Buffalo Athletic Club Inc

I was a member of other Gyms in the Western New York area. Their service doesn't compare to the BAC's. You won't find people ready to help you anytime you need it. There are employees walking around, constantly asking how my workout is going and if I need any help with anything. Occasionally, they ask me if I know anybody else interested in checking out the club. Just like any other business, this business is run by word of mouth. I'm more than happy to advertise for them.

i love this place and so do my friends and family it is great when everyone knows you, and its great when i lose weight and get closer to my goal they know about it and care, i recieve compliments from the front desk people all the way up to the manager, i see the other reviews about not being able to cancel try to understand its a business if a store in the mall took your word on a sale then everything would be half price.or probably free.you cant just cancel something you have to prove it, wait you said you moved so u must have right!!!!!! i love this place im losing weight im feeling great and happy as could be

I went to the BAC with the intention of getting the 3 month special for $49. Once they got me in the room, they pressured me to join for a year. I told them that I was planning on getting pregnant soon, and that my doctor did not want me at the gym during a future pregnancy due to a miscarriage I had. They ASSURED me that if I became pregnant, my contract would be dropped with a doctors note. Well guess what? I'm pregnant now, and when I went to cancel my membership, they told me the ONLY WAY I could do so is if I had a doctors note saying I could never return to the gym again due to a medical condition. THEY LIED TO ME RIGHT FROM THE BEGINNING! Anyways, they wanted me to continue paying even though I don't use the facilities, so I cancelled my card. Now I just got a letter from their collection agency saying that I owe the full amount of my contract PLUS $100 extra dollars!!! Even though I had already paid for 4 months! Is that even allowed????

I agree with other members and former members who complain about lies in the onboarding process, fraudulent business practices : STAY AWAY! I joined in 2007, in January 2008 I moved more than 400 miles away to start a new job. I had very little notice and had to notify them after the fact. Sent certified letter requesting end of contract, surrendered my membership card, added signed letter on letterhead from my new boss per their phone instructions. SIXTEEN months later, having changed my debit card, I get a letter that my most recent payment has not gone through! As an aside, I don't have access to the transaction history on that card, it belongs to my b/f who was deployed in Iraq at that time. I fax again to complain that my request was not executed, they send a letter - I have to pay two months MORE PLUS a $25.00 fee to get out of my contract, SIXTEEN MONTHS after i requested a discontinuation in writing!!!!! These people are unethical and dishonest - I strongly recommend against membership with them. Chris T., I submit that the reason they are expanding is that they take peoples' money without providing any service in return.

Poor customer service & borderline fraudulant. Would rather spend twice the $$ to go to a more professional facility. The employees walk around like they are the coolest thing - i would like to remind them that most of them are part time workers at a freakin' gym?? What, you can't find a real job??

There is a reason that these guys are expanding all across Buffalo and Rochester. They care about there members! The dedication that the Bac has towards the community is like no other around. They seem to always be updating the facilities and buying new machines. The staffs are well educated and are always willing to help. Its nice when I walk into the club and everybody knows you by your first name. As a mid-50 year old women this makes me feel comfortable and I actually look forward going to work out. Go check these clubs out. You will love these guys!

I was a member of the BAC for a year and did not want to re-contract because I was in transition in my job. After many phone calls they convinced me that I could be released of my contract if my job was moved. So I joined - a long story short they lied ! I was not released from my contract. I wrote letters and was denied any type of buy out or compromise!! It is terrible they way they con you into joining under false pretenses. They have terrible customer service and I would urge anyone thinking about joining to check into other clubs first.

I hate the BAC Southtowns and the club owner there named Bob. He lies through his teeth about raising the music in back and it annoying people, he has a fanny pack filled with cocaine, and is a complete joke. The workers there are leeches and constantly argue and fight with other club members to get to talk to the women--whom they annoy. One worker, Kevin, quit-thank god-and was the biggest foul mouthed loser at the club. He was constantly talking about penises and being a Bible reader but everything he talked about was rude, about swinging, or anti-Catholic. There is a short, midget guy who goes by Jack there, and he has a complex against anyone taller than him--mainly anyone over 4 5. The gym is filled with washed up losers, old men who walk around naked in the shower room, creepy workers who are uneducated and could not find a real job, and a loser boss who only cares about pulling his pants up and down. Do not waste your money.

not knowing a thing about exercise when i joined i was 45lbs over weight and had high blood pressure. i train with chris and meet with jim and josh consistantly to review my program i am now under my goal weight i have no more high blood pressure i have gotten all my friends and family to go with me to change there lifes aswell thank you thank you thank you i could not be happier with the buffalo athletic club at the blvd mall!

I have been a member since 2002. Regardless of how very convenient it is, I will not sign up again. My main reason for the low rating is customer service. The club managers seem to have little regard for the customer concerns and there is literally no-one to complain to beyond whomever is the current club manager. They do not cater to their customers and once you sign a contract - they treat you like they do not care about your concerns. Since they rotate managers and staff every so many months or every year, any relationship the members had is gone and members are then stuck with the whims of the new manager. If they want to blast techno music non stop - that is what they do. It definitely is not a place to go if you want to enjoy a workout without feeling like you are at some dance club! Their answer - buy headsets if you don't like the music! If you like young uncaring managers and staff with an attitude and you like non-stop techno music - its the place for you. If you join - dont sign a long term contract - because if they change managers and you dont like what is going on - too bad, they dont care. Now in Buffalo, at least there are other options.

i have a member there for over 5 years and i love it. They are always adding new equipment, you never see equipment broken and the staff is always extremely helpful. I have been to many clubs throughout the united states and this club by far is the best I've ever been to.

The BAC has hours that are conducive for everyone. If you cannot make it during the hours they are open then you are just making excuses not to go. The catch here is that they are typically very busy and you end up waiting for machines if you use the more common machines during peak hours. The rates are a little higher than some other clubs in the area.
