Summary ??
Poor Service,
Multiple menu items sold out at 430 in the afternoon on a Sunday.
Poor Service
Long wait.

I recently went to Smackies off 161 on Sunday March 15th. This was my first visit since they moved from the free standing building to the strip in Columbus Square. On the previous 2 visits the food was good however service was lacking. This visit was a complete disaster.
My girlfriend and I arrived around 430 and there was no line. There were approximately 4 or 5 table with people eating. After looking at the redesigned smaller menu we were asked if we were ready. My girlfriend ordered a brisket sandwich and corn nuggets and collard greens. That was answered with the cashier saying ??What did you want?? as she was listening to the other cashier talk to another person behind the counter. When my girlfriend order again we later realized she rang her sandwich up incorrect. I proceeded to order a Beef sandwich with sides of corn bread and mac and cheese. The cashier reads back the order and a cook runs up and says they are out of corn nuggets. She went for the baked beans instead and we got 2 iced teas. Total was 19.82$ at 3:37pm on the receipt all though the time had not been updated to daylight savings (4:27pm). I was 3handed 20 cents and told to go sit down.
After 10 minutes I was wondering what was taking so long. They are reheating slow cooked meat from a warmer so it shouldn??t be taking an excessively long amount of time. There were at least 4 people in the kitchen are and 2 cashiers. No one else entered after we did. At 15 minutes we were annoyed. After 20 minutes when the cashier comes over and says we are out of Mac and cheese I was done. I said we would just like our money back. After 20 minutes with no other customers you are telling me you are out of more food, and we still haven??t gotten our food.
The cashier walks back up to the counter and we follow. She walks into the kitchen prep area and starts a conversation about the clock being off, and we weren??t waiting that long. 20 minutes is too long to then be told they are out of more food. Many of my friends including my girlfriend are chefs at a variety of restaurants and private clubs around town and that is absurd to be told 20 minutes later they are out of another of the few sides. She then comes back and says you didn??t wait that long the time is off. I said I know its an hour off but 20 minutes is too long since we are just now being told you are out of more sides.
The cashier walks back to the back and comes out and tells me that she just now told me cause our food was coming up. I said I just want my money back as its been too long and you don??t even have what I ordered. She proceeds to tell me well the foods almost ready. I said this is not worth it. I??m not waiting. As she stood there we left. Now I was out food and the 20$ At that point it was worth it to leave and not continue debating how long is too long, wither or not ??my food? was coming out cause they still didn??t have what I ordered.
I am all for local business and trying to disregard detached servers, but when it takes 20 minutes to tell us more food is not available, and to try to not refund my money is unforgivable. I have told multiple people about this experience since then and will continue to encourage any one from going to this restaurant in the future.

I love this BBQ restaurant's food. I especially liked their potato salad. It's really nice to be able to pick out what kind of bbq sauce you want. I only wish you were waited on and there weren't cement floors. A little above average on price but well worth it. Had enough to take home for another meal.
