A Better Choice Waterproofing (ABC) installed an interior (under-slab) drainage system in my home during the first week of May, 2008. I decided to have the system installed because of a mold condition that developed in my finished basement. Their salesman (Jude) surveyed my home and gave me a written estimate for the installation. He also described what the installation involved, which I was curious about because the system needed to be installed underneath finished walls. I explained to Jude that I was going to be gutting the basement to the bare walls to remediate the mold problem and offered to remove the bottom 12" of the walls so that the installation crew could remove the concrete slab perimeter and be able to re-pour the concrete without any problems. Jude told me that his installation crew would remove the lower portion of the walls since that was their normal installation practice. When the installers arrived, the jack-hammered out ~14" of the concrete slab around the entire perimeter of the basement. They didn't remove any of the walls though in the finished portion of the basement. The following day when they came back to finish the installation, I questioned why they didn't remove any of the walls and was told that they could get the new concrete poured under the existing wall studs and it would be as smooth as it was before they started. Two weeks after they were done and gone, I demolished the finished walls in the basement and found that there are serious gaps and voids in the concrete they poured and there are many areas that there is exposed aggregate that wasn't even close to being covered. I'm at a stand-still now with remodeling my basement until ABC repairs the concrete. I've been trying to get in touch with their Operations Manager "Bill" for at least 6 weeks now (leaving phone messages) and have not heard from him yet. I understand that they are a busy company and overall they do great work, but I'm growing increasingly more frustrated by not having my phone calls returned!I don't want to go down the road of contacting the BBB, but If they don't return my calls soon, I'm going to have to do something so that they correct their workmanship issue. All in all, their system is GREAT and I would recommend them to anyone who has a similar problem with mold.
