leave. It's a knitter's haven. Being a new spinner, I am happy to see their spinning section expanding too.

Stop in and see Rob and Matt, the lovely staff, and Conner and Tate (the dogs). You'll be hooked!

What else do you need to know, really?

ThreadBear Fiber Arts stocks a huge assortment of yarns, including a long wall of Cascade 220 in scores of colors, baby yarns, sock yarns, silk and bamboo and cotton and alpaca yarns, handpainted and handspun yarns, wools of all sorts, plus lots of sparklies and exotic yarns. ThreadBear also carries a wide selection of books, patterns, needles, crochet hooks, buttons, and gadgets, plus rovings and spinning supplies.

Well-priced classes are offered on a variety of projects and techniques, and recurring events like movie nights and knitting afternoons assure plenty of knitterly company.

The staff are friendly and available but not pushy, and the owners are happy to share their formidable store of knowledge and expertise.

Be prepared to be overwhelmed by possibilities when you go to ThreadBear. Luckily, there are plush chairs and couches for comfortable perusal of books and patterns and of course for simply knitting. Free coffee and two adorable shop dogs make you feel at home.
