I came to this salon with no style and had no clue what should be done with my hair. Thanks to my friend who recommended me this place and Roger who has given me the best hair cut and style. Roger gave me a consultation on how to maintain the hair and the style and play around with different styles.

I have been a costumer of Peir Michel salon, until I realized my hair was so damaged from over processing and too conservative style I decided enough is enough. A friend of mine told me about this hair salon that she goes to, called ?AR hair salon?. I called and made an appointment for a cut and style. When I walked into the salon I was greeted with a warm and welcoming smile. I was then introduced to Roger. After having a consultation with me, he decided he wanted to do a complimentary conditioning treatment on my hair. Furthermore his assistant gave me an amazing shampoo and scalp message. Roger?s cut and style, WOW is all I can say. When he was done I looked like a movie star. I will be a client of Roger?s for life.

I have been looking for a salon for almost two years.Until my friend recommended me to AR hair salon. I love the service that this salon provides. For nail service, I highly recommend Nadia. She's very friendly and does a beautiful job with nails. Also, she does a killer pedicure =) For hair service, I recommend Roger. He is very sweet and is an amazing hair-stylist. I normally do highlights and hair cuts for my hair and my goodness,he does a wonderful job. The color he uses for my hair gives it a natural-color touch, which I love. Rogers assistant Chris is very nice and does a very good hair wash. Overall, the staff is friendly.I highly recommend this salon.

I have been up and down this island trying to find someone that can tame my wild mane and Roger is the only one that could give my locks what they need, he aslo colored my dull overgrown hilights to the richest chocolate brown, I love it. If you are looking for a salon that is warm in the CHELSEA area this is the place to go. No attitudes, Just sweet professionalism..GREAT TEAM .

Today was my first visit to the salon and I am instantly in love!!!! I have very long hair and I am wary of trying new salons, as some stylists tend to get "scissor happy", but my previous stylist had moved to FLORIDA so I was forced to find a new place. As soon as I arrived Artur ready for the appointment. Also, it was a very comfortable atmosphere, it didn't have that pretentious feel that is typical of midtown salons. He sat me down and asked me exactly what I wanted and delivered just that! When I was finished and I walked out the door, looked at my watch and did a double take.... 45 min from start to finish- and did I mention that I have really long curly hair that he had straightened.

After many years with another hair stylist my partner recommended Kenny. He has been great. I like how he cuts my hair and he is very personable as well. I would recommend that you see Kenny for a great experience at this salon.

This salon came recommended by friends, Roger specfically. Although my color is decent, this is the worst haircut I have ever had. I would have been better off with the Flowbee. I explained what I wanted, we discussed what I wanted, I showed pictures of what I wanted - meanwhile, 1 inch bangs paired with layers ranging from the tops of my ears to the middle of my back were quite an unpleasant surprise.

If you need me, I will be busy wearing hats and growing my hair out for the next six months.

A neighborhood salon with results that exceed any of the high-end NY mega-salons. The entire staff is incredibly personable, warm, & funny. I have been going to the salon for over two years and have been with a few different stylists. I have always been completely satisfied with my cut and color. While I rely on ROGER expertise, he is very collaborative and is never condescending or patronizing when I have a suggestion. I consider myself to have a more progressive hair style and I am always pleased with the results. If you want to treat yourself, look your best, and not break the bank, go to AR HAIR SALON

I hate getting my hair done. I really don't like the idea of millions of little hairs potentially getting in my eyes. Albert , the hairdresser took precision care of me and my fears, and gave me a great masculine haircut. I have very dark hair, HE told me I would look great with some coffee highlights and he did just what he said. My boss(a man), and my girlfriend both think it makes me very hot. I feel great about this place. It's kind of bohemian .THANKS

Artur gives the best cuts in the world! Not only is he extremely talented but his personality lights up the salon, I completely trust him and have reccomended several friends all of whom love him as much as I do. With regard to some of the nasty comments from people who were unhappy with their cuts or color, the salon offers free adjustments on both within 10 days if you're unhappy. he gave me highlights which were even better than I asked for they look soo natural that people think Im a natural blonde (which im far from being). I would never let anyone else touch my hair. Bang-trims are also free and theres no sales pressure. Try ARhair salon, there is literally nothing to lose, if you hate your hair they will fix it for free until you love it as much as I love mine! A R isn't a hair salon, its an experience. If you like chatting with friends over some coffee, wine or tea while getting "beautified", then this is the place to come to. Skilled, knowledgable, and endearing stylists make you feel right at home upon entrance. High-end style for an unbelievable inexpensive price, 7 days a week. I love my hair and hope this is the start of a beautiful relationship. and I will pass the word on to all!!!! I have found my hair place !!!!!!!

The experience is wonderful as a team in the salon is focused on making the customer happy and relaxed! I love that I've found a nice beauty haven so close to my home and at such a reasonoble price! I have been to many salons . It is also nice that the salon has a well designed interior and that there is an obvious ambiance that A R salon is trying to create, unlike most salons . Albert cut my hair and did an excellent job. he is also very nice and personable and is officially my new hairdresser! Thank you Albert !

I had an unpleasant and unfortunate experience at Salon AR. I used to see Harriet, she did great cuts and blowouts and once did a wonderful job of taking my natural blond hair deep and dark. But then when it was time to go back to blond, the experience was painful, disheartening, time consuming and disastrous. Harriet and I spoke for 15 minutes and I communicated very, very clearly and specifically that I wanted thick golden highlights. But instead, she took my hair darker (my guess is a mistake was made while mixing the color) and my hair had an odd, green tone. Then, she put skinny, ashy highlights in my hair, which only appeared on the back of my head. Of course I cried when I looked in the mirror, plus, my scalp was burning and scabbing. Then the owner stepped in, and seeing what a mess she made and knowing that I had been in the salon for over six hours, he told me to come back early the next day so he could try to fix my hair. The owner actually opened the salon early to accomodate my schedule (which I appreciated), and on day two I spent another almost four hours in the salon. The owner re-highlighted my hair and, horror of horrors, it turned orange. My poor follicles! He then tried to tone down my hair with folis but completely missed sections on the left side of my head. My beleagured hair was broken, fried, damaged and besides being 20 different colors I had to see my Dermatologist for medicine to soothe my burned scalp. I then had to go to two other salons for corrective color and conditioning treatments, costing me over six hundred dollars. Salon AR told me that all of the problems were due to "miscommunication," so if you go here, please, please over-communicate your desired looks and bring pictures. The good news is, they apologized to me and eventully refunded my money. I used to really like this salon, but I will not be going back. Such a shame.

I visited this salon for the first time in June of this year and received a color, cut, and style from Mark. He was very specifc and conscientious in his choice of color for my hair. It is difficult and a litte nerve-wracking trusting your hair with a new stylist (I had recently moved to the city.), especially for a new cut! But, I was more than happy with the results and will be visiting again soon!

Wow! I am probably THE MOST difficult person to please when it comes to my hair, especially with color/highlights. I have been highlighting my hair for ten years and have finally found someone I trust. On my hair, Roger gives the perfect amount of blonde highlight with golden lowlight, so that the final outcome looks natural and beautiful. He gets very close to the root, which I have found not every stylist does. Rogers cuts are also to die for. And did I mention the shampoos are like having professional massages? I now have beautiful rockstar hair, and the blow-out was fabulous!!! The salon was fun. The staff was funny and friendly. No gossip. No attitude. Just a nice, laid-back vibe. I had a great experience at this cute salon.

First of all, I have a few anxiety issues...Enough that going to a new salon is a Big Deal. Thank you Albert !This Salon was perfect. The people were so sweet, and not overly sweet, where it makes one uncomfortable, just really caring. I cannot say enough about how down to earth they were, but the most amazing thing was the cut and the color. I said only that I did not want to see any orange or red , but that I needed all of the grays covered.Albert gave me a beautiful style, and gorgeous hair! I will go down to the chelsea to this salon- and have my hair look beautiful .

You're looking for a hairsylist that you'll want to go back to time and time again, look no further than ARTHUR at AR SALON . Arthur been cutting my hair for years and everytime it looks exactly the way I want it to. Before I met him I was in the midst of that seemingly never-ending search for a stylist who would actually listen to what I wanted and then could actually do it. Sound familiar? Well, I search no more... and neither should you. If ever there's someone you can feel comfortable and confident wielding scissors a few inches from your face,( Arthur pleasant and personable guy at that!). HE is all about one thing: giving you the best haircut you've ever had in your life - even if your previous best was the cut he gave you last time...

After reading all the reviews,I finally went to AR hair salon Just got my hair cut,colored & highlighted, This is the 1st time,I actually love my haircut without any regrets.I have jumped from place to place in nyc,.Have thick hair - really damaged. Arthur sat me down, combed out my hair and spent time with me, asked me what I liked, what I want and not want. he was patient and actually listened. A lot of other places, they barely hear you-let alone listen.Staff there is nice,no attitude. he did an amazing job, everything about it was perfect. I finally found a place where I can commit to. thanks to the city search. I FOUND MY DREAM SALON

Unexpectedly exquisite! Roger is a superb stylist with uncanny imagination and practicality, a very unusual combination. As picky as I am, I was impressed, surprised and delighted with the way I looked after he had done his magic. The color was perfectly selected, way better then any place I?ve been to before (including a few very well known and superexpensive salons). Roger expertise and creativity seems to span all the areas of the hair styling: coloring, haircuts, blowdrying? He does it all so well!

The man has got a gift and he is sharing it elegantly. Highly recommend!

After living in NYC for almost seven years, I knew how difficult it was to find a relatively reasonably priced salon without sacrificing quality. Comprable to what you might pay at a normal walk-in or Dramatics, you can have the salon owner personally attend to you, patiently consult on what look is best, and walk out with a beautiful look. On a given Saturday the salon is filled with a mix of models, Chelsea inhabitants, professionals, etc. so it's a very fun vibe...and they give you wine, so what could be better!

i found ar salon on city search, and i gave them a shot and set up an appoitment with mike. the receptionist on the phone had informed me that mike had moved to a different location on 23 street. the minute i walked in i love the atmosphere in the salon. when mike had seated me in his chair i knew right away that i could trust him, he knew exactly what to do. mike i love the color and the cut.

I've been searching for an excellent salon sans outrageous prices in the Manhattan area for a while, so when I found this place and had a great experience, I had to write a review. I received a manicure and highlights, and both were outstanding (and I am hard to please) along with the super-friendly people and nice decor. I also was asked if I wanted a glass of wine. With their caliber service and excellent prices, I will be surely returning next time the roots grow out. Highly recommend ...just don't take my appointment slot :)

I was very pleased with my experience at AR. The staff is very friendly. Mike did a great job with my hair. He exactly knew what would look good and I couldn't be happier with what he did. He also gave some great tips on products to use to help manage my hair with minimum maintainence. Strongly recommend this place !

Do not be fooled by the ratings. The worker that uploaded the salon to citysearch must have done this himself. I got a haircut hair and got compltely butchered. I should have ran after the cut dropped the scissors twice. My haircut is uneven and choppy. I asked them to leave it long and they made me look like I just got out of the army. I am ANGRY!

I decided to go to AR based on the awesome reviews it got on here and I'm really happy about my decision. Harriet cut my hair and she did an awesome job....I wasn't sure what I wanted exactly; just something short and choppy and she recommended that I look at a picture. She helped me find one and she got to work. She stuck to the picture for the most part but made sure to make the look work for me. I am sooo happy with the cut and highly recommend her as sylist. Well, I had to write this review a while back,but just got caught up with work! Finally,i did get some time to write great things about this place...I did lot of research on hair straightening on nycitysearch and finally found AR salon and decided to take a chance...I went in the day before for an initial consultation with Arthur..He was really nice to explain the whole process and gave me an appointment for the next day!!! The big day finally happend ..i was kinda of nervous when i walked in,but everyone makes you feel so comfortable...the process took a good 6 hrs and the staff were so friendly.
Its been a month now and my hair is in such good shape..Im so glad i got it done. My hair is sooo straight!!!!Love this place..Im going back for colour next week!!!

This place rocks! I have naturally curly hair and am always reluctant to go to a salon because of my bad experiences with people that don't know how to cut curly hair. I have only been to a salon a handful of times, and with the exception of this visit have usually regretted it and preferred to butcher it myself. I was in NY for a wedding and on a whim, found AR Hair Salon via citysearch ,and managed to get a last minute cut, highlighting and styling done only a few hours beforehand. They took me at the last minute with no appointment. I wouldn't tell Mike what I thought when I left because I wanted to let it air-dry and see what it looked like before I gave my opinion....well, it was great! Mike actually knows how to cut curly hair and he gave me the best styling I've ever had. I love it. I'll come back every time I'm in NY. Thanks Mike!!

My first time going to AR Hair Salon was great. My fiance drop me off to get a hair color, cut, and set my hair. I loved it! i'm very picky when it comes to hair but Robert did an amazing job and i already made plans with him to do my hair for my wedding night. They are very professional and wonderful. My fiance did not recognize me when i got back into the car. Its a great Place! I Recomend everyone to go there.

I should have known when i went in and it was kind of empty. Two stylists were asleep in their chairs maybe b/c they are lazy or they did not have clients... or maybe both. Mike did the coloring and it was terrible; he splashed it all over my arms! AND he did not listen to what colors and texture styling I wanted. I think he just did whatever he felt like doing. I paid $250 for highlights.. i asked over the phone and they said starts at $105.. how does that jump to $250!? Mike has a strange method of tapping the foils with the comb which is annoying cuz the comb hits my head at times. do NOT go here for coloring! the coloring was below average to mediocre at best and for a much higher price than a lot of other places i've gone to!

I went to AR Salon for the first time last week. Michael gave me one of the best cuts I've ever had. It's been very easy to style, which is not typical for me since I have a lot of thick, wavy hair. Usually it looks good the first and second day after the cut and after that I can't recreate it at home, but not this time. It's looked good ever since. Michael gave me exactly what I wanted--actually he gave me better than what I wanted! I was a bit nervous, being new to the salon, but Michael was reassuring and put me at ease. He listened, understood what I was asking for, and knew how to work with my hair.
I will definitely go back to Michael. I was also pleased with the service and atmosphere. It was relaxing, unpretentious, friendly and affordable. And the products they use are great. Highly recommended.

As there are possibly thousands of restaurants in NYC, and there also seems to be as many hair salons. However, none can compare to AR HAIR SALONS Extremely professional and classy, but never snobby like some others. What a role model! I went there 3 times. The first time Roger told me that whoever had cut and colored my hair had it all wrong. He gave me a lot of choices for color and really worked with me on it and I thought it was all good. The color was done very well but there was some kind of disagreement going on among the staff that made me uncomfortable. I think both A&R can be a little overbearing with the other people in the salon and I wasn't comfortable.

The second time I came in they were not ready for me and was eating breakfast when I arrived. I wasn't down in the book and then they thought I was new because the receptionist did not pull up my customer file. They were very unhappy with her and I felt bad that she was being chewed out over it. Plus they threw their breakfast away and I was again uncomfortable the whole time I was there. The color was the same as before but he styled my hair with a blowdryer (he had just scrunched it the time before) and I didn't like it and was charged for the blowdrying. ???

The last time I went in was basically the same thing except they talked to some long time customer who was waiting the whole time they were both doing other people's hair (including mine). I think the color is fine, the haircut is okay but the atmosphere is tense in there sometimes and I just don't like it.

I've found better places to go that aren't as uncomfortable. Maybe it's me but I didn't feel as if I belonged there.

I am a new client of AR SALON salon. I had my first appt. Saturday with my stylist ARTUR .I hate getting my hair cut because I never know what I want . But ARTUR was great HE sat with me for half an hour just getting diffrent ideas on new haircuts. My hair came out great. I have a short new do and I love it. The staff at AR HAIR SALON are wonderful, they really care about their clients. Not to mention the salon looks so cool. thank you

I had my first haircut there last week with Roger and it's absolutely perfect, the best haircut I've had in years. He was really patient with me as I get very nervous near scissors and put me at ease telling me it's my hair and I could have it anyway I like, something you rarely hear. I left the salon with long, glossy, bouncy hair straight out of a Paul Mitchell ad. I'm so happy with my new hair I'm telling all my friends to go there. The whole experience is just wonderful!

AR hair salons being the best kept secret salons the city. From the moment you walk in you feel like you have been going there for years. The very down to earth atmosphere makes you relax and go along for the ride. I myself went there for a change of color and i just told Roger what i wanted and an hour later i felt like i belonged walking down the red carpet. The entire staff is wonderful they take care of your every need and make sure that your visitis a most pleasurable experince. if you live in chelsea and you need a new color don't hesitate go to AR hair salons you will not be disappointed .

Artur was recommended to me by afriend and I have been going to see him ever since. He is an amazingly talented hair stylist , for color and for cut. He really listens to what you want. And then he does it even better than you imagined! AR salon is a great atmosphere and very relaxing - a decadent experience. He is one of the most talented colorists I know. I have long hair and like to have a natural look and he does a fantastic job doing color that will last weeks. I have had my hair done in city and Artur is the best! I highly recommend him.

From the moment I called to the end of my day, wow what a great expierience! I saw ROGER for my color, what an artist and talented. He tranformed my brown into a beautiful chocolate with carmel highlights, as he said, looks great. Then I had HAIR CUT transformed my fine lifeless hair into a crown of gorgeous waves. My friends couldn't stop complimentimg me at dinner.

I decided to try a AR HAIR SALON for a haircut and due to the great reviews, made an appointment with ALBERT I have a very basic cut that, for some reason, people can't seem to do right. But ALBERT listened to what I wanted took his time and did a great job. My best haircut was by Albert , perfectly cut, and for someone who has the bad habit of not maintaining haircuts perfect even as its grown out.
It's one of the few times I didn't have to go home and start snipping away to make the cut "right". Everyone there seems so nice, which is hard to find in NYC salons. This place is perfect .THANK YOU ALBERT AND THE AR HAIR SALON TEAM !!!.

I have found my NY stylist! Have you ever found yourself telling every single person you see for the next week how great your hair experience was? MIKE did such a great job on my head- high and lowlighting it blondish! The atmosphere is cool, the people are friendly, you get top-notch service, and MIKE could not have been more focused and attentive on my hair! From the drink I was offered to the touch-up on the lips as I walked out the door, I can assure you that if you go there, you will be completely satisfied with your choice! Thanks MIKE I love you !

My hair has never been healthier or looked better since I found. AR HAIR SALON .ROGER is great.he colored my hair .I never had that kind of experience. Great atmosphere. very convenient to get to in the heart of Chelsea. No snobby attitudes, even though you will get LUX-class treatment and style here. All the stylists are very skilled - you can't go wrong with any of them and they use great products !

I travel 2 hours each way ( and take a day of from work) to get my hair colored and dyed by Roger. This hair salon is special from the people that speak Russian and English as they work to the time and care they take to make your hair special and make sure you are happy as well. Roger consults with you about the color you would like and gives you ideas as he peruses the color samples. He honestly cares about how you look and feel. His haircutting is amazing as well. If you want a great hair experience and a fun day in the city as well visit this salon.
