This place is horrible. The food is subpar and the staff is nothing great. I felt like my meal was slopped onto a plate without any thought. This should be in a less noticeable location, other than Broad Street- maybe some side street in West Philadelphia. Definitely won't be frequenting this place again.

Pros: not getting sick at the restaurant from the yucky food, i guess i should be thankful

Cons: food, service, parking, did i mention the food?

.

Bison burgers very good high quality and unique taste and texture. Really enjoyed the food, too bad the service was just terrible.

Could not get a single order correct.

To top it off the server kept pushing us to see the desert menu while we were still eating dinner. She had to come over 4 times trying to get rid of us.
This was a Friday night with open table and no wait. Maybe that says something.

my husband and i went here last night with another couple before a show at the academy. we made a 6:30 reservation thinking that would give us plenty of time to get to our show for 8:00 PM. we were told we would be seated in "a few minutes." half an hour later, we had watched two tables get seated before us. finally, we said something and they took us back only to find all of the four-tops occupied, so we were sent back to the front to wait even longer. we discovered they never transferred our name from the buried reservation sheet to the top sheet the staff actually looks at. by the time we were seated we had about 45 minutes to drink, eat, and get to our show. the food was fine, and reasonably priced, but with service so atrocious, why bother? we barely had time to have a conversation during dinner, much less enjoy our meal. there are plenty of other steak places around. i strongly suggest you visit those instead.

Pros: the sasparilla is very tasty, and does not contain corn syrup

Cons: terrible service

There were 4 of us and overall the meal was a disappointment. The Bison shortribs and Bison meatloaf (the latter too many spices for my taste) were ?OK to Good?. The 16oz. Prime Rib (one ordered rare, the other medium rare) were both cooked to the same temperature and both lacked any real flavor. The Fries were very good but the asparagus was all but inedible. With a bottle of wine, 2 shared desserts, and tip, the bill came to around $100 a couple. Because of its close location to the theaters on the ?The Avenue of the Arts?, we thought it would be a great spot to check out. There are several other and much better places to dine in that fit this criteria than here.

Pros: Nice Bar

Cons: The Food

Upon opening the menu, I thought this was a great choice for the sized group we had (8). The prices are extremely reasonable for the location it's in but our service was horrible. My bland salad was snatched away before I was finished. Two people in our group sent back their steaks, I would have but was too hungry so I ended up covering it with steak sauce and hot sauce. The people who sent theirs back didn't see new steaks until everyone was finished, and one came back with completely wrong side dishes. When we ordered dessert, I wasn't told mine was not available until nearly everyone had been served their orders. We were missing another dessert, and when we asked where it was, told it took 12 minutes to heat. We had theatre tickets and had we known that, that dessert wouldn't have been ordered.
I was really disappointed, because I had high hopes for this place.

Pros: Very reasonable prices.

Cons: Can't seem to get steaks right.

My husband and I attended a show at the Kimmel Center last Friday night and had the fortunate experience of dining at Ted's Montana Grill first. It is unique in several ways! Our server was very friendly and helpful, since we were first timers we had several questions and she was able to answer every one of them with great knowledge of the menu and honest opinions of her own. She mentioned the bison burgers and steaks that were cut in the restaurant and never frozen. She said that there were no microwaves in the kitchen and that the only freezer they had was for the ice cream so everything on the menu was prepared right there and was as fresh and homemade as it gets. I had a beef filet that came out cooked to perfection and topped with blue cheese. My mash potatoes were excellent but the asparagus was a little under cooked. My husband tried the bison meatloaf and was very happy and pleasantly full. We were told to save room for the cooked to order apple crisp and we were glad we did. It was a perfect combination of crisp apples, creamy caramel, a crunchy pecan topping and vanilla ice cream that topped it all off. Not only was the food good and service great but the manager also stopped by our table and asked how we were doing? He also took a second to tell us why the straws in our soda were paper instead of plastic. It turns out that Ted's is very concerned with the environment and cuts out as much pollution as possible buy using recyclable paper instead of table cloths on the tables and paper instead of plastic straws. We were able to enjoy our meal and get to the theater right across the street in perfect time after having a very tasty and affordable meal. The meatloaf was $15 and my filet was a little over $20 same quality as Ruth's Chris or Capital Grill with out the pricey bill. We did have a reservation which was a good idea since there was a 45 min wait if you didn't have one. I will return to Ted's soon.

Cons: Parking

Depending on what you're expecting, Ted's may or may not meet your needs. If you are looking for so-so food in a nice enough setting, your expectations may be met. But if you're looking for earth-shatteringly good food, keep looking. The place itself is nice enough, a high ceiling, requisite animal head hanging on the wall, and red checked tablecloths. The service was acceptable albeit a bit amatureish, and our server, when asked about our meal, just nodded and aplogized when we told him that our special of the day, the bbq'd short ribs, were very fatty. That being said, the real weak point in the chain is the food. One member of our party ordered a bison burger medium rare and it came out overcooked and devoiod of juiciness. The fries that it came with were great, though. Another tried the meatloaf and found it, too, to be dry and overcooked. And the aforementioned short ribs were mostly fat and were very greasy, and served in a sauce that tasted fresh out of a can. The onion ring appetizers were adequate but nothing special, and "Aunt Fannie's famous" squash casserole tasted like it had been cooking for as long as it has been around.

I made reservations, but it did not seem necessary as there was ample seating for early dinner. The restaurant has a mild romantic ambience which is enhanced by the 2 person booths. But it is a place I'd recommend if you were just hanging in Philly with your buddies as well. The service is excellent and the staff is very courteous. You can expect smiles and pleasant personalities from the hostess, your server, and the management who checked in on us at our table several times.

The food menu choices were a nice selection of your run of the mill American cuisine with a nice touch of Bison burgers and steaks. The prices were VERY reasonable, certainly in comparison with other restaurants in the area. If you are going to see a show in the district, get good seats and eat at Ted's since they won't break your bank.

Pros: In the heart of the Theatre District, Superb service, Food

Cons: I can see them getting busier which can slow down service

In Short
Lots of mahogany, tin ceilings, metal crown molding and Arts and Crafts-style décor prevail at this casual, comfortable saloon, part of media mogul Ted Turner's domain. Beef and bison are king, and they're hand-cut…
