BUYER BEWARE: Could also be doing business as Aqua Pools & Spas, as well as Beach Aquatic Pools in Virginia Beach. Please do your research before doing business with this pool co. It's been 5 months & our pool project is still incomplete. First red flag, they don't give their full names on their website, contract, etc. John Jiannine (sales), owners: Jeremy Martin & Chris Fowler of Virginia Beach. Also see reviews for Sea Breeze Pools & Spas, Trident Pools and check the DPOR.com site. Numerous complaints and suits filed against Mr. Jiannine, co-owner of Sea Breeze Pools. Mr. Jiannine & Mr. Martin were working together under Trident Pools, which has since gone bankrupt. Now doing business as Designer Pools & Spas. Interesting to note, they open pool businesses and change names often. In 2014, while building our pool, they opened two new businesses in the names of Aqua Pools & Spas, as well as Beach Aquatic Pools in Virginia Beach. They operate on an installment plan. With each installment you give, plan on not seeing them for 30+ days. Many excuses offered as to why they are unable to come today, along with promises to finish. Be prepared to get strung along. They've abandoned our pool job. This is what are hard earned money paid for: a leaking pool for a week, a crooked ladder in the deep end without proper plates, no plates around the skimmers. Piped for a pool fountain, but never installed. Left half a fire pit. Concrete already cracking in several locations. Also, have not received colored lenses for the lights, ropes, floats, maintenance equipment, etc. Now left with hiring additional subcontractors and more money out of pocket to fix what they've left undone or done incorrectly. Completely left our yard in shambles, trash everywhere, boards, clumps of concrete, etc. Had to make several hauls to the dump and re-hire & repay the grading contractor to grade our backyard so our fence could be installed. Scary thing...they're still soliciting new business and recently attended the 2014 homearama.

Trident (then Artistic) Pools did my pool about 4 years ago. I'm sure there are a lot of variables that go into building pools, and they may have a different crew, but these guys did a great job on mine. Started on time. Finished on time. Few (if any) hiccups along the way. Best of all - didn't create any work for me. The finished product was in fact a work of art. This is my second pool, and I learned a lot of lessons the first time around. John Jiannine's equipment recommendations were straight on and have made the pool practically hands off. The salt system has been great - little to no chemicals required in 4 years and never anything but crystal clear.

I'd use these guys again.

I don't know if this is true or not, BUT...just found out from those who have been fixing Trident's poor workmanship that the company is working under a different name now. "Designer Pool Inc" out of Norfolk at Little Creek ALLEGEDLY is owned by the same people. I have not been able to find out who owns the company as the web site doesn't state the owners names and no search comes up with the owners names. The company is not accredited by the BBB and not registered with The Tidewater Builders Association. I would steer clear...licensed and insured means nothing...reading reviews and knowing there are NO complaints against them is the most important. We are STILL trying to make their mess right. BBB states the Trident went bankrupt and the owners can not be reached...isn't that convenient!

It seems that my husband and I have had the same terrible experience as most people who had Trident build their pool. We had the pool for 4.5 years..it never was completed to our satisfaction. the hot tub heater never worked PLUS the ALL Hayward Products we were promised never came about which means that the three year additional warranty on any of the Hayward products used is null and void. Trying to get in touch with BJ and Stacey Whithead was like asking for an audience with the Pope. 4.5 years later our liner is pulling away...the piping is coming loose, PLUS was told by the Hayward Rep that came to look at the pool heater that never worked that the size filter BJ put in is to small for the size of pool that he built for us. Like the previous dissatisfied customer, we considered suing them, but learned the company was in bankruptcy and would probably not get any money back to fix what was done wrong. We need every penny to go toward correcting the POOR workmanship left behind by Trident. I did do my research, interviewed several pool companies and at the time we hired Trident ...there were no reviews like those that are here now.
The in ground pool experience that we had always dreamed of having has turned in to a nightmare...if I could go back I wouldn't build a pool at all...I'd buy a YMCA membership and be done with it.

My rating UNsatisfacotry AND I would NEVER recommend! NO stars would be better.

I started off dealing with artistic pools and John Jiannine. When it was time to start on the pool it was turned over to trident pools and BJ Whitted. Engineers gave two options. #1 was to build the pool on pilings. #2 was excavation with getting engineers approvals at various stages. BJ assured me that they could do option #2 and that they would stand behind their work. Well before the pool was entirely finished it had already started sinking. Since I still owed them money, they attempted to repair the pool. They got it close to being level and assured me it would not get any worse and offered a 3 year warranty. Well, now after barely a year it has sunk 3 inches and it is going to cost me $22,000 to get it repaired.Of course like all the other posts here, Jiannine and Whitted will not assume any responsibility. Jiannine did come out and look at the pool and all he did was say he would talk with Whitted.Of course nothing ever happened and you might as well forget about getting in touch with him or his wife stacy. I could go on and on as this has been one of the most frustrating and embarrassing things that has ever happened to me.I looked into suing them but the first lawyer I called informed me that their firm was already in litigation against trident pools.Imagine that! I figured that there was already a line of people lined up to do the same so rather than throw my money away to lawyers, I'm looking for other avenues to get the word out about these people. The lesson learned here is to not buy into the B.S. and always do research on any company doing work for you. Anyone reading these posts would not touch trident or artistic pools with a ten foot pole!Artistic pools works all the home and garden type shows as does trident pools sometimes If you want to vent in person, check out these shows.Spread the word about these _ _ _ _ s!

My pool was installed last year and was done well. When we finalized payments I also paid for the a pool cover that was to be installed in the October time-frame. I have made numerous attempts to collect on this but am now exhausted over the inability to even leave a message for BJ Whitted or Stacey. It is now March and all I would like is a refund of the money paid for this since I no longer need the cover. I have filed complaints with the BBB and am now preparing to file litigation to get this back.

Another unhappy/frustrated customer! Seems the list of dissatisfied customers continue to grow in number as the quality of workmanship and service declines!! Pool installation started in early April 2008 and issues still remain unresolved. A boat load of promises and boasting of long-term customer service has failed to arrive. Delayed installation to our original company, Artisan Pools, that merged with Trident pools. Seems greed for profit has left customers pleading for service that goes unanswered. It is troubling sign when the owner even fails to honor his promise of a service call and sends his junior staff member who can only be the messenger boy. Terribly disappointed with this company and would most strongly NOT RECOMMEND entering into any binding contract with this company!! Having to pay additional costs to other companies to complete the grading project and confirm a leak in our pool liner!!

Trident Pools was recommended to us by our builder Stephan Alexander. At first it was a good experience. They talked us into the bells and whistles. We started pool construction Sept 10, 2007 it is now Nov 29,2008 and my pool still isn't right. I've made numerous attempts to contact BJ or Stacy before our 1 year warranty was up and all attempts have failed. BJ is full of BS he promised on 15 different occasions that they would be out to fix the wrinkles in our pool. No one ever showed up. So that is 15 times I had to take off work to let them in the backyard. 15 times my life went on hold to adjust my schedule for them. That was just for the wrinkles. We upgraded and got the spill over spa which was put in unlevel the first time my wife had to go out and tell them it was uneven. The spa has it own heater which has never worked. The light comes on no heat. When I called about that BS told me it takes a while to heat up. So I let it run for 3 days its a 1000 gallon tub shouldn't take that long. I called the maker of the heater they told me 24hrs tops to heat up. Said they could warranty it but I had to go through my dealer "Trident Pools". They don't answer their phone. So its now been 14 months since the start of this dilemma and I still cant get through on the the phone to them. But I did talk to their new partner and he said he would take care of it NEVER heard from him again. So STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!! They will Rob you. I have a $40,000 dollar embarrassment in my backyard that I have to tell people that come over sorry can't use that it DOESN'T WORK!!!!

Trident Pools installed my pool two years ago and it was a great experience. The crew was exceptional and very professional - I had to call for service this year and saw the other rating listed online and had to respond. Many of my friends have had problems with other pool companies in the area and I have referred them to Trident for assistance (and they have been pleased also). Their customer service is excellent!! They really care about their customers and their workmanship is top notch. I will continue to recommend them to anyone.

Our experience with Trident was truly exceptional. We had a another pool company (Atlantis Pool Sales otherwise known as Ken Kellerman Jr) build our pool but they left us hanging with a mess and a tremendous financial burden. Trident came in and took full responsibility, before we knew it the pool was done. Leo and his dad were a class act, they communicated very clear and really became part of our family. The one thing we really respect about Leo and Trident Pools is the high level of integrity and workmanship they have. Since then Leo stills stop by to say hello and ensure everything is good to go.

They are truly amateurs. The price kept changing (going up), they demanded cash for certain parts of the job (makes me wonder about the IRS) and they failed to complete the project on time - about 8 weeks late and counting right now. The owner passed me off to another guy - then they kept passing me back and forth. They rarely showed up on time or even on the days the told me they were going to work. They needed constant supervision and even then really did a bad job on certain aspects of the job. Leo is normally is full of crap - if he says it's sunny bring an umbrella! I left dozens and dozens of unanswered voicemails. Very frustrating. I would give the completed job about a "D" at best. There are some significant problems with the work and they refuse to make it right - probably going to start with the Better Business Bureau (they are not members) and will probably end up in court. I will have to pay a reliable company to re-do the work I already paid them top dollar for. STAY AWAY from them - go to ANYONE else. They are BS artists not qualified pool people.
