If I could give zero stars I would, my dog was attacked by another dog brought her in they took her right back they said she might have broken bones, might have ruptured bladder no free fluid but not sure we will get her stable should be able to come home tomorrow they gave us 2 estimates a low and a high 588 low 833 high next day they wanted to keep her they had her so strng out on pain meds very little communitcation picked her up on 3rd day bill was 1400 after we were told they would call if they went near high estimate... dog is home now not doing well at all not sure what they did to her bt i will never bring another animal there they are definetly not specialists unless it special in rip off people 40 dollars to put gauze on stomach, 50 one shot of meds, 18 to check blood pressure seems like they care more about $$$$ than the care

I took my lab here on the weekend since my vet was closed and had a very bad experience. Vet said she was having seizures and might need to be put down. I took her back to my vet when he opened on Monday and it turns out she just had a bad ear infection that was messing with her equilabrium. The vet at Eastern Iowa Specialty Clinic NEVER LOOKED at her ears. He seemed to just "diagnose" her by looking at her behavior and decided based on her age (she was 9 years old) that she was having seizures. It's a year later, she's fine and has had no further issues. I did get a refund for the visit but the vet sent a CYA letter stating that it still could have been seizures. Haven't seen one since! It was a very stressful and upsetting experience. I think the care varies widely based on who is on staff when you come in.

I brought my dog in for vomiting on a Thursday night. He was treated for two days. The continuity of care was practically zero. Nearly every time I talked to a veterinarian, it was someone new with a different opinion. One vet would talk about surgery, another about more drugs, and then I'd get someone else scheduling a time to take him home
He got better, but it did not seem to have anything to do with the treatments (especially since none of the doctors could make up their mind anyway). I should have waited until Friday morning for my regular vet (Frey Pet Hospital).
Thank Goodness I didn't let them talk me into an unnecessary surgery, as I probably would let them if they had been consistent! Also the prices are outrageous for bad service.
I dread the idea of ever going back but they seem to be the only emergency option around.

I took my daughter's cat to them because she was not doing well on a Friday night and every place else was closed. I live in NE CR so it was a bit of a drive but completely worth it! The staff was excellent and very caring. Her cat had to stay overnight because she was very sick. Ultimately diagnosed with lymphoma. The vets did a wonderful job talking to my 5 yr old daughter about her cat and were very patient and helpful. I would recommend this group without any reservations. By the way, I'm an emergency physician [for people, not pets :)]

I took my dog out here because my regular vet was closed. My dog couldn't urinate. They decided to releive her bladder with a needle and pull out the urine. They wouldn't let me go back in with her and I asked how she was and they said fine. They wanted to keep her overnight and I questioned that. I took her home but when they brought her out, she was not fine. They had manhandled her so badly that she could barely walk or stand. I had to hand feed her water that night because she couldn't lift her head. Unfortunately I had to put her down two days later. I regret with all of my heart taking her out there.
