.

I started seeing Dr. Joyce Brown about six months ago. At first, she seemed very friendly and concerned about my medical issues, but by the fifth appointment, she had become another person entirely. Are you a depressed soccer mom? She'll kick you out of her office and then ask the other patients, "What does she have to be depressed about? She stays home all day." If you think you might be showing symptoms of say, an ear infection, bladder infection... don't tell her! She will rip you up one side and down another because now you are diagnosing yourself. "Who's the one who went to medical school here? Me or you??" When I had to go to Urgent Care over the weekend and saw her the following Monday, she complained "That's what's wrong with PPO's...patients can go wherever they want without notifying their PCP."
As if that's not enough, she has also implemented these Nazi rules you have to sign before you can see her. I've never EVER seen this done. Anywhere. Like, "You will not bring your spouse or other family members to your appt.," "You will not smoke before your appt. (even if appt. is at 4pm) and if she can smell smoke, you will reschedule for another day (of course, a 50.00 cancellation fee is required for the "missed" appt.).
She's really gone off the deep end and I got tired of jumping through all these hoops long before I left. I am now seeing a local doctor here in La Vergne who will take the time to work with me and listen without the snide remarks.
Please do yourself a favor and keep looking for a physician. There are many others out there who do care, even if you are just a soccer mom with PPO insurance.
