I have been attending Camp Favorite for five years now. I have grown up looking forward to going to camp to sail every summer and I personally know that it is an amazing and very clean site. Sure there have been some bitter counselors, but usually it is because of a camper who is a brat. The amount of showers depends on what kind of program you go to. If you are in a program that involves salt water, such as Advanced Sailing or Surfing, you shower everyday and sometimes multiple times a day. Although, if you are in the art program and stay in the art room for hours, then yes there really is no need to shower very often. Also, it is the camper's duty do do their chores or "kapers" and watch wear they walk.

Both my daughters have been to Camp Favorite for 10 and 12 years respectively and my oldest is now a counselor there. The beach of Long Pond is pristine and beautiful and would not have "razor blades" on it. Every child (and parent if they drop off) meets the nurse who is on site all the time. Showers are not daily, nor do they need to be at camp, while swimming in fresh water every day. Camp is a little bit roughing it, it's not a hotel. I've known the directors and I"ve known many, many counselors and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this camp to every girl scout and to any girl who aspires to the girl scout promise "to leave every place better than they found it" - hard to do at such a beautifully managed and magically situated camp. It has everything for wonderful summers - sailing, boating, swimming, adventures, biking, surfing, campfires, star watching, hiking, arts and crafts - I could go on and on. Any valid complaints should be directed to the Girl Scouts of Eastern Mass IN PERSON and not made anonymously on any site. Parents have contact info for complaints since they had to have registered their girl for the camp. I wish I could rate Camp Favorite higher than 5 stars to make up for this odd and merit-less review.

My daughter and her friend just got back and they both agreed it was a horrible experience. They said the counselors were mean and they were afraid of them. I could go on and on about how they were mistreated at this camp - but just to give you a few examples - they were denied water breaks while raking and cleaning the beach during a 90 plus degree week - the counselor yelled at everyone - they were only allowed 2 showers during their six day stay - my daughter was not given any medical attention from the on site nurse or counselor after cutting her leg on a razor while cleaning their beach, and she has the scar to prove it! Also, her friend was not given medical attention by the on site nurse or counselor when she got a bee sting and cut her foot on a boat. My daughter has been to two different overnight camps and has always been really happy recalling her camp experiences afterwards. My daughter and her friend are both nice girls, A students and eager to please. I stand behind my rating 100 percent and would NOT recommend this camp to anyone. My rating is NOT BIASED as I do not have a daughter that is a counselor at this camp. I did in fact call and I spoke with the director at the camp about my concerns. She promised to look into my concerns but went on to say her counselors have first aid training and that she stands behind her counselors. She also informed me she would NOT follow up with me since my daughter would not be returning to this camp. Additionally, I conveyed my concerns via a survey I received from the Girls Scouts organization but have yet to hear back from anyone.
