I must agree with most if not all of what tyandlaynesmom said in her review. i experienced the same condescending receptionist and screaming kids in the background while on the phone with them. They charged me $30 to cancel the service and stated it was stated on my statement (which it isn't). They would always dump the can, but never pick up any extra bags or trash. So glad to be rid of them - and they are not even that cheap any more. I don't know why anyone would use this company when there are simply no advantages. Why pay high prices for cheap service?

I have been using Derby Disposal for the past 2 years. When I signed up, I was placed under a service agreement. I was told at that time that the service was cart only. I understood that they had an automated arm that came out to dump the carts. I have had no problems with this service. i have read the other reviews and think that they are baseless. I have stood in the office and hear how these ladies talk to the customers and they handle themselves with dignity and respect. I have hear customers yelling at them on the phone and they never lose their cool. I wold like to offer my three thumbs up for this service

I have been using Derby Disposal for the past 2 years. When I signed up, I was placed under a service agreement. I was told at that time that the service was cart only. I was a customer with this company for more than 3 years-because they were cheap. You get what you pay for! I had little issues every once in a while, but nothing that would make me want to switch companies. However, that all changed after a phone conversation with the receptionist on September 1, 2008. She was very rude and condescending to me. We decided at that point to cancel our service. We were paid thru the end of September and had just mailed the next 3 months payment the day before. We asked them to close our account and not to cash our check. They went ahead and cashed it anyway. I started calling immediately to get a refund and was told they would cut refund checks at the end of the month. I waited until mid-October and called again since I still hadn't received a check. It is now January 21st and I have been calling ever since. I get excuse after excuse and I NEVER get the return phone call that they promise. I have been speaking with the owners wife, so I'm guessing she is somewhat in charge. It has now been more than 4 months and I am still struggling with them. I finally started mediation thru "another source". Of course all of a sudden, they found my file and issued a refund check and charged me a $25 cancellation fee! I voided the check and returned it immediately and I continue to fight this. It is worth the extra $10/mo to do your business with another trash company. This one is a joke. If you are lucky enough to get someone to answer the phone, children can be heard playing in the background. They are completely unprofessional and have low/no customer service standards. Do your homework and look elsewhere for a trash company! I would rate this company a zero, but they won't let you do that. A 1 very generous!

My trash company gave my account over to Derby Disposal. Not knowing them and wanting to give them the benefit of doubt, I stayed with them. I paid my 3 month fees. In the first 6 weeks, they picked up my trash 2 times. I called multiple times every day every week and was promised my trash would be picked up only to be left 2 weeks or more in between pickups. I cancelled and went with a better company and requested a refund. They are refusing, charging me a full month even though I didn't get service for the month and are charging me a $25 cancellation fee even though it is their own fault I am cancelling. I have been fighting them for 2 months to get my money back since they did not hold up their end of the contract. When you call, very seldom do I get someone in the office, and there is no option to leave a message. I don't know how they are staying in business, they are worthless!

Absolutely no customer service or resolutions when business is contact...if you can get anything from the company it is just excuses and an extremely rude attitude from whomever you speak with

Pros: They are always sure to send your bill to you long before it is due

Cons: Not exactly sure what I'm paying for since they will only take what is in the small cart they provide
